Hello again! so this chapter has changed a lot, as much as I liked the last one. I thought this one seemed to fit Dan more and gave young Patrick an innocence that a lot of trusting people have at first. Thank you for all those who reviewed the last chapter you rock! Anyways see you next week.

Chapter 19

Diabolical, Adjective:
Belonging to or so evil as to recall the devil.

It was pretty much the best word that one person could come up, when describing Dan Scott. He was a man on a mission or at least he had been till that night several weeks ago. I hadn't started out that day with a plan of running someone over. I hadn't even planed to drive through Tree Hill. I had missed the turn off for the interstate, thanks to road closers due to the storm that had been raging around me while I was trying to make my way back to Savannah. I'd been living in Norfolk Virginia for a while now; and at the request of my mother was driving back to Savannah as all flights were cancelled because of the storm.

To me it felt like I had known that town my whole life, well at least for part of it, Haley talked about it so much, their senior year of high school. See Haley and Nathan were my older brother Tyler's friends. They had moved to Savannah the middle of their junior year, at the time I didn't know the full story all I knew was that, something had made them leave the town they had grown up in.

As the deluge of rain made it harder for me to see the road head of me; I had decided as much as my parents wanted me to get back to Savannah that night it just wasn't going to happen. Well not at a decent hour anyway, I pulled into an empty parking lot and found the one cark park that wasn't lit by street lights. That way if anyone was drive past they wouldn't wonder what someone was doing there.

I'd seen Dan drive into the car park about half an hour later, I wasn't going to make myself known to him at all. It was during this lull in the constant downpour that I heard what Dan was going to do; He had been standing outside talking to someone, on a cell phone it was just like Dan to not worry about who heard him, He knew or at least thought no one would be out in a storm like that, that late at night. I hadn't quite caught all of what he said. But I caught enough to know that what he had done to me, my freshman year at Stanford, was what he was going to do to someone here, someone named Julian.

Flashback

An eighteen year old Patrick looked around; he'd finally made it to Stanford his dream school. It just happened to be a perk that Nathan and Haley went here and his brother and sister-in-law were not that far away. Unlike the four of them he had a dorm room; he would be living on campus and be able to have the full college experience.
They weren't in Savannah anymore no one here apart from four people knew that he was Tyler Rolling's little brother, and as his brother wasn't attending Stanford which just made it even better. Patrick didn't have anyone to live up to. Professors wouldn't have any expectations. Here was a fresh start one where he could create his own destiny.

Or so he thought, it was half way through his freshman year when Dan Scott showed up again. He asked Patrick if he could help him, all he wanted to do was meet his great nephew but for some reason Nathan and Haley didn't want to have a bar of him. That really should have been the first clue, but it wasn't Patrick said Dan could come over later as, he was looking after both Jamie and Susie while their parents actually went out and acted their age for once. Their regular babysitter someone from Admin had called and said she was stuck at work, Patrick had offered right away. Jamie and Susie were two of the cutest kids in the world. They were also the easiest to look after. Patrick had the added bonus of it would keep his partying roommate out of their room so he could study. It was a win all round. Dan was over the moon and said he would be by later.

When later came the look on Dan's face should have been a dead giveaway as to why Nathan and Haley didn't want Dan anywhere near Jamie. Patrick let him in and showed him the two little ones fast asleep on his bed. Dan looked around the room and smirked. It was a typical college dorm room. Two eighteen year old guys, it was a mess well most of it. Patrick was a bit of a neat freak so his little area was clean.

"He's so, sweet looks like Nathan and that age although I can see his mother in him too." Said Dan smiling and running a finger over Jamie's cheek, Patrick nodded and looked over at his desk. Shaking his head, he'd finish studying later walking over to the small portable fridge he opened it and rolled his eyes. Typical his roommate had filled it with booze. Speaking off he could hear the calls and crying coming down the hall, He and his buddies were coming to get said, booze.

"Do you mind watching them for like a minute? I'm going to run this to the people cat calling down the hall so that they don't wake them up" Dan nodded and watched as Patrick grabbed what he needed and headed out.

"Stupid kid" Dan muttered looking back down at Jamie, yeah he could see Hadies in him alright he'd take him too if he wasn't in a crowded dorm with a hall way full of drunk co-eds. That would teach Nathan a lesson he'd never forget, yes and the only way they would get the kid back was if Nathan left that witch and came home with him. Unfortunately Dan wasn't that lucky. Shrugging he took out the card he had made earlier and placed it in what he was guessing was Jamie's diaper bag. A couple of minutes later Patrick had come back to the room, and all looked well. Nothing was out of place well nothing unusual anyway. Dan nodded and said he should leave before Nathan and Haley came back and found out that he had been here, and that it wouldn't be good for Patrick in the long run even though he was only being helpful.

End

What I hadn't known until Nathan and Haley called me, after they got home- Nathan screaming down the phone line so loudly that it woke my hung over roommate- was that Dan had left them a card, one saying that they were just lucky that I lived in a crowded dorm, and if it hadn't been so busy; They wouldn't have Jamie. Needless to say after my brother found out that I had let a perfect stranger into my room, without prior approval from them and then left said stranger with my niece and Jamie while I left the room. Well I was banished from the inner circle. Jamie and Susie had grown up knowing each other and knowing their parents but never knowing me. It was a price I paid for being so trusting for not reading the signs. I knew in that moment that I couldn't let that happen to someone else. If anything that Julian guy wouldn't have to learn from my mistakes. So as I watched Dan that night and as the rain started to fall again, I knew I had to do something drastic. So when he came out, with a smirk on his face thinking he was going to change someone else's life. I decided to change his. I knew that he'd probably figure it was me. But I didn't have as much to lose. So that is why I ran Dan Scott over, during one of the worst storms North Carolina has seen in a while. I did it in the hope that maybe, and that was a big maybe it would teach Dan a lesson. That he couldn't play with people's lives and get away with it. If anything the only real thing I had done was give Nathan, Haley and the town of Tree Hill a reprieve from that psycho but even that was better than nothing.
