Slowly emerald eyes opened, due to the monitor's constant beeping. Evangeline awoke and found herself in a white hospital gown attached to three different machines. A strange burning sensation irritated her arm. Taking a glance at her body she noticed her left arm in a cast, and her right connected to a heart monitor as well as a morphine machine. Sitting up rapidly remembering the case she had been working on and her near death experience, the monitors began to sound as several nurses and doctors came running in only to find the room empty. Baffled they warned the security members of an escaped patient but all were in vain since the patient had already left the building more than an hour ago.

Walking out of the hospital Evangeline managed to steal a sling and make her way over to the station. Wearing her slim fit tuxedo, her vest was buttoned up, but her tie was tucked inside her coat. Walking inside, she caught everyone's attention. All the officers stood up and saluted her; confused she made her way to Annabelle's desk. But found that it had been moved in her office, walking inside as Anna jumped to her feet and wrapped her arms around her friend.

"Eva! You're okay! "

Wincing Evangeline managed to smile, though something caught her attention, Annabelle wore a black ribbon on her left arm. "Of course I am. I have more lives than a cat remember?"

Anna chuckled softly"Right our Catwoman"

"Where's the Commish? I thought he would bust my chops because I escaped the hospital."

"Y-you escaped?!" Even after knowing her for so many years it seems Evangeline still managed to surprise her.

"Well I mean, technically I walked right out the door."

"Are you alright though? I mean to even be walking?"

"Yes, just a bruise here and a scratch there but it's nothing really. "

Annabelle sighed softly and cleared her throat before straightening her uniform." Ready to work Commissioner De la Cruz? "

"You forgot deputy, any-" pausing before running to the commissioner's office. Noticing the previous name had been cleaned off and replaced with her own, the bold letters suggested one thing, she stopped; her hand hovered above the door knob. As her head rested against the door for a second mentally preparing her of what to expect.

"Commissioner, are you alright?" A deep voice asked concerned.

"Fine, Detective." Her fingers grasped the door as it was than pushed open. Walking inside she saw the office was clean, paperwork was neatly filed in cabinets it looked empty to her. Walking over to the desk as she picked up an envelope addressed to the commissioner. Unfolding the letter inside, it read. Come and get me if you can Commissioner.

Growling she fought back her tears, her last mission involved one psychopath that was hell bent on destroying Go City. It was her and Annabelle's mission to bust this man. But due to what she believed to be a set up, she wound up in the hospital. "Anna, what happened to him?"

"He saved you... "

"So I wasn't dreaming. The commish really did push me out of the way. "

Anna nodded "The girl made it out alright, her name was Betty. "

"... Why was he there?"

"She was given back to her mother and father "

"Okay, but why did he keep tabs on us?"

" It turns out the Comi-... Zachary had a rivalry with Weasel. They were comrades until police academy where Weasel committed murder due to hallucinations caused by narcotics. "

"Before we even think of going after him, we're going to do some cleaning."

"Cleaning?"

"Background checks, and psychological tests on every police officer."

"You believe there is a traitor amongst us?"

"Rescuing the girl was far too easy, not to mention the security was a joke."

"Where do we start?"

[ 5 years later- Go city]

It almost seemed like there wasn't enough time in one day, seconds turned to minutes as minutes turned to hours and hours turned to days. Evangeline rested her feet on the desk, as she reclined back. Crime in Go City was finally dying down, due to drug lords and gang leaders being put away. Her staff was the best of the best; every single officer pulled their weight around. She had successfully managed to get rid of the corrupted cops, and brought in a era of tranquility. But with Weasel still running loose it would only be a matter of time before more crime was provoked.

Knocking on the door before walking inside, Anna closed the door behind her. Realizing that Evangeline was asleep, she made her way over to the desk and took a seat on it. Her long brown hair now was cut in a hime form. Her blouse was white tucked inside her black skirt as she leaned forward brushing Evangeline's hair out of her face.

"If you're trying to seduce me, than next time bring whipped cream"

Caught off guard Anna fell forward, blushing bright red as Evangeline wrapped her arms around her waist. "I .. uh..."

"It's a joke Annie." Smiling she let the woman down on her feet "What's on your mind?"

"... We caught Weasel"

Blinking twice she closed her eyes. "..."

"Eva... did you hear me?"

"How?"

"He got careless, and he left a trail of bread crumbs."

She chuckled softly "Congratulations Annabelle Beaumont."

"Thank you Commissioner."

"No, not any more."

"What?"

"I'm retiring as commissioner... I've done my duty. I made the force better and the city safer with everyone's help of course."

"But why?"

"I believe it would be hard to raise a family when you're the boss of the entire police station." She ended the sentence with a smile.

"He- He proposed? "

Nodding as she stood up, " Yes, about four years ago."

