The Route of Destiny
Chapter I:
A Chance

While everyone was enjoying the peace in Chizeta, Presea was give the task to go back to Cephiro to check an unexpected condition. Due to the abolishment of the pillar system, Cephiro has been going through some changes which require help from Clef, Presea and Lantis for its maintenance.
"Clef, this is worse than we thought, this should be the final metamorphosis stage for Cephiro so I need you and Lantis to make it successful"
With Cephiro's fate on the line, Clef and Lantis had no choice but to put a pause on their vacation.
"I'm going too, I want to help" offered the fiery knight
"It'll be ok Hikaru, the 3 of us can handle it. You don't have to worry" Clef insisted she stay. He felt Hikaru has done more than enough for everyone and deserves the time off more than anyone.
"I'm sorry Hikaru if we have to snatch your boyfriend for a while though" Presea jokingly added in the intercom
She blushed at the comment.
"You can enjoy the time with your friends. I'll be back as soon as I can, I promise" and without hesitation, in front of everyone, he bent down and kissed her.
To make the atmosphere more festive than worrying, Tata and Tatra offered to give the 3 girls a tour in Chizeta. One of the destinations was the place where they make the infamous Chizetan feather fans.
"Did you know that these feathers naturally produce magic dust depending on the region it came from?" Tata proudly mentioned.
"These dust weren't always used as weapons too, they're made to cater to certain needs" Tatra added
"For example, this one came from the northern region and the dust produced by these feathers make people fall asleep, it's actually used to cure insomnia" Tata explained as she points at a set of snowing blue feathers.
"This one triggers an emotion that makes people happy with literally everything" Tatra added pointing to some bright fuchsia feathers.
"Those huge red ones on the wall came from the western region and are known to cure depression, they make people forget, it's like being inflicted with amnesia but in a good way, and the effects usually doesn't lasts longer than a week" explained Tata.
"What about those?" Umi curiously asked pointing at a set of turquoise feathers.
Unfortunately, as she pointed carelessly at them she swinged her hand on a fresh batch of minty feathers. The dust from those feathers flew off towards Fuu who delivered quite a sneeze and accidentally pushed back Hikaru who bumped into the wall containing the flaming red feathers.
Tata and Tatra, knowing the effects of the dust immediately sent them back to the castle to be treated.
Unfortunately, the only treatment known was for the dust to wear off its effect in time. The 2 infected girls fell asleep instantly and were bought to their chambers to rest.
Fuu caught the green dust. It was used as an aphrodisiac.
"Well, looks like you'll be having a lot of fun in the next few hours" Caldina joked at Ferrio who couldn't help but turn red.
"Actually days" Tatra corrected "The feathers were fresh and therefore the effect would lasts longer"
"What did you say?!" Ferrio felt steam coming up his head, he wouldn't know what to expect, what to do.
"Sheesh don't pretend you won't like it" Caldina teased.
"Hikaru would not remember anything in the next few days as well" Tata continued.
"The phoenix dust is supposed to give the depressed person a new start and a new outlook in life; everything will be new to her… " Tatra added.
Alone in her chambers, Hikaru gently opened her eyes. She knows her name but not who she, she doesn't know where she is, what happened, what was she supposed to do.
She went out to look around and explore, hoping she could find someone familiar.
In the midst of a dessert like spot inside the castle, she stumbles upon a solid mirage. She tried to take a closer look but slipped in the sand was about to fall on her face when a strong comforting hold caught her.
He looked at him, gazing staring, trying to figure out who he was. His golden eyes were mesmerizing though oddly enough they seemed so lonely. His lightning-stricken white hair fell perfectly across his eyes as if attempting to hide those sad golden stare.
"T-Thank you"
He smiled while carrying her in his arms, hiding his pain.
"Please be careful Hikaru, we wouldn't want anything bad happening to that adorable face now would we?"
He gently placed her down and proceeded to go on his way
"Wait!" D-do I know you? Have we met before?"
