Chapter 30: What's the Difference? Part 3: Rich and Poor
Jack POV
Aladdin guided me to a vacant lot with in the alleys. To my surprise it was so tragically sad. I saw many kids, homeless, dirty, and also scared. There were only a few, but when they saw Aladdin they all swarmed him with happy faces. Aladdin smiled and knelled down to their level.
"Aladdin!" They all chimed.
"Hey kids." He smiled. "Look what I managed to get today." He got out the loaf of bread that he stole. And boy was it long and huge. (NO INUENDO INTENDED!) All the kids were all excited. "Now, now, everyone wait your turn. There's enough for everyone." He chuckled. He broke the bread into equal pieces. After the kids got their share I noticed he didn't get any himself.
"What about you?" I ask him. He then went into his pocket and got out two apples. One for him and the other to his monkey, Abu. "You think of everything, don't you?"
"Yep." He smirks, taking a bite out of his apple. "So tell me something."
"Yeah."
"Why did you save me? Why didn't you just stop me? I mean you clearly aren't poor like me. You could've just turned me over to the authorities." Aladdin asks.
"I guess I saw myself." I explained. "You know, rebellious, trickster, playful."
"Ah I see." He smiles. We both then sat over by a wall. "But then again you are Jack Frost."
"Yeah." I chuckle. "So tell me. How did you end up homeless and poor?" He then made a painful look. "I'm sorry. You don't have to answer that." I felt really guilty now.
"Nah It's okay." He sighed. "I was born here. That's all I can remember. I have no mother to call my own. I don't have a proper education, but I got my learning on the streets. And that's basically it." He shrugged.
"What about, Abu?"
"Him? He's an escaped monkey from the circus." He explained as he patted Abu. "I noticed him running away from one of the tents in Central Park. He and I instantly became friends."
"That's cool." I smiled. The Abu jumped from his shoulder to mine. I patted him too.
"He really likes you, Jack." Aladdin laughed.
"Yeah, he certainly does." I laugh too. We both shared a good laugh. Then I noticed the kids feeling sad. I didn't like to see kids like that. So I decided to do something about that.
"What are you doing, Jack?" He wondered.
"Turning those frowns upside down." I said. I walked over to the kids. "Hey Kids!" I announce. "Let's not have those sad faces, let's have some smiles!" They all turned their gazes at me as I started to preform my winter magic. Instantly all the kids stared in awes and smiles. I preformed several tricks. Making a snowball, blowing on it, and throwing it up in the air for it to disperse into little flakes. I made a bunny rabbit out of frost and let it bounce around in thin air, only for it to disperse into little flakes. All the kids laughed and cheered, it made me feel so happy. Aladdin then came up next to me with same smile looking at the children.
"Wow." He smiled. "I haven't seen them this happy before. You're really great with kids."
"Yeah I know." I chuckled. Then I noticed two kids chasing after one of the flakes right out of the alleyway. "Oh boy."
"Come on, let's get them." Aladdin says as we darted towards them.
We make it to the other side of the alleyway just in time to see two white limousines. One was roofless, called a roadster and the other had a roof.
"Hey I know that guy." Aladdin said.
"Really? Who is he?" I ask.
"That's Achmed Dedtero. I rich noble." He explained. I then snickered a chuckle.
"Achmed the Dead Terrist." I whisper to him while chuckling.
"Silence! I kill you!" Aladdin chuckled. We both could help laugh at that. I mean come on if you knew someone named Achmed you probably wouldn't be able to hold back either.
However our little funny moment was interrupted by the sight of the kids ruuning out into the street.
"Wait stop!" We both shout in unison. The car came to a complete halt and Achmed approached them with an angry disgusted face.
"Out of my way, you filthy brats!" Achmed was about attack the children, but Aladdin jumps in front of them and catches his hand.
"Hey, if I were as rich as you, I could afford some manners." Aladdin smirked at him.
"Oh-I teach you some manners!" Achmed snarled at him as he kicks Aladdin into a mud puddle. I rush to him.
"Are you okay, Aladdin?" I ask. But he just smirks.
"Look at that, Abu, Jack. It's not every day you see a horse that stands on two feet!" Aladdin jokes. That may have been too harsh as Achmed turns to stare at us with such disgust.
