Nicole0725: Thanks

TeamParker: No Ashley is just a random character that popped out in the park that just noticed Chase's "condition".

Sir RCCS: Thank you.

Chapter Forty-Five: My Baby

Chase's P.O.V.

It started as mild and annoying twinges. Of course I thought of them as Braxton-hicks after getting them weeks ago. But something was off. It was different. I just felt weird...weirder than usual. And then I knew what it was as soon as I stepped in the shower. The warm clear water swirls down the drain turning a pinkish color.

Standing under the cascade I freeze momentarily shocked. I get out of my shower and dress as quick as I can while being nine months pregnant. I walk out a bit shakey and anxious. When I look for Adam I can't find him. Per usual.

I make my way to the lab and find Mr. Davenport sitting in his chair.

"Mr. Davenport?" I call.

"Chase," he smiles.

I can tell that it falters just a bit. But enough.

"Have you seen Adam?" I ask.

"He's on a mission."

A mission?

"What?" I inquire.

"Don't worry he'll be back by tomorrow," he promises.

"Oh," I say sadly.

"Do you need something?" He asks ignoring me and looking at the progress of the said mission.

My throat grows tight. Apparently I'm not important to anyone. Especially to Adam considering I'm heavy with his child.

"No," I reply brokenly.

Mr. Davenport doesn't notice anything wrong or my tone of voice. He just hums his reply as I go out back upstairs. I barely make it up before I'm sliding down the wall. I wrap my arms around myself protectively as if that'll take the pain away. I can't do this.

I don't know how long it's been before Eddy decides to pop up.

"Hey~" he smiles.

I can barely lift my head up. I feel hot and humid despite the fact I just took a shower.

"What's wrong?" He asks.

Is he concerned?

If I weren't in pain I probably would've laughed.

"Try to guess," I mumble.

His usually perked up mouth turns into a straight line deep in thought.

"You're finally in labor?"

I merely nod as another contraction rips through my body each getting stronger than the last.

"Want me to get Donny?"

"No," I shake my head.

"Chase-"

"They don't care," I intervene.

"Well even if we don't I don't want you to die...we live here," he jokes.

I bite lip to stifle a scream of agony.

"Shut it will you?"

"I'll go get Donald," Eddy says.

"No!...oh god...oww...please," I groan.

"You need help," he argues.

"Don't leave...please..." I plea.

Can't believe I'm begging a callous robot.

"Chase!"

I look up with tears in my eyes and spot Adam.

"A-Adam?" I whimper.

"Hey baby," he says landing softly by my side.

I pull him close as he picks me up.

"I th-thought you w-were in a mission," I say burying my face in the crook of his neck.

"Mr. Davenport called me back after you left the lab," he explains.

"I-I'm sorry," I moan painfully.

"Ssh it's okay. We were done. How long have you had them?" He asks.

"Not long," I hiss as another contraction hits me.

He picks me up properly and carries me to our in home ER.

"You're burning," he notes.

"It's normal. He's going to get quiet dehydrated. This will definitely take a while," Mr. Davenport states.

"Hours?" I shriek.

"Some normal pregnancies can last at most two days," he nods.

Adam puts me down on the crisp white bed.

Adam's P.O.V.

Hours later and a pair of scrubs on Chase is screaming in pain and I hate it because I can't take it away.

"Ow! Oh bloody hell!" He shouts.

"It's okay Chasey-"

"Don't tell me it's okay! This is your damn fault!"

That cuts through me and I shut up immediately.

"Adam? I'm sorry...I'm so sorry," he cries.

"Oh Chase it's okay. Baby don't worry," I soothe.

He takes my hands and squeezes it. Hard. And it's pretty scary how strong he is while in labor.

It's nearing two in the morning when Mr. Davenport comes in for the fifth time to check how dilated he is. He pulls Chase's gown up to expose him but a blanket draped over his legs saves his dignity.

"You're fully dilated Chase," he informs.

"Finally," Chase groans.

His relief is shortly lived as he grits his teeth and bears down.

"Need to...push," he pants.

Mr. D takes a seat at the end of the bed, "go for it."

Chase's P.O.V.

I don't know how long it is until I finally start to push. I bear down with all my strength wanting to meet my baby.

"Good Chase," Mr. Davenport praises.

"You're doing great, you can do this," Adam encourages.

"Hurts," I pant.

"I know but soon we'll meet our baby," he promises.

I nod pushing again. This goes on for another half hour with curses and screams.

"Hey sweetie," Tasha comes in.

I barely acknowledge her presence already tired and exhausted. About to pass out.

She's wearing the same kind of scrubs as Adam and Mr. Davenport. It's a bluish green color.

"I brought more ice chips," she says smiling sympathetically.

"Thanks," I whisper hoarsely.

She leaves right after and I continue pushing with all my strength. Finally I feel my baby descend and my entrance stretch making way for the baby. It accommodates the baby's head as it starts to crown and tears roll down. I can feel the burning sensation but I focus on my baby. And it wants out!

"Chase, Chase stop!" Mr. Davenport says urgently.

"W-what? W-why?"

"Stop don't push. I know it'll be hard but try. The cord is wrapped around the baby's neck."

I try to stifle a cry. Nonetheless I follow his order trying not to push though my body demands for me to follow instinct. It takes my will to prevent from pushing but I trust Mr. Davenport.

"Okay on the next contraction push okay?"

I don't even respond as the pressure builds again. I push harder than before until I can finally feel the baby being fully expelled. My head falls back against the pillows and I turn it to the side trying to catch a glimpse.

"It's a beautiful baby girl," he announces.

I grab hold of Adam's hand as he kisses my temple.

And then...

"Why isn't she crying? Oh god Mr. Davenport?"

"Adam, calm him down."

My baby.
