Chapter 48: Darkness Ascending

Elsa POV (Finally!)

We all just stood where we were as the Ever Evolving Black Sands continued to swirl around where Jack stood. Overwhelming negative feelings coursed through me. Sadness, regret, loss, pain, fear. Tears streaked down my cheeks. I've lost my one and only true love I have ever had in my entire life.

"Oh Jack…" I whimpered. "N-No…"

"Jack…" North stared in horror and sorrow. We all watched in horror and sorrow at what happened. However Pitch just stood where he was, smiling sinisterly. But then the black sands start to slowdown and depart, revealing a silhouette of someone.

"Wait!" I said while drying my tears. "Someone's in there!"

"What!?" Bunny jerk his head up.

"Is it… is it Jack?" I frantically looked. "Jack! Are you there!" I called out.

"Jack!" Kristoff called out.

"Please answer us Jack!" Anna called out too. The sands finally subsided to reveal that it IS Jack. At first I was so happy to see him alive, but then at the last second I went wide-eyed in shock. Jack was completely different. He looked like a Jack version of Pitch. His white hair was replaced with black his pale skin was now just like Pitch's pale grey skin. His leather jacket, jeans, and sneakers were now replaced with a single black leather hooded over coat. (Just imagine Jack in an Organization 13 black coat.). And his eyes they were golden like Pitch, but the irises were sharp like a cat's eyes. And finally his staff was replaced with a scythe. "J-Jack?" I said.

"Oh my gosh!" Tooth muttered in shock.

"Crikey…" Bunny stared in shock.

"Jack!" Heart called out in concern.

"Well…" Pitch began. "I'd say this has been an eventful day." Pitch smirked.

"Pitch! You bastard! What did you do to Jack!?" North bellowed.

"Oh, I merely gave him his destiny." Pitch said. "His REAL destiny."

"What do you mean!?" I hissed through my whimpers, glaring at him.

"You see, my dear Elsa. YOU were never meant to be my greatest champion. Let alone my queen. Because for years now, my objective has always been HIM." Pitch explained as he gestured to Jack. Dark Jack. "You see Elsa you my be able to created eternal winters on a single land. But Jack here is able to create more then just massive winters on more than one land. He is able to create and ice age on the entire planet. I simply amplified it with my Evolving Black Sands."

"You bastard! You mean you were using me, just to get to him!?" I yelled in outrage.

"Correct." Pitch smirked. The rage and hate coursed through me. I've never felt or been so used in my life!

"You miserable bastard!" Anna shouted. "How dare you use my sister!"

"Yeah!" Tooth snarled.

"But did you forget Elsa?" Pitch asked with a smirk. "It was YOUR choice." In that moment he said that, regret instantly hit me. He was right. Joining Pitch WAS my choice. The aching pan in my chest reminded me of that.

"Elsa?" Anna looked at me. "Is this true?"

"It… it is." I nodded. Everyone stared in shock and disbelief.

"But… but why?" Anna frantically asked.

"Just goes to show you how weak willed the human heart can REALLY be." Pitch said. "Isn't that right Jack?" He turned to him.

"Absolutely." Jack said in low dark tone.

"J-Jack!" I call out to him.

"The name Jack no longer applies." I sneered. "Whatever was left of Jack died. From now on there is only Death."

"Death?" Kristoff asked in horror.

"Yes." Jack said in his dark tone. "I am Death incarnate. The Reaper of souls. Death himself."

"Jack, that's crazy talk!" North said, "You are our friend! You are Jack Frost the winter spirit."

"WAS Jack Frost the winter spirit." Jack said. "Not anymore."

"Jack please." I begged with tears in my eyes.

"The Black Sands have corrupted you!" Heart said.

"No. They opened my eyes." Jack said. Pitch opened my eyes."

"What are saying, mate!?" Bunny asked in disbelief.

