[ The next Morning ]

Laying her forehead against the edge of the desk as her breathing began to slow down, it was clear the woman wasn't exactly 100 % but it wouldn't be in her exact nature to either admit it or show it in front of anyone else. Shit. She locked herself in her own private quarters which was give after the last deputy commissioner retired. The lingering smell of cheap cigars, but it was still a new transition. Over the past few days she managed to clear out the scent. Though another scent wandered into her nose, it sort of smelled like make up, Annie? Hearing the light footsteps it was obvious it wasn't her partner.

Setting down a cup of coffee a man gently set his hand on the woman's shoulder, only to have his wrist grabbed, pushed back into the wall with almost inhuman force, and facing a pair of emerald eyes. Blushing at the close contact with the woman he began to stutter " E-Evangeline! Wait ! It's me!"

Her eyes opened wide as she released her grip on him, and took a step back. "Sorry, you surprised me at how close you got without making a sound."

Chuckling softly he rubbed the back of his head "Remind me to wear a bell from now on."

A faint blush spread across her face, as she turned to organize the desk. "So what brings you in here?"

"The rest of the force is worried about you, and thought you needed a break. "

"I'm fine, besides crime doesn't take a day off"

Smiling in admiration "How long have you been on the force?"

"Little over 6 years I believe"

"You don't say?"

"Yup, Parents were against it. Wanted me to be a nurse. But that wasn't the way I wanted to help people."

"One of these days I'd love to tackle a case with you."

This caught her attention, his cerulean eyes made contact with her emerald eyes.

"Uh! I mean in a respectful manner of course!" Rubbing the back of his head as he laughed nervously as he began to sweat. Without thinking he pulled out a handkerchief and wiped his fore head. "Is it hot in here or am I going crazy?"

Walking over to the door, Evangeline shut it slowly and than locked the door. "Please sit Mister Go." Pulling out a chair , than making her way behind her desk. Her fingers clasped together, as her mood changed slightly.

Noticing the dramatic change, Jacob sat down and chuckled nervously. "What's the matter?"

"I'm going to ask you something, and all I want is the truth. "

"Truth?"

"Yesterday, you received severe trauma to your head and body. Later that evening you were able to walk around as if nothing happened. And today, you're completely healed, yet you're wearing make up to make it seem as though you're still badly bruised... you're unique aren't you."

Blushing he glanced up to see her expression soften, it was clear that she knew his abilities yet didn't mind them at all. "That's one way of putting it." Sighing softly he reclined against the chair. "Ever since I could remember every single cut, or bruise would heal within the hour. " Glaring down at his hand as he clenched his fist. "...I was experimented on by my father... his reason being that he wanted to create a cure for cancer. But all he wanted was a mindless soldier."

Sighing softly Evangeline combed her bangs back. "I didn't mean to pry..."

"No, I should have known better than to try to fool you. After all you're becoming a living legend throughout the force ."

Turning around as she opened the binds enough for the sun's rays to illuminate the entire room. "They give me way too much credit. I'm just like anyone out there, just an average person, like you"

"I see... Thank you"

Perking an eyebrow up as she turned around "For what?"

"For addressing me as average, and a person." He smiled and walked over to the woman. Her emerald eyes glistened, her black hair was glossy. Reaching for her hand, as he brought it to his lips, he kissed it gently and smiled." From this day forward allow me to be your shield. You can count on me to protect you from any and everything." Bowing once he turned around fixing the bandage on his face before walking out. As the door opened, a brunette stood in the middle with her knuckles above her eye level.

"Hello Jacob."She spoke softly before setting her hand by her side.

"Good Morning Annabelle, if you'll excuse me. I need to report for a good day!"

Walking inside as she closed the door behind her, Annabelle looked up at Evangeline, it was the first time she had seen her blush before. "We have another mission"

[A few months later]

Evangeline looked over at the clock, it almost seemed as though time was taunting her. Due to her black sunglasses, it was impossible to tell where she was focused. Unlike any other tonight she wore a black slim tuxedo, with a double breasted burgundy colored vest, with a white collared shirt and black tie. , her tail coat reached past her waist. Adjusting the leather gloves that she wore, as she walked into another."My Mistress, it is time"

A brunette with a hime cut wearing a traditional flower kimono kept her gaze forward, as two men held her by her shoulders. "Hawkeye, finish them off."

