Summary Sesshoumaru learns what is important

Sesshoumaru stared at the darkness. His mother offered a way. All he had to do was abandon Rin and return to the safety of her castle. All would be forgiven. He would just have to find another way to train his sword

Sesshoumaru turned his back on his mother. Rin was gone. The only way to bring her back was by killing the master of hell. Whatever power he might have over hell, this master had no power over Sesshoumaru.

The path out of hell closed as Sesshoumaru walked into the darkness. His mother had told him that none returned from that road, but he was Sesshoumaru. Hell had no hold on him. While he held Tenseiga all creatures in hell bowed their knees in fear before him.

The master fell without much of fight. Sesshoumaru found Rin and waited. His mother had promised if he slew the master that Rin would awaken. Instead, she lay there lifeless like the mountain souls.

He had just presumed that he would be able to bring Rin back to life. It never occurred to him that she would die. He thought that all he had to do was fight the master of hell and it minions for her.

When he saw that she was not reviving, he was overcome with grief. For the first time in his life he shed tears. The loss of Rin was more than he could bear. How could he have been so blind risking her life?

Of what use was Tenseiga if it could not bring Rin back to life. He dropped the sword. Instantly its light blazed in hell. All the dead hungered for it. Purification was their way out of hell. Sesshoumaru offered it to them.

The dead ascended. No longer condemned to the pit .All except Rin. Sesshoumaru was selfish Even though she was dead he was not ready to let her go. Mother had much to answer for. He would lay Rin's body at her feet

He knew that he was guilty, but she shared his blame .She knew that when Rin went to hell she could not be revived. If he had known, he never would have brought to this place. All that was too late now. Rin was dead and not coming back.

All he could do was bring Rin's body back now that Tenseiga could form a more circular meidou. He laid Rin at his mother's feet and bluntly accused her of knowing that Rin would die. His tears had dried In front of his mother, he could not express the sadness he felt

It was enough Sesshoumaru's mother was moved. He had learned the lesson that his father wanted him to learn. Sesshoumaru had changed. He no longer thought of humans as food. They were people whose death made him sad and whose revival would make him happy.

The little boy had grown up. He cared for other people beside himself. The lesson he learned was that he was not a god. People he loved could die and leave him forever. In order to prevent that he needed to be more careful of Rin's safety

When Rin revived, he was happy. His mother had retrieved her soul which had been left behind in hell. His mother nodded. Sesshoumaru now knew what was important. He had gone to hell to train his sword, but lost Rin. The sword was not important Rin. He did not thank his mother for reviving Rin. He was just glad that she was there to show Rin the path out of hell.
