Anyeonghassaeyo... Welcome to my fanfiction (if you're knew to my fanfiction). My name is JungHyunBin. And today, I'm posting the newest chapter of No Better Father Than You.
I know what I'm doing is actually kinda stupid, I mean why am I introducing myself in the middle of a fanfiction? I should have done that in the begining. But they don't call me crazy for nothing.
Well, maybe I'm acting this way, because it's been decades since I last updated. I have been having so many tests, additional lessons, try outs, presentations, OMG... I'm exhausted. And to make it worse, I have another try out next week. Gaah! So, please forgive me if I haven't been updating, and thank you so much for your cooperation and patience, I really appreciate it...
Anyways, I don't have anything else to say, so without further ado, here is Chapter 12 of NBFTY...
Enjoy...
PS : I don't own EXO...

Tao's mind was racing. He couldn't think properly. Why was Kai doing this? He thought Kai was Kris's close friend. Why would he risk killing him? Kai looked at Tao and began to count.
"1..."
"Kai, don't do this, please..."
"2..."
"KAI!"
"3..." Kai's hand moved quickly towards stabbing Kris. Tao widened his eyes, and in his mind, his thoughts went screaming one word...
"Stop..."
Tao ran straight for Kai, trying to at least push him away from Kris, yet he knew he wasn't going to make it. He looked at Kai, seeing the mischievous smirk on his face, as the knife in his hand had touched Kris's upper abdomen. Tao panicked, would he make it?
He then saw it. Kai stopped moving for a second. With that, Tao finally had a chance to push Kai away from Kris. Tao moved quickly, as he did what he had planned, yet he knew he was right. He wasn't fast enough. Tao saw as Kris grunted, looking at the wound he had just received from an old friend.
"I told you for the last time, I WASN'T READY!"
Kris put his hand over his cut, not because it hurt, but he didn't want Tao to see it. He didn't want his son to worry for him. He had a long night, and something like this would make him freak out. Kris walked towards a wooden chair which and sat down. Lay quickly walked towards Kris, preparing himself to heal another patient. Lay sighed. He had been healing so many injuries since last night. He felt a bit tired, but he didn't want Kris hurt, especially because of his leader. Kris had been one of Lay's friends back on Exo, and he had missed him. He felt like he 'had' to do this. Lay started to heal Kris, who was currently looking at Kai. Kai only looked down. He now felt a bit bad for the boy. He thought it would have worked, infact, he was sure it would've worked, but it didn't. Kai thought hard. What excuse was good enough to save him from a situation like this? He looked at the teenage boy infront of him.
"But you did save him" Kai began. Tao widened his eyes as he looked at Kai. No one noticed, but Kai was actually trembling. Kai clenched his fists hard, you could actually see his knuckles growing white. Kai dug into his mind, trying to find the right words to use, so that he doesn't upset Tao.
Kai looked around, trying to find something to help him think, until he then realized something. He looked at Kris who sitting down, while Lay healed his wound. Kai then cocked his eyebrow, staring at Kris's torso. It wasn't actually much of a wound. It was only a minor cut. He remembered that his position earlier was right in front of Kris, and that it was technically impossible for him to wound Kris without having the knife cut into him. Kai opened his mouth, hoping that he had found the right words to use...
"Tao, you pushed me out of the way..."
"Yeah, of course I did, who wouldn't. But, Kris still got-"
"A cut. A small cut. Didn't you notice that Kris wasn't technically injured that bad? That he only got a small cut instead of a knife in his stomach?". Tao looked at the wound in his father's stomach, and widened his eyes. He looked back at Kai...
"Sure, but-"
"From the position I was in earlier, shouldn't the knife cut 'into' Kris's stomach instead of leaving a minor cut on him?". Tao thought for a while. Kai was right. The knife should have went through Kris's skin intead of only cutting him. While Tao was thinking, Kai had been trying very hard to show that he wasn't nervous. He was hoping Tao would believe him, because one thing is for sure, Kai was basically swinging this as he go.