"Tha- " For the first time Annabelle watched as her best friend smile brightly for the first time in years. "That's great Eva, I'm happy for you."

Another year passed as the Go family was blessed with their first child, Henry Go. Annabelle was occupied with watching over the departments, and came over a couple times a month. Three years after the couple was blessed with another boy, Melvin Go. Annabelle made fewer trips until their third child was born, Setsuna Go. Annabelle found herself by the young girl's side when ever give the chance. She found that the young girl was almost like her mother, the same stubbornness, but what had set them apart the most was Setsuna's sense of obligation. Setsuna nicknamed Shego by her brothers since they played a game called super heroes, was a remarkable child. Annabelle had taught the girl how to think strategically think, overpower her opponent, even how to use a gun without her parents knowledge. Shego was a child prodigy, who wanted to be like her mother. Keep Go City safe from any kind of chaos, and protect its citizens. Annabelle soon grew very fond of the young girl, as the years passed by. Even Shego enjoyed her presence, it was a relief from her bossy, and self centered older brothers.

[ 13 years later ]

Henry now the age of 14 was a tall boy, his chiseled chin resembled his father's, but his smile would reflect his mother's. Melvin was a slender 11 year old boy who resembled his father, Shego the third child exactly like her mother, was now helping their mother take care of the new additions to their families. Wilbur and Wallace.

Evangeline always took the time to dedicate to her children, whether it was helping Henry with his sports, or Melvin with his homework, or even Shego with her training, she made things fair. And although their father would often return home often tired, he would try and do the same.

But it wouldn't take long for someone to disrupt the family harmony...

The day started off normal, Evangeline dropped the elder ones at school, bid them a good day, and dropped off her youngest sons in kindergarten, swearing that she would be there when they would come out, so they could feel more at ease; especially knowing their mother always kept her promises. But no one could prepare them for what would happen next.

Evangeline's day started off normal dropping off her kids at school and running some errands, until she arrived home. Her phone rang, curious she picked up, and heard footsteps approaching before being able to turn around she was knocked out.

Struggling to open her eyes she winced as she felt a steady stream of blood dripped down the side of her head.

"Eva.. Eva please open your eyes"

Opening her eyes once more, Evangeline searched the room and found a half beaten brunette chained up to the wall. Shocked she stood up to run to her side but found that a couple of chains pulled her back into place. Surprised she surveyed the room for the first time, and found that they were chained in what appears to be a warehouse. It was big, but empty no doubt the person who brought them their either was lingering around, or stepped out.

"Annie… who?" It seemed like forming sentences triggered a migraine

"Weasel…" she muttered before coughing up a bit of blood.

"Anna!" Trying to reach the brunette again, Evangeline stood up and made her way once more, kneeling before her panting softly.

"Oh don't worry about her Miss Evangeline, though I must apologize for how rough my grunts were. Sometimes they just don't know their own strength." A deep voice echoed through the empty warehouse, stepping into the sun light stood a slender man who was very pale and his blonde hair was neatly cut. He wore a white tuxedo with a green tie.

Kneeling down, as he pulled out a handkerchief wiping away the blood from her face, and smiled. "There, better I would hope"

"Keep your hands off of her Dirtbag!" Annabelle growled

"Tch "Picking up a cane, he swiftly hit Anna in the stomach, she leaned forward and spat up more blood "How impure Annabelle"

Confused Evangeline looked up at the man as she narrowed her eyes. Weasel. She though before speaking "What do you want with us?"

Turning away as he smiled at her once more, "We've played this cat and mouse game for five years my dear Evangeline. I thought you of all people would understand."

"Vengeance?"

"No it's not something as petty as that. You took down my empire bit by bit, until you found me… not an easy task my dear. While I was incarcerated I couldn't help but wonder about you. Who was the newly appointed Commissioner? And where did she come from?"

"I didn't know I was that interesting."

"Oh you are, a poor orphan girl, with a foster family who took you in cared and loved you. Your devotion to keep the streets clean, your values, I've never met anyone so pure of heart"

"I'll be sure to tell my husband what you think."

"Alas, he doesn't deserve you. Nor does this one." He gestured over at Anna.

"What?" She exclaimed in surprise

"Oh, you don't know…"he walked over to Annabelle's chain "Now is your chance" lifting her up by her hair he smiled.

"I'll kill you" she managed to mutter softly.

"Leave her alone!" Rising up, she realized the cuffs weren't properly closed, slipping her wrists out she charged towards him. Tackling him down, she struggled to pin him down on the floor, it seemed he was reluctant to use brunt force on her but wasn't too happy being pinned down.

Escaping her grasp, he took a firm grip on Anna. Reaching into his pocket he held a needle by her throat. "Calm down I have a proposition for you…"