Unbuttoning her cat, as she pulled out silver magnum, and a black one, shooting twice, she shot the men in the foot before spinning her guns once and putting them away before going on one knee before the woman. The men shout in pain, as the fell backward, across the other side of the room, an obese man with a thick beard could only shake at the woman's ruthlessness.

"I said finish them off! Must I repeat myself?"

Evangeline stood up once more before taking out her guns and pointing to each head. Before her finger ever had the chance to take off the safety the older man began to plead.

"No! no! Don't hurt my nephews! Please I'll tell you anything you need to know!"

"Stop Hawkeye" The brunette walked over to the man desk, as she smiled "You mustn't keep a lady waiting, it's rude."

Evangeline glimpsed over at Annabelle, it was eerie how well she could play the villain. But kept a stern expression.

"Tonight, before the exchange. The girl will be held hostage on a ship!"

"That's all I needed to know." Walking away the brunette smirked, "Let's go" As the doors closed, Anna didn't glimpse back or even say a word. Something has been bothering her since Jacob joined the force. Why did he have no record? Is he who he says he is?

"My-"

"Don't talk unless spoken to." Her speed suddenly increased, as she walked out of the mansion and jumped into the back seat of the car.

Sighing softly, Anna had been treating her so coldly ever since Jacob confessed his feelings to Evangeline on Valentine's day. Evangeline got in the driver's seat, and headed toward the dock. Watching a band of suspicious men, Eva glimpsed back and caught a nod from Anna, who tied up her hair, and changed into her regular uniform. Stepping out of the car, both women sneaked their way into another cargo bin. The box shifted due to uneven weight, bumping into Evangeline, Anna blushed.

"Annie, what's the matter? Ever since Jacob came, you've been avoiding me. You even requested a different partner..."

"It's nothing"

"...I understand what that means."

"Focus so we know who to bust."

"I hate to look into those eyes, and see an ounce of pain~"

"Stop"

"Her hair reminds me of a warm safe place~" Her voice was soft and seemed to echo nicely.

Fighting back the tears and refraining from yelling she hissed"How can you trust a man with no record? No history! NOTHING!"

"...He can't replace my bestfriend"

Anna froze once she was picked up by Eva, but stayed quiet.

"You know, I figured some day one of us would find love. I just didn't figure it would be me."

"You love him?"

Blushing she hugged Anna

"Tch, I can't believe you stooped that low to use such a song"

She laughed before scratching the back of her head. "I did it because I missed you."

"Cheap shot."

The crane finally set down the crate, as it began to back away. Listening intently for the faintest sound, or movement, the women stayed as still as possible. In their determination to rescue the little girl. The boat seemed for the most part abandoned, slowly searching , the rooms both women stopped when they heard the sounds of laughter echoing though the vents. With a single nod, Eva gave Anna a boost. Finding blue prints of the ship, she began making her way to the main deck. Anna followed overhead, serving as a guide to where the voices came from.

Drawing her magnum guns, she took the safety off, kicking the door pen she was surprised to see two drunk men slouched over the table holding cards. Though something seemed off about this picture, whether it was the fact that one had his head buried in dip, and was changing into a different color, she couldn't put her figure on it. Walking over as she pressed to figures on his neck trying to find a heat beat for either one.

Both men were dead, walking out of the room, she climbed up a ladder to find herself by the main deck. The little girl was strapped in the middle, looking for any suspicious traps, Evangeline ran towards the girl, freeing her from the ropes. Suddenly a gun shot was heard, a crate creaked, glancing up a crane showed up over head.

"Get out of the way!" Anna cried

"Catch her!" Throwing the unconscious girl towards Anna, with no regards to her safety. Her vision went black.
