Breathe In, Breathe Out
7 days, 5 of which were working days had passed meaning today was the day. Sandra didn't know when the results would be back on the other hand Gerry did, he just didn't want to panic her further. In UCOS they all knew what was going on and consequently not a lot of work was being done. Sasha knew how important this day was to her boss and Dan and to an extent Gerry.
With half of her team's mind not on the case and her boss not with it there was no point working it. The results were due at any point through special delivery to the met building. None of them knew would time it's arrival was likely to be at so it was a waiting game.
"I'm going to Starbucks guys, anyone want anything bringing back?" Sasha asked once the tension, from waiting, was making it hard to breathe in the office.
"A muffin please." Gerry asked in an attempt to take his mind off what was going on. To anybody looking in they wouldn't have thought that Gerry would or should be on edge the way he was. This was important to him though. He considered Sandra and Olivia family now and he was trying to do right by them, he wanted what was best for them and he wanted to have done everything right for Sandra to hopefully get the result she wanted.
"Erm I'll have a coffee guv'." The Scotsman told his boss.
"Okay, I won't be long." Sasha replied as she wrapped her scarf loosely around her neck and grabbed her bag. In all honesty she didn't want anything from Starbucks, she just needed to get out of the office. The tension in the office could have been cut with a knife and it was getting worse as the minutes rolled on.
The phone on Gerry's desk rang, startling them all from their separate thoughts.
"Gerry Standing, UCOS." Gerry answered without a second thought.
"Hi mate, there's a letter up here and the man is requesting that you sign for it."
"I'll be up in a minute."
