Chapter Forty-nine: Dreams

Davenport's P.O.V.

I carry my granddaughter for a while longer. I can tell she likes to cuddle and I can't help but chuckle. She's small and barely 48 hours old. Yet she already holds everyone's heart. I'm literally wrapped around her wittle pinky.

Gently and carefully I place her down in the crib. Who would've thought I would have such a perfect granddaughter and family? I still can't believe she inherited bionics from Adam and Chase. I'm glad that both father and daughter made it through.

I here a knock on the window. I move the curtains and check outside. Nothing.

"Must be the wind," I shrug.

I take my time to adjust the curtains again.

"Good night princess," I kiss her forehead lightly.

I creep out of the room and leave the door slightly ajar. I then decide to head to the lab.

"Hey Donny," Eddy greets.

"Hey Eddy," I reply.

"This is so not fair," he pouts.

I take out another of my latest inventions to finish it.

"What is?" I ask screwing bolts in.

"I'm not getting any attention. That little brat is getting it all," he complains.

I drop my screw and glare at the robot.

"That brat is my granddaughter," I grit my teeth mad.

"But Donny~!"

"Don't make me shut you down," I threaten.

After that he disappears. I smile in victory. As long as I'm around no one gets to say anything about my family. Not even Eddy.

Chase's P.O.V.

'I'm surprised.'

I jerk awake and groan tiredly.

"What?" I hiss.

'Grumpy much.'

"I'm tired," I continue to whisper.

'You know I'm always here to watch over you and now Adam and Audrey,' Spike replies.

"I feel like a complete freak talking to myself, would you just sleep? How the hell did my commando app even get activated?"

'Look outside.'

With that he leaves my head. To be honest I was surprised Spike didn't appear while I was pregnant and raging with my stupid hormones. Nonetheless I slip out of bed and limp to the window. I don't see anything. Until...

I see someone staring back up at the window. I rub my eyes. Nothing's there.

"I'm dreaming...or going crazy," I decide.

I go back to bed and snuggle next to Adam.

"You okay?" He asks groggy.

"Yeah," I smile.

He nods and holds me tighter.

"I love you," I return the embrace.

"Are you sure you're okay?"

"I was just thinking-"

"Oh oh," he sits up.

Somehow I end up on his lap.

"Want to talk about it?"

I nod placing my head on his chest.

"I think I just saw someone outside," I begin.

"You're sleep deprived," he shrugs, "I should see crazy things too after what you've been through."

"What happened to my boyfriend and who are you?" I ask playfully.

"What?" He pretends to pout but starts laughing.

"Since when do you have the answers to everything?" I smile.

"Since I decided to read more...oh and I was doing better in school," he answers.

"You read?" I joke completely forgetting about my worries.

"What can I say? But I still hate the news so don't even try," he kisses my temple.

"Wow gee reassuring," I lean in to his touch.

Adam's P.O.V.

I know Chase is worried but I also know that everything he's been through is a part of it.

"Very reassuring," I agree.

"Let's sleep...I'm getting tired," he yawns.

"O'course," we lay back down.

An hour later I begin to dream of my life with Chase and our little girl. Its wonderful and no one can ruin it. Until I hear the cries of Audrey. I wake up quickly. But I notice Chase is gone. My heart starts pounding like crazy. I stumble out the room to see Chase holding Audrey close and talking to her.

"Daddy is tired so we need to be quiet," he whispers.

I can see her small fist curling and uncurling. That's when I realize she's feeding. She was hungry.

"I love you so much my baby girl, I don't mind the sleepless nights," he coos.

"Me either so next time wake me up," I smile lovingly.

"Adam!" He jumps startled.

"Hey babe."

"You should be sleeping," he frowns.

"I heard her cry and you weren't around," I say nonchalantly.

"Thanks," he says grateful.

He makes his way to the rocking chair with Audrey in his arms. He sits down carefully and rocks back and forth. I look down on them until she falls asleep.

"She'll wake up later...do you mind feeding her?" He asks.

"No, of course not! Wait...what exactly am I supposed to feed her?" I ask skeptical.

"I...kind of...expressed some milk for you to feed her," he answers shyly.

My eyes grow wide. Expressed?

"Really?"

"I mean if you want to," he mumbles shy.

I hear him sniffles as he gently lies a sleeping Audrey in her crib. I smile as she whimpers, missing her papa's warmth. Gently I caress her chubby cheek.

"Chase..."

He turns around to hide from my gaze. I can tell that he's wiping his eyes. I stand behind him and wrap my arms around his waist. Instinctively, he leans toward my embrace.

"You know I would love too," I whisper in his ear.

"I hate these hormones," he hiccups.

"I know baby," I soothe.

"Sorry," he sighs.

"Ssh, it's okay. I'm just scared that I won't wake up," I smile.

"What?"

"I'm a heavy sleeper," I remind.

He turns in my arms so we're facing. I press a chaste kiss to his lips. He sighs contently this time around.

"We can't," he stops.

"You're almost healed completely though," I point out.

He nuzzles the crook of my neck.

"Too soon...Mr. Davenport said to wait at least a month," he says, voice muffled.

"Alright then let's get to bed," I say pulling his hand.

"That doesn't mean I can't help," he smirks.

"I love you," I smile.

"And I you. I have no regrets," he whispers as he leads us back to our room.