"Tao, I'm sorry..." Kai said. Tao looked at Kai. Should he forgive him? Tao sighed. He looked at the quite tan man infront of him, seeing that he really was sorry for what he had done. Tao was about to forgive him, but hesitated a little. Who would easily forgive someone who had almost killed his father? Well, not exactly kill, to the fact that Kris was actually quite stronger than he looks, but to Tao, he had always seen him as his father who could get hurt easily because he was HUMAN, not some kind of alien from outer space. And anyways, Lay was also there, so he could help heal him.
Kris stood up from his seat, with his wound completely healed, thanks to Lay, and walked towards the two. He looked at his son, "Tao, it's okay, I'm fine". Tao looked at his father. He quickly pulled him into a hug, and for some reason, Tao hugged him quite harder than usual. He was afraid. He really didn't want to lose his father. Kris's hand went up and brushed his son's head. "I'm always here for you, okay?". Tao pulled back from that hug and nodded. He then looked back at Kai. Tao took in a deep breath as he opened his mouth.
"I forgive you". With that, Tao walked back into his room, and closed the door. He walked towards his bed, and lied down for a minute. His body was limp, while his mind ached. He couldn't think straightly. His room was quiet, yet he could here voices from outside his door. At least he knew he wasn't alone. He stared blankly into his ceiling, as he started to drift into his thoughts.
"Time control? Is that even possible?". Tao started to replay the memories of last night. He remembered everything so clearly. He remembered how he froze time to save his dad, or at least, he thought he froze time. Did he really do that? If he did, how did he even do it? He wasn't an alien like everyone who was currently right outside his room, talking about something he didn't even bother to know about. More things like that would probably give his mind a massive headache. But back to the matter, how was Tao able to do that? Tao was startled, when he suddenly heard a knock on his door. "Come in" he said. From behind the door, came out a fair man, with brown hair, Suho. He walked up to the boy, and sat on the edge of his bed. "You okay?". Tao sat up so that he was face to face with him.
"Shouldn't you already know the answer? Can't you see into my mind?". Suho sighed. He put his hand on Tao's shoulder. "I actually do think it's time control. You have an amazing gift, all you need to do is learn to use it". Tao looked down. He wishes it was that easy, but it's not. He never even knew he had such an ability. Since when had he had it?
"Maybe you've already had it from the day you were born". Tao looked at Suho. To the fact that he could see into his mind, was now starting to get a little bit awkward.
"Mianhae, Tao. I'll try not to look into your eyes"
"Gomawo, Suho hyung. It's just so weird right now. Yesterday, I was a normal teenager with a normal life. Now, it's like nothing I see makes sense anymore. I'm starting to question a lot of things. But the number one question in my head right now, how did I do what I did yesterday?"
"Many ways, actually. You were panicking, and maybe that encouraged you to use your ability"
"But how did I even HAVE that ability? Just so you know, I'm not an alien from outer space like you guys, I'm human"
"Some humans have rare abilities, like phsycics. You had a friend that was a future seer, right?". Tao looked at Suho, and cocked an eyebrow at him.
"I thought you said you weren't going to look into my mind"
"Well... I saw that earlier, when we were with the others, so I already knew that before I came in here". Tao mouthed a long "Oh" and nodded at Suho. Suho looked at Tao and eyed him. He knew he said he wouldn't see into his mind, but for some reason, he couldn't stop. He felt attached to this teenage boy, as if he had to protect him from anything that harms him. This must be the feeling Kris has towards Tao. Suho smiled. It must be nice to have a son.
Suho peeked a tiny bit into Tao's thoughts, and saw a mixture of fear, exhaustion, and yet, his mind had a huge amount of curiosity. Suho knew, that Tao wanted to know more of this power. Suho opened his mouth, about to tell Tao that he might be able to help him with his powers a little, but then shut his mouth back closed. If he said something like that, Tao would find out that he's been seeing into his mind, even though he said he wouldn't.