"You are a worthless street rat. You were born a street rat, you'll die a street rat, and only your fleas will mourn you." He insulted. NOW that got under HIS skin. As well as mine. Aladdin in a fit of rage grabs Achmed and pins him against the wall. He stares down at Achmed with just hate.
"I'm not worthless. And I don't have fleas." He hissed and glared. Then Achmed's bodyguards come running at Aladdin. Grabbing him by his arms.
"It's off to jail with you, boy!"
"Hey, get off of me!" Aladdin struggled.
"Hey, let go of him!" I try to intervene but more guards block me.
"Oh you want some too?" They push me against the wall. I tried to struggle to get free, but they're were just too many of them. Achmed turned his attention to Aladdin.
"How dare you put your hands on me! How dare you attack me!" He shouted. "I'll have to teach you some more manners!" He was about to strike him, when…
"Unhand them, that's an order!" Said a female voice. Out from the second limo was another Arabic looking person, only this time it's a woman.
"What? But Miss Agrabah!" One of the guards says.
"Now!" She raised her voice. The guards complied. Achmed however was distraught by this.
"Jasmine! What are you doing!?" He demanded.
"Jasmine, dear what's wrong?" Said another voice, and out from the second limo was… another dwarf man? Jeez how many dwarfism people are there, seven?
"Father, Achmed was attacking innocent children, these men were only trying to protect them." Jasmine explained.
"Oh I see. Well then, Achmed please refine from harming these innocent bystanders?" He asked kindly asked.
"But, sir, they got in my way! Then they assaulted me! They must be punished!" Achmed demanded.
"Only because you insulted them!" Jasmine glared.
"Now, now, Jasmine dear try to stay calm. He is your fiancé after all." He tries to calm his daughter.
"Fine then, we'll let Rajah be the judge." Jasmine said.
"Oh no, not that… that feline." Achmed cringed. So Rajah is a cat. Well when you think about cats do have a great sense of… WHAT THE HELL! It's tiger! This girl has a freaking tiger! Both me and Aladdin were in wide eyed shock.
"Jasmine, dear! Not in a public area!" He tried to tell her. But his words fell on deaf ears.
"Now Rajah." Jasmine knelt down. "Can you be a friend and tell whether those two are bad?" She asked while ruffling him. The tiger purred in delight. Rajah walked over to us and the men, in fright, backed off. Both of us were kind of scared too, but we both kept calm. "It's alright he bite." She giggled.
"Yeah not very helpful." Aladdin was sweating bullets. Rajah looked at us with stern eyes. But then cuddled his head under our hands. Guess that means we passed?
"See? They're not a threat." She smiled. But then she turned to Achmed. "This arranged marriage, ends here and now!" She glared. Achmed was torn up by this.
"How dare you! This does not end! I demand it!" He yelled. That was bad move because Rajah then growled and bit of Achmed's bottom pants. Jeez! Luckily it wasn't his actual ass. Though to be fair it would be funny… Jeez I have a bit of dark side!
"Goodbye, Achmed the dead fiancé." She joked. She then giggled at that. Me and Aladdin couldn't help but laugh at that. Achmed, feeling defeated and humiliated, gets back into his limo.
"I've never been so insulted!"
"Achmed. You're not leaving so soon are you?" The little man hoped he wasn't leaving.
"Good luck marrying her off!" He snarled and drove away.
"Oh confound it, Rajah, Jasmine!" He then lost HIS temper. But then he calmed down. "Dearest, you've got to stop rejecting every suitor that comes to call. The law says you...
"…must be married to a noble." Jasmine finished looking uninterested.
"Yes. By your next birthday." He explained. "We've only got three days left." Three days? I think I could've jumped off a cliff at one.
"But it's wrong, dad. I hate being forced into this." She explained.
"Jasmine, dear." He sighed. "I'm not going to be around forever, and I just want to make sure you're taken care of, provided for. Please try to understand." He explained. Oh yeah, cause arranged marriages work so much better that way. Oh please!
"I do dad. And I love you for caring. But I want you to understand this time." She said. "I've never done anything on my own. I've never done anything to contribute to anyone. I've never had any real friends." Rajah goes wide-eyed in shock and growls. "Except you Rajah." She smiles. Rajah purred and smiled. Jasmine then turns to us. "Oh, I'm sorry." She awkwardly giggled. "I'm Jasmine Agrabah. Sorry about this little dispute."