"The Man in the Moon is nothing more than a coward." Jack said simply. "Haven't you ever found it odd that the Tsar Lunar has the status and power of a God? One that has the power to give life to nothing and the dead? And yet does nothing to solve the conflicts that this planet has suffered?

"Jack, what are you saying?" North asked.

"The Earth has suffered from war, terror, destruction,… and death." Jack said. "I can tell none of you have been around the awful things that have befallen the Earth time and time again. Manny has had you going through you jobs in different places for a reason. To keep you away from the warring savages of this planet."

"What are talking about mate!?" Bunny interjected.

"Don't you see? We had the power to change the world with us all along. But we never knew about it, because a certain someone decided to keep it a secret." Jack explained. "Think about it. We could have prevented all the wars, all the terrorism, all the destructive powers that humanity created out of their own ignorance and selfish pride! We could have created true world peace. But The Man in the Moon decided to be a coward and not let us."

"But Jack only children can see us." Tooth explained.

"Yes that is true." Jack nodded. "But I was able to give them fun when they couldn't see me. When they didn't believe in me. That alone is proof enough that I, We can change the world and make real world peace. But now it's too late because we've already past that point."

"Indeed." Pitch nodded. "Humanity's only hope for peace is to worship us. Accepting us as their kings, as their gods."

"No Jack!" Heart said.

"Don't do this, laddie." Lucky begged.

"Jack. Don't go down this road." North begged.

"It's too late for that." Jack said. "I've already chosen my path."

"But what about Elsa?" Tooth asked.

"Yeah, what about my sister?" Anna asked too.

"Hmph! You can have that back stabbing whore!" Jack snarled and glared. "I already hate her." We all went wide-eyed in shock at what Jack said to me. Especially me. "I suppose Heart, you were right. Elsa does deserve to suffer. Along with the rest of humanity." I could tell Heart was now hit by regret. He never imagined things would turn out this way.

"That's right." Pitch nodded. "For what goes better together than cold and dark."

"Exactly." Jack nodded as he stood beside Pitch. "Now that I FINALLY have the power to change the world and remake it, we can FINALLY put an end to this ridicules pointless struggle between light and darkness, good and evil forever. Startling like what we should have done the last time and very long time ago…" Jack said as he raised his hand in the air. We thought he was going to finish us in one stroke. But to our surprise and he used his hand to strike and impale Pitch in the back.

"AHHH!" Pitch screamed in painful agony.

"…by tearing out the heart." He hissed at Pitch as he quite literally ripped out Pitch's black beating heart from his back. Pitch gawked with blood and gasped for life. We all stood in wide-eyed shock at what we had just seen. Pitch turned to Jack with glaring eyes, while dripping in black blood. Jack on the other hand crushed his heart into dust.

"You… you betray me!?... ME!?" He shouted in outrage.

"Oh please. Don't give me that look, Pitch." Jack glared back at him. "That was nothing compared to what YOU did to Jamie. To his friends. To their families. To entire town of Burgess." Jack said. "YOU made me into this monster. And since you have a little while to live, let me show you how to make a bigger one." He said then raised his scythe, waved his hand on it with his Black Ice and casted it out into the city.

Normal POV

The Dark Ice began to take form and substance. Everyone in the borders of Manhattan, Washington, the North Pole, all around the world that were watching everything through North's mini cam were seeing this. The form it was taking was about 108.2 meters. Standing over 300 feet tall, with black charcoal scales made of black sand and black ice, Blue ice dorsal spine plates shaped as maple leaves but sharper than a katana blade, and with a roar so loud and mighty it could even breach the heavens. The Black Ice took on the form of the most powerful monster in fictional history. A Black Ice version of Godzilla!

"SSSHREEEONKG!"

Everyone stared in wide-eyed horror at what they were seeing. Hiccup and the others watched in horrors at the base camp.

"Oh my Gods." Hiccup whispered.

"Jumping Jehoshaphat." Monger muttered to himself. All the soldiers were all in wide-eyed horror at what they were seeing.

