(Before you start getting mad... I changed the end of this chapter. I wasn't quite ready for the fight yet, so I went and opened another walkway for writing! I hope you don't mind! Laterz!)
Well, could things get any worse? Never Ever ask that question! EVER! Okay, here's what happened, first, Liana and Alexa came in, their faces were downcast and seemingly defeated. Then Kristyn walked through the doors. Her hair strawberry blond and she had two guys following her. Not to mention she was in a tutu. That really confused me... to say the least.
"Kristyn?" Corinne said slowly as she approached the girl "What are you wearing and who are those guys?"
"I don't know how I got into the dress," Kristyn and answered "And the two guys are Hilarion and Albrecht. You know from the ballet?"
Corinne shook her head "Noooo. But I'm sure Aramina does."
"They're from the ballet Giselle!" Kristyn whispered "And they think I'm Giselle!"
"Seriously?"
"Giselle!" Albrecht said dramatically "Marry me!"
"No!" Hilarion shouted "Marry me!" They were catching quite a bit of attention.
"Guys! Guys!" Kristyn called, trying to quiet them down "I'm not marrying anyone!"
"She's only seventeen!" Corinne added.
Te two men gasped "Seventeen?" Albrecht asked exasperated then he lowered his voice "Better late than never."
Corinne's eyebrows lurched "You're joking."
"You don't look a day over fifteen!" Hilarion added quickly.
Kristyn looked at Corinne and shrugged "They've been bugging me all night."
"Where did they come from?"
That's when Hailey stepped in "She put on those shoes that Madame Katarina gave her and now she won't take them off!"
Corinne looked down at Kristyn's feet "You won't take off a pair of ballet slippers?"
"No!" Kristyn shook her head "They feel so good! They just make me feel like I could keep on dancing forever!"
"Now you sound like Genevieve." Then the school bell rang. Corinne glanced down the hall "I'll catch up with you later. Til then, try to keep tweedly-dee and tweedly-dum from purposing too many times, okay?" she went to walk away but stopped "And... keep them away from Aramina. They might get confused and she'll be smitten if they purpose to her." then she ran down the hall and slid into her seat just as the class started.
It was lunch time before Corinne had a chance to talk to Liana and Alexa. The two girls were sitting at a table alone. A golden heart-shaped mirror between them.
"Hi." She said as she slid into a seat across from them "What's wrong?"
Liana sighed "Our house got burned down last night."
"What!?" Corinne exclaimed "How?"
"A flying serpent was after Melody." Alexa explained "He was going through our house and we guess he must have knocked a chair or something into the fire."
"There's nothing left." Liana added "We don't know what to do."
Corinne nodded slowly, deep in thought "Wait. Who's Melody?"
The two girls pointed at the mirror.
Corinne's eyebrows lowered "Were... you in the house when it was on fire?"
"No." Liana shook her head "We ran to escape."
Okay, I'm thinking they're a little distressed and possibly loosing their minds. They're saying that this mirror between them has a name: Melody. And that a flying serpent wants it! Honestly, if this wasn't Mattel High, I'd be seriously worried.
At that moment, Kiera... er... Tori, went and sat with them "Hi."
"Hi Tori." Corinne said "How's the Popstar life?"
"Awesome!" Tori answered "It's like... Perfect! No Auntie A telling me what to do! I can act as crazy as I want! I..."
"Don't start singing." Corinne warned with a laugh.
"But it's been... A Perfect day!" Tori responded "I just want to sing and sing and sing!" then she jumped up and went skipping away.
"Sounds fun." Liana smiled "Just... sing."
Oh yeah, I'd forgotten that I was the only non-music-fanatic at the table. Whoops. Oh well.
"By the way." Alexa said "What happened to Genevieve?"
"What do you mean?" Corinne asked.
The Brunette pointed across the cafeteria "See for yourself."
Genevieve was dressed in... gray. Very dull gray and her hair was up in a bun.
"Whoa." Corinne mumbled "It looked like she fell in the gloomy bucket."
Genevieve looked over at them and ran over "Hi." she said as she slid into her seat "Please don't ask about the dress."
"I was going to, but if you insist."
"It's Duchess Rowena." Genevieve groaned "Father thinks that me and my sisters are too wild. So he asked his cousin to train us,"
Corinne snorted "Of all the cousins."
"I know!" Genevieve dropped her head in her hands "She's taken away everything! There is no color left anywhere! It's depressing!"
"We know what you mean." Liana sighed "Our home isn't exactly colorful anymore either."
Corinne looked down at her hands. There had to be a way to stop this! There just had to be!
Well, other than that, the day went pretty normal. Except Elina got in a Luminescence fight with Sunburst. Painted the whole school before Azure popped in and undid everything. There was that slight Preschool moment. You know, the "She Started It!" thing.
But honestly, I was ready to retire when I walked into my house.
"What's going on in school?" Marie, Corinne's mother asked.
"Nothing much, just evil teachers, flying serpents, mirrors with names and swapped identities." Corinne answered casually, then she laughed at her mother's face "You don't want to know what all is going on." she picked up a glass of water and took a long drink.
"Have you talked to Louis recently?"
Corinne choked on the liquid and managed to swallow it before she started coughing uncontrollably "What!? Mom!"
"I was teasing, Honey." Marie laughed "Why don't you go do your chores? Dinner will be ready soon."
"Alright." Corinne grabbed her jacket and walked out the door to the barn "Hello, Alexander." she greeted as she patted the horse's nose.
"Corinne!" A voice said behind her.
She spun around but saw no one... only a swan.
Corinne stared at it. She was supposed to know something about that swan. She was sure.
Just then, the sun sank below the horizon and the swan began to glow. A second later there stood Odette.
Corinne laughed with relief "Hey! Sorry, I already forgot... you know."
"Yeah. I know." Odette sighed "Sorry if I startled you, but I need help."
Corinne nodded "Sure. What?"
"I need you to go to the School's library and talk to Erasmas, the Troll." Odette said quickly "I'd do it but the library's only open during school hours and,.."
"The sun's up." Corinne finished "What do I need to get from Erasmas?"
"See if he has the book of Forest Lure." Odette answered "It holds the information about the Crystal."
"So, bring you the book?"
"Yeah. I'm the only one that can open it."
"Okay." Corinne finally said "I'll see what I can do. I'll bring it to you as soon as I can."
"Thanks!" Odette quickly hugged her "And maybe, you can find out some more on the subject, you know. How to break the spell."
"I'll try."
"Thank you so much! I have to run." Odette turned and walked from the barn "See you soon!"
Corinne picked up a pitchfork "Trolls. Forest Lure. Curses." she shook her head "But none of those are as scary as the Library!"
(Thanks for the help, Mariolka. You actually gave me the idea for this alternate route! Laterz!)
