Summary Sesshoumaru asks the Lady where Tessaiga is

The Lady scowled at Sesshoumaru. Their meeting was not going well at all. All Sesshoumaru could do was complain that Father had not given the swords to him before he died. Not one word of sympathy for her loss or even any sense that he was sorry that his Father was dead.

She knew why Sesshoumaru was here, but she could not help him. Tessaiga had been specifically crafted to protect humans from youikai after the Inu no Taisho took up with Izayoi. She had no clue where to start looking. All he had left her was a riddle that made no sense. This she conveyed to Sesshoumaru, but only made him angrier.

Sesshoumaru knew that his father had used Tessaiga to attack Takemaru's castle, but neither he nor Tessaiga were there after the battle. His father was dead. Both he and his mother felt him leave this world, but where the sword was no one knew.

She had suggested that he consult Totosai or Myouga since the former had constructed the sword and the latter his father told everything. If anyone knew where the sword was they would know Only they had made themselves scarce since the Inu no Taisho' death.

This left him powerless. Without the sword he could not be the Leader of the Dogs. Civil war had broken out. The dragons had destroyed the Western Shiro. The West lay in ruin while its heir wandered the countryside looking for the lost sword.

She did not know what to tell him. She was safe in Castle in the Air and had no need of the power and glory that his father had created in the West. It was his father who felt the need to fight everyone and everything. In the end that was what killed him.

She would like to tell Sesshoumaru to stop looking for the sword. To find the daiyoukai within himself. Only then would he surpass his father. Until then all she could do was wish him good luck and send him on his way.

Someday he would back. When that day came she would teach him the lessons of fear and mercy which his father could not teach. His father believed in him. Believed that he would stop being a spoiled brat who wanted everything his own way.

Someday he would learn compassion. Someday he would learn that he was not a god. On that day he would be a man. Until that day he would hunt for his father's power, never realizing that all he needed all along was in his own heart.