Back in the White House everyone was petrified with shock, horror, and disbelief. They couldn't believe what was being displayed on their television screens. A live version of Godzilla was roaming the streets of New York. It stood next to the Empire State Building like a bodyguard waiting for orders. Orders to destroy anything in it's wake.

"Oh deer God." The President stared in disbelief. Everyone's hopes were once again replaced with fear again. But if anyone would think it couldn't get any worse…

"Mr. President!" A security guard came rushing in breathless. Duke Weselton managed to escape our grip! He managed to get to the control panel to launch a nuclear missile at New York!"

"What!?" The President stared in shock. Everyone was in complete shock.

What the security guards said was true. Duke had indeed escaped from their grip. Actually kind of in a cheap way. He just nailed them in the crotches and made a break for it. Duke had finally reached the peek of his horrid insanity. He was laughing maniacally as he was calibrating the launch for a nuke to target and hit Manhattan.

"They call me crazy! But I'll show them! I'll show them all!" He laughed sinisterly. "I saw what happened! Is that supposed to impress me? Oh ho ho ho no! It only proves my point! He only did that because he wanted control! I knew it to be true! All creatures that aren't human are evil! And as for Jackson Overland, or really Jack Frost, I knew his words of promise were hollow! He lied to us! And it's high time I send them a message that THIS is what awaits them! THIS is their one true fate! To DIE!" He dramatically said as he slammed the launch button. The nuke immediately launched high into the sky and towards its target. Yes! Fly! FLY!"

"Duke!" The president shouted as he just arrived too late. "What have you done!?"

"I just saved the world Mr. President! I saved humanity! I am hero! A HERO! AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Duke laughed maniacally. It was clear to the President that Duke had finally gone insane. They were too late. All they could do was watch as the missile flew straight towards Manhattan.

Elsa POV

We all stared outside seeing the living Black Ice creature Godzilla. It was designed from Gareth Edward's Legendary Picture's version of Godzilla. The same movie that me and Jack saw during our day out. I could never create something that big. I mean sure Marshmallow was big, but THIS was on a whole new other level. Me, Jack, and Pitch are able to create life, but THIS was all of that combined.

"And with that, I bid you farewell, Pitch Black." Jack said to Pitch.

"No. No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Pitch screamed in dying agony, as he disintegrated into dust. Jack had killed the Boogeyman. We were all still shock by all the events that have transpired today.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" Jack said looking at the monster he made. "This is the 2014's design of Godzilla. The movie that we saw. Remember?" We all turned our attention to Jack. "Much like the 1954 version, Godzilla is a symbol of nuclear warfare, nature's power and wrath, and most importantly humanity's arrogance." Jack explained. But then he turns his head to the window again. "And it would seem THAT point is about to reveal itself." We didn't understand at first, until we looked out the window as well. What we saw made us go wide eyed in horror.

"It's… it's a nuke!" North bellowed.

"What!?" We all shouted in unison. He was right. There is a nuke headed straight for us.

Normal POV

Everyone in the world who was watching this all stared in horror. A nuke had been sent to whip out all of Manhattan.

At the Pole.

"Oh no!" Pabbie shouted in horror.

"It's gonna hit!" Kai shouted.

"No! My darlings!" Gerda frantically panicked for her daughters.

At Washington.

"What have we done?" The president muttered to himself, staring in horror.

"Yes! YES! BURN THEM! BURN THEM TO ASHES!" Duke stared with a wide-eyed smile.

Manhattan.

"It's gonna hit!" Gobber shouted.

"EVERYONE TAKE COVER!" Monger shouted. And from there the missile hit the empire state building. Then all was quiet. Everyone who had taken cover and had their eye cringed shut, had all slowly started moving around. Nothing happened.

"What? We're… we're still alive?" Astrid said looking around.

"But how?" Hiccup asked. They soon got their answer.

"Look!" Gobber pointed up. Everyone turned in the direction of where Gobber was pointing. The nuke was still. Only an inch away from hitting the Empire State Building. It was ensnared in Black Ice. Jack stopped it with ease. Everyone was in awe struck.

