Chapter 4

She was beginning to realise how far down in her memory she'd buried her teenage years, or at least a part of them, when a question from Lily stumped her for a good couple of minutes.

"Aunt Ginny," the girl said, "why does Daddy have a picture holding your hand?"

Ginevra Weasley, now Ginevra Longbottom, looked at her 10 year old niece a bit confused. Why would Harry have a picture of them holding... Oh! She remembered now what it was. Fifteen years and six boyfriends later, after finding the love of her life in the last man she expected, marrying him within two months of dating, and pregnant with her third child, Ginny had sort of blocked the memories of her hero worship of Harry, and had especially tried to put away the little time they had spent together as boyfriend and girlfriend. It had been hard at first, letting go of the first man she had been in love with, but nowadays she saw him as another older brother and that loved was much more natural, it felt wrong to remember him in any other way.

"Well sweetheart" she started, picking Lily up and putting her on her lap, " when we were in Hogwarts, Daddy and I were boyfriend and girlfriend for a little while." The picture in question had been taken by Collin, a few days into their relationship, a testament of the attempt they had made of being together in such rough times.

"Then why is Daddy Mommy's boyfriend now? Is he still your boyfriend?" the little girl asked, a suspicious look on her face. Ginny considered herding her back to her mother's side, but she loved her like she was her own, and those big green eyes had a way of making her do things she'd rather not. "No, of course not, sweetie. Sometimes, people stop being each others boyfriends and girlfriends and find other people to be happy with. You dad and I, we were together for a little while at Hogwarts, but eventually we separated and found the people we were supposed to be with, in his case Hermione, your mom, in my case Uncle Nev."

The little girl jumped from her lap, looking surprised-

"So Kieran is wrong?"

"Who is Kieran, Lily?"

"Kieran is a boy from school, he said he's my boyfriend and that boyfriends and girlfriends stay together forever and ever, but I don't even like to play with him! It's not like that, is it Aunt Ginny?"

"You know who would love to answer that question? Your Daddy. HARRY!" Ginny yelled towards the vback of the house, an amused smile on her face as she anticipated the look on Harry's face when he received this piece of news.