"Suho hyung, can you help me?"
"What is it?". Basically, Suho didn't need to say that. He already knew what he needed, and Suho's answer was yes.
"Can you help me with my powers? Anything to empower it? But not like what Baekhyun and Kai did to me earlier. I don't want that". Suho looked at Tao and smiled. He then nodded at Tao as an answer. Tao then smiled, as you could see the bags in his eyes somewhere through his dark circles, which was actually in the middle of cool and cute. Cool, because it made him look somewhat dark and mysterious, and cute, because it made him look like an adorable panda.
"Gomawo, Suho hyung!". Tao looked at Suho. There was something about him, something that made Tao feel comfortable around him, as if he was a second father or something, yet of course Kris was his father. What was it? Could it be the way Suho talks or acts? Or the way he treated him? Tao kept thinking, but the more Tao thought of it, he realized that Suho wasn't very fatherly, instead, Tao thought that he was much more motherly instead of fatherly, which was weird because Suho was a guy, but it wasn't impossible either. It was actually possible for a guy to have a very mother-like character. Tao the smiled.
Suho looked at Tao and cocked an eyebrow at him. Suho had seen everything his mind was thinking of. "Motherly, huh?" He thought. Suho couldn't help but let out a small chuckle. Tao looked at Suho with confusion.
"What's so funny?". Suho looked at Tao, and only smiled.
"Nothing..."
~oOOOo~
"Hyung, I can't do it..."
"Yes you can, just do it"
Tao and Suho had told Kris, that the two of them were going for a walk to the park to practise a bit of Tao's powers, but for some reason, Tao wasn't getting anywhere. He's been meditating for so long, and he was starting to lose his patience.
"Hyung, I don't think I'm getting anywhere"
"Tao, you can't learn the powers of time control in only a few hours, it takes time"
"It's so hard..."
"That's what you believe. Whether you think you can, or you can't, you're right"
"What's that suppose to mean?". Suho looked at Tao who was currently sitting on the park bench. "It means, that if you think that you can't do it, then you will never do it. But if you think you can, and if you know you can, then you will be able to do it, no matter how long it takes. You will do it".
Tao sighed, listening to Suho's words. Maybe he was right. Maybe if he believed he could do it, he would be able to use and master his powers. But right now, Tao was mentally tired. He's been meditating there for hours. His head was aching so bad, he couldn't think for another second. Tao moaned of pain, as he rested his head on his hands.
Suho looked at Tao. Poor boy, he's been trying so hard. Suho rested his hand on Tao's shoulder. "Why don't we take a break? You look tired". Tao raised his head and looked at Suho. He then nodded as an answer. The two of them stood up and started to walk back towards Tao's apartment.
As the two walked, they suddenly saw something that caught their eyes, a woman. She wore a dark brown skirt, high heels, and a light grey raincoat. She also wore a hat and some sunglasses. Tao and Suho could tell that she was looking at the two of them. The woman the smiled a devilish smile as she removed her sun glasses, revealing her face. Tao and Suho's eyes had widened to see the owner of that face.
"Averna..."
Cliffhanger! Again... Sorry, but I somewhat rushed into this one, and some of my friends had been begging me to update, and I couldn't really make it one of my best... Plus, I think this chapter is pretty short, and I'll probably make it up in the next chapter. Hold on ok...
And I'm thinking of a fight, what do you think?
Oh, and special thanks to one of my friends who helped me a bit with this chapter. Originally, I was gonna make Tao freeze time at that moment where Kai was going to stab Kris, but if you think about it, that would be WAY too predictable, and then I thought again... What kind of persons learns to master the arts of Time Control at that very moment? That's just crazy. So I made him fail for his first time :p Mianhae...
Anyways, I think that's pretty much all from me... Please be kind enough to leave me a review, hope you like this short chapter, and I promise I won't take too long to update the next chapter...