"Oh my stars and garters." Monger muttered to himself.

At the Pole.

"What in the…" Kai muttered to himself.

"Dear God…" Gerda muttered to herself.

Washington.

"Great balls of hay." The president muttered to himself.

"Wha-What!? What just happened!?" Duke demanded in outrage.

Elsa POV

A few seconds ago

We all just held our breath and huddled close together waiting for the end. But after awhile we all breathed again and looked around. Nothing happened.

"We're… We're still here." Kristoff said.

"How is that possible?" Tooth asked.

"Lucky, did you do something?" North asked Lucky. But we noticed he was staring in awe.

"N-No…" He stammered as he pointed in Jack's direction. "H-He did it…" We all turned and what we saw was unbelievable. Jack stood where he was, unfazed, and had his hand erected. The Nuke was ensnared in Black Ice.

"Do you see now?" Jack said. "THIS is what humanity is capable of. Violence is all humanity knows and knows how to do." He then turned to the mini cam. "Oh that's right. I almost forgot that we still have THAT. Well then. Listen closely you savage filthy humans. THIS is your doing. You blinded me for long enough. Now what as I show you your punishment. What awaits you." Jack explained. He then used the Black Ice to turn the nuke in the opposite direction. He then used black sand to make a spark and light up the rickets again. He then snapped his fingers, which caused the Black Ice to disappear and release the nuke. Instantly it jetted away.

Normal POV

Everyone in the world, watching, saw the nuke heading back to the one place, the one source it was launched from. Washington. Everyone at the Whitehouse, The President, and the UN representatives were furious at what Duke Weselton did.

"That missile went in a straight line towards MANHATTAN!" The President yelled as he grabbed Duke by the collar. "WHERE IS IT HEADING NOW, WESELTON!?"

"Well…" Duke said as he turned to the TV. He saw the missile heading back at full speed. "Oh. W-Well… W-We… We can duck in cover! There's a fall back shelter—"

"There is NOWAY to survive THIS, YOU IDIOT!" The President spat.

"You mean…" Duke stuttered. "…We're all going to—"

"To DIE Weselton. For. Our. Country." The President said snarling.

"SCREW OUR COUNTRY! I WANT TO LIVE!" Duke squealed in fright as he ran away like a wimp.

"YOU CAN'T OUT RUN IT, DUKE!" The President shouted. "None of us can." He sighed in defeat. "We did this. We failed."

Outside everyone in Washington was in complete panic as they all started to run away. Hoping to get out of Washington and survive. Most of everyone just stayed, looking hopeless. They knew it was the end. People began shoving and running. Duke among them.

"I don't want to die! I don't want to die! I don't want to die! I don't want to die! I don't want to die!" Duke chanted to himself in fear and panic. But the hissing sound got closer and louder. Finally with a loud mumbling boom, it hit. The nuke ignited on impact and exploded. The shock wave of the fire explosion expanded within seconds, burning, destroying, and killing anything in existence in its path. People screamed in dying agony, one after the other. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Duke squealed in fear, with tears rolling down his face. But it was no use. He was incinerated, dead. Along with everyone and everything else. Buildings, people, places, the Whitehouse, everything. Washington had been completely wiped out.

Everyone one, outside of Washington, witnessed the destruction caused by the nuke. Caused by Jack. Or now referred to as Death. Fear, sorrow, shock, and disbelief coursed through everyone in the world.

The Pole.

"Oh my God…" Pabbie stared in shock and disbelief.

"He… He just caught a nuke, sent it back, and wiped out Washington like it was nothing!" Sultan stared too. Everyone at the pole was in shock.

Manhattan.

"I don't believe this…" Monger muttered to himself.

"J-Jack, he… he just killed so many people!" Hiccup said with a crack in his voice.