"My name is Eagle, well, see you around"
He started walking away
Eagle was aware of what happened. He could never forgive himself if he would succumb to such temptations. He knew he would regret it. It's better to avoid it than fight it, he assumed.
"Eagle?... w-wait up! Wait for me!" She followed him.
"What do you want from me?" He tried to be cold as he could
"I- uh… I'm sorry; I didn't mean to bother you I just… I'm sorry but I'm not sure where I am…"
"You're inside the castle, this is Chizeta"
"Chizeta?"
"Yes, now may I go? Or have you really grown attracted to me?" Displaying his smile, he joked
"W-what? I…" She blushed as he noticed how handsome the young man in front of her was.
"I was just kidding, my, my, such a childish reaction from a grown young woman" he cheerfully commented.
"Can I come with you? I don't think I know where to go"
He approached her, stared at her for a while with his face so close to hers and then displayed that rather annoying smile.
"This is a rather small castle don't you think? I'm sure you'll be ok" He preceded to walk away
She just stood there staring blankly, not knowing what to do or where to go or who to look for to ask help from. In the end, Eagle couldn't fight his feelings.
"Sigh, alright, you can come with me"
With his invitation, she smiled and rush towards him
"Thank you … Eagle"
As they proceeded to walk towards the main hall, he couldn't help but think of the possibilities, of the opportunities laid upon him. As trail of thoughts wandered and as he tried to fight each one of the suggestions his heart was pushing in his mind, he noticed that Hikaru has just been quietly staring at him while they were walking.
"Hnh? Is there something wrong?" he asked
She blushed as she answered "Oh –no I- uh… I was just wondering, do I know you? I mean, have we met before? I feel that I've known you for a very long time"
He stopped and smirked, he bent down a little as if aiming for a kiss. He placed his lips so closed as he whispered "Are you saying that you and I could be lovers?"
She stepped back in a panic blushing as she covered her mouth in disbelief
"Hnh? I- uh, that's not what I was trying to say"
He then started laughing
"Relax Hikaru, I was just kidding, you're so naïve you know that?"
"Hnh? Why are you making fun of me?"
"I'm sorry, really, your reaction was so priceless" he continued to laugh
Inside he thought to himself ' I wish I could say the we are Hikaru, but I can't '
Seeming annoyed, she pouted "That's fine, I won't ask anymore then"
It seemed harsh but Eagle thought it'd be better that way. It'd be easier for him to fight his temptations of feeding a false romance to Hikaru at her current state.
How easy it is for him to simply just say to her that he was her lover and how in love they were.
In the main hall Caldina, Tata and Tatra informed Clef of what happened. They have agreed to keep everything to themselves until the effects of the dust wore off and avoid any kind of further issues or panic specially coming from Lantis. They knew he might rush towards Chizeta to aid the fire deity but at this point, Cephiro needs him more than ever. It seemed like a selfish decision but Clef had no other choice.
Thinking that Eagle and Lantis are very close friends, everyone was fine with handing the responsibility of looking after Hikaru to Eagle in Lantis' absence. Eagle had always kept his feelings to himself with only Lantis noticing his true intentions every once in a while.
As soon as Eagle and Hikaru reached the main hall, the decision has been done
"Well Eagle, for the time being, we'll leave Hikaru under your care" Rafarga concluded
"I think that should be fine, I'm sure Lantis would've wanted that as well" Caldina added
' I'm sure Lantis would kill me before he thinks of that ' Eagle thought as he tried to smile
"I don't really mind babysitting for Lantis but I'll only do it if it's fine with Hikaru" He offered
"Well? Hikaru? Is that alright with you? " Umi hesitantly asked as she holds her best friend's hands, still feeling sorry for what happened.
"You mentioned your name is Umi right?" She asked with a smile
"Yes"
"I really like you Umi, I feel that all of you are such wonderful people and that you really care for me and I trust your judgment because of that" She then looked at Eagle
"I promise I won't be a burden to you Eagle, please take care of me for a while"
Surprised, Eagle just smiled ' I'm sorry Lantis, but looks like keeping my promise is harder than I thought'