"No it's okay." Aladdin stared down with his hood over his head. I could tell he was blushing.
"So what are your names?" She asked.
"I'm Jackson Overland." I introduced. Aladdin felt confused.
"What?" He whispered.
"That's what I used to be. Long story short." I whisper. Jasmine then turned to Aladdin.
"And what's your name?" She smiled.
"A-Aladdin." He stammered.
"Aladdin? Nice to meet you." She smiled. Then Abu came out of his hoody. "Oooooh he's so adorable." She cooed. Abu then jumped on her shoulder, smiling. She giggled at his cute face. "Hey want to meet, Rajah." She smiled. Abu then quivered. "Oh it's okay he doesn't bite." Rajah purred a smile. I guess that was reassuring as Abu jumped on Rajah's head. The two seemed to get along pretty well.
"Well this is certainly a happy little moment." The little man smiled. "Oh, how rude of me, my name is Sultan Agrabah. Jasmine's father." He smiled.
"Is any wrong Mr. Agrabah, Miss Jasmine?" Said a slithery voice.
"Oh! No, everything is fine, Jafar." Sultan chuckled. There in the second limo sat a very tall man. "This is my adviser Jafar Vizier."
"A pleasure to meet you." He smiled. I don't if it's me, but that smile is kind of creepy. It's the kind of smile that says; 'I touched Jasmine, and I'm okay with that.'
The two children rush over to Aladdin's side, scared. Jasmine looked at them.
"Are they okay?" She asked.
"Yeah, they're fine. Just a bit shaken up." Aladdin explained. Rajah came over to them and purred. At first they were a little scared but they got to pet him.
"They seem to be homeless. Maybe I could help." She offered.
"Can you really?" Aladdin stared in awe with much interest.
"Sure. In fact I'll call some shelters and orphanages, they'll be able to help out." She gets out her cell phone.
"Are you sure?" He asked. "I don't want to impose."
"Not at all. I'm glad that I'm able to help out in anyway I can." She smiled.
"You hear that?" Aladdin turned to the kids smiling. "You're finally gonna have shelters, clothes, food. Everything." The kids smiled too. "Go get the others and tell them the good news." And that's what they did. They rushed off to tell the other kids the great news. I felt happy for them.
After awhile the kids were picked up and taken to shelters or orphanages. Me and Aladdin felt very happy for them.
"I can't thank you enough for helping them." Aladdin said.
"Well maybe you can." Sultan smiled. "How would you like to work for us?" Aladdin stared in disbelief.
"W-what? Me? Work for you?" He was at a loss for words.
"That's a great idea!" Jasmine beamed. "I'm sure we can find a position opened for you."
"Yes indeed." Sultan smiled. "Um, Jafar, what positions are opened?" Jafar then checked his book. Then he smiled.
"We have a few opened."
"Then it settled." Jasmine smiled. "Come with us." He grabbed his hand and pulled him to the limo. "Come on, Rajah!" She called. Everyone piled in the limo.
"See ya later, Jack." He smiled.
"Good luck to you, man." I smile back. The limo drove off and Aladdin and I waved goodbye to each other. I felt proud for that boy. He was no longer homeless and now has a job. I looked around at my surroundings then flew off.
It was late when I got back home. Still no word on the daycare center's plumbing being fixed, but I knew it was getting done. In fact I got a call recently saying that they were almost done. But then I got a text. It's from Elsa.
"Hey, are you okay? Where are you?" – Elsa. I smile at the text and text back to her.
"I'm okay. I just got back home. Today was an adventure." – Jack. Pressed send. I went into my room and got ready for bed. I brushed my teeth, changed into my pajamas, took my medication, and got under the covers. I couldn't help but think about Elsa. It was then I started to realize that I was falling in love with Elsa. Wow total déjà vu.
Elsa POV
I smiled down at his text. I knew that there's nothing to worry about. I tucked myself in the covers, smiling. I love you Jack Frost and I will stop until I confess to you, no matter what the out come might be.
Chapter 30 is done. Wow! I had a lot to cram in there. Aladdin is now working for Jasmine and has a home too. Also big heads up! The Christmas party chapter is next and the moment of truth (So to speak. Lol.). Read it, review it, and tell me what you people think. This is just here for people to enjoy. :)