Elsa POV

I couldn't believe it. WE couldn't believe it. Jack just sent back a nuke to Washington. Not only that but wiped out the entirety of the state. He killed so many people. It was heart breaking. We were all struck with shock and disbelief at what Jack had done. He then turned back to us.

"Oh. I almost forgot YOU were still here." He pointed, not at us. We all turned to see it was Hans. Staring wide eyed and shock and horror. We also saw the fates at the door too. THEY too were in total shock. "Well I suppose your time in this world has now expired.

"W-wait! Please, no!" Hans begged. But Jack erected his scythe at Hans. Hans then tried to run, but was struck in the back with black ice. Hans gasped in pain, but then the ice began to quickly spread. He tried to scream but it was cut short when he was completely frozen over. Like Anna was in our past lives. Then Jack lifted his scythe and slammed it of the floor. The ice statue of Hans then shattered into dust. Jack killed Hans. The fates gasped in horror, but Jack di the same thing to them. He killed them.

"Now comes the part where I break your spirits." He said. He then raises his hand high in the air and forms a small ball of Black Sand. Then instantly it began to spread engulfing us all. Is this the end? Actually, no. The Black Sands begin to course through our heads and into our minds. For moment there was nothing, and then he started showing us things…horrible things…beyond description. And in that split second, We understood. He was showing me humanity's history. War, terror, conflict, death, and destruction on an unimaginable scale.

Normal POV

The Black Sands instantly grew colossal and spread through out the entire world. The Black Sands then affected everyone. Dream Sand did bring dreams to life in the mind of a dreamer. But it also worked like the memories within the teeth. The entire planet instantly went black and the black sand coursed through everyone's minds. Showing them the darker aspects of humanity's history. The entire world was engulfed in complete blackness. But then just like magic, the black sand vanish. Then everything, the whole world was silent. Everyone was staring in wide-eyed shock as if they've witnessed something horrid. They did.

Elsa POV

We all stared in shock and horror. Jack showed us all the terrible and horrible things of what humanity has done. He kept his attention at the mini cam.

"People of world." He began his announcement. "You have been told a great lie. You have been led to believe that your existence has a purpose and actually matters. It does not. Not because you are fragile, but because you are expendable and unnecessary. Every aspect of your existence can be changed on a whim, should the winds of fortune blow in another direction. Your lives mean nothing. You causes mean nothing. And when you culture has been changed one too many times, the hope and happiness you try to gain will abandon you. No matter what you do, what you feel, or how you exist, they are temporary investments. Nothing more and nothing less." Jack explained to all of us. To all the people of the world. "Now, knowing the truth, as I have just told it to you, who among you can still stand and tell me otherwise?"

Normal POV

After Death's speech from showing them every horrible thing about humanity, everyone in the world was quiet. They couldn't say anything. They had nothing to tell Death otherwise. They all then fell to their knees or lay down on the floor in a petrified state. They all had fear, sadness, and shame. They had nothing.

Elsa POV

"I thought not." Jack simply said.

""J-Jack…" I tried to speak up, whimpering. "Why… why are you doing this?"

"You should know that by now." Jack simply said. "Humanity is cancer and I have chosen to cut out the disease."

"What?" Heart stared in shock. We all did.

"That's right." Jack said. "I'm going wipe the sleight clean."

"You… you can't do that!" Kristoff frantically said. "There are innocent people!"

"Innocent? They're not." Jack said. "The people I once fought so hard to protect are guilty. Their crime is ignorance."

"Jack, please stop this!" Anna begged. "Please comeback to us!"

"Humans are monsters." Jack said. "They Lust over pleasure and power. They are Gluttons for pleasure and power. They're Greedy for power so they try to keep it for themselves. They're Sloths and refuse to do anything. They're Wrath cannot be appeased, so they vent it out on others. They become Envious to anyone having more power, so they try and take it. Their Pride is too over flatted and it makes them ignorant. They are Violent to each other and on to themselves. They're also Frauds, nothing but thieves, seducers, panderers. And Finally they're all Treacherous, they back stab and desert whoever they are close to. That is the true face of humanity." He explained.

"That's… that's true, but…" North tried to interject.

"There are many types of monsters in this world that I despise. Monsters who do not show themselves and cause trouble. Monsters who abduct children. Monsters who devour dreams. Monsters who suck blood. And Monsters who always tell lies. Lying monsters are real nuisance. They are much more cunning than other monsters." Jack explained. "They pose as humans even though they have no understanding of the human heart. They eat even though they never experienced hunger. They study even though they have no interest in academics. They seek friendship even thought they do not know how to love. If I were to encounter such a monster I would likely kill it before it eats me. Because in truth I am that monster. Just as you are."

"What are saying?" I said in quivering.

"Elsa, you are a monster too. Not because you have magic, but you because you shut people out. That is what makes you a monster." Jack said to me. I was completely crushed even more. How could Jack say that to me?

"Stop it, Jack!" Anna begged. "My sister is not a monster! She is a loving, caring sister. She loves me. She loves you. And I love her too!"

"And what would YOU know about love? Nothing. You know nothing." Jack said. "You were a hopeless romantic and yet you still are. You fell for Hans and he turned out to be wrong for you. Quite ironic that the same thing would happen again in THIS life."

"Y-Yes, but…"

"You know nothing of love, because love doesn't exist." Jack said.

"That's not true!" Krisoff spoke up. "She found real love! Me!"

"You fall in the same category, Kristoff." Jack said. "You too know nothing of love, because you had no real parents in your past life. Your real parents abandoned you. They never loved you. They didn't want the responsibility of taking care of a child."

"N-No… You're wrong…"

"The same could be said for Elsa." Jack turned back to me. "Your parents in your past life never loved you, they feared you. That's why they kept you locked up like a bird in a cage. Believe me when I say that they couldn't wait to get rid of you."

"That's not true! I've changed. We all changed!" I retorted.

"Seasons may change. Tastes my change. But people never change. And you would delude yourself believing other wise." Jack said. His words were painful to listen too.

"No stop!" I whimpered. "It's too much! It's too painful to listen to!"

"You know nothing of pain!" Jack snarled. "You complained how you were always alone. But it's not how much loneness there was, it was how long. You were alone for 10 years, a decade. But for me, I was alone for 300 years, 3 centuries. You were closed door, while I was an open one. Yet the closed door got most attention while mine had no one." Jack explained. "So you see? My pain is FAR GREATER THAN YOURS!" He shouted as he raised his staff high in the air. North then quickly reached into his pocket and got out a snow globe.

"We have to go! Hurry!" He bellowed. He opened up a portal and we all jumped in. On the other side of the portal we were thrown onto the ruins of Brooklyn.

Normal POV

Death ceased his attack.

"It doesn't matter." He said. "This world's end is coming anyway." He then snapped his fingers. That was the signal for Godzilla to go around and destroy the world in a rampage. Godzilla then started walking away out of Manhattan to execute what he was ordered to do. Death then flew out and on top of the steeple of the Empire State Building. Looking down at the darken city. "And now, this world shall know death itself." Jack said to himself. He raised his scythe once again. "Cocytus!" Death chanted as he formed a small black snowflake. He then let it drop from the Empire State Building to the streets of Manhattan. The instant the black snowflake gently made contact on the concrete streets it the exploded in a shockwave of ice and snow. Colossal ice spikes formed and froze anything it touched. Everyone on the borders of Manhattan could only watch in horror as the massive deadly storm approached them. Hiccup and Astrid looked at each other with sadness. They held each others hands and then into each others arms. Toothless cuddled with them too. Just as the giant deadly storm of ice and snow engulf them, the God, the military, everyone and everything. Freezing them in instant death. Elsa and the others who were outside in Brooklyn could only watch in horror at what Death had done. He turned the Dark Manhattan into a ice age waste land. Yet the scariest part was… that was only 1% of his power.
