Chapter 11 (Kai's realization)

I was sitting in the Dark Trailmon's passenger section waiting to get home. I was hoping I didn't end up in a situation like Takuya when I turn into a half Digimon half-human creature. I felt DT (Dark Trailmon) break the barrier between the Digital World and the real world. I exited out not realizing I had gained a pink stripe in my hair. I looked around realizing this was my home. I left the train station and headed to my house. I was on my way home and I started seeing Digimon faze back and forth between the real world and the Digital Word. I said, "NO! I'm not needed there. I'm not needed anywhere." I started to run not looking where I was going and I bumped into one of my older sisters.

I said, "LILY! I ran up to give her a hug, but she dodged out of the way.

She said, "I don't know you! Get away from me weirdo."

I asked her, "Why don't you recognize me? I'm your younger brother."

She said, "I don't have a brother I only have a twin sister. Later loser."

I said, "What's going on? Why didn't she recognize me?" I started asking people if they recognized me, but no one did. I started to hear voices in my head saying, "Come to us we will save you." I started to see those things from season two episode thirteen.

I said, "The Dark Ones!" I started to run I didn't care where I went I wanted to escape those things. Bad thing is it led me to the beach. I said, "Crap!" The waves started to come closer and they tried to capture me. I was half considering just letting them take me. The Dark Ones had arrived.

I was cornered. I thought I was done for, but some old lady appeared and said some chant and they disappeared.

I thanked her and was surprised to see a female Gennai that was pretty disturbing on its own. She said, "I'm Genenai, come with me and I'll explain everything." I didn't question her and followed.

Sky's POV:

I glared at Kari and Koji although it was mostly Koji.

I everything but shouted at Koji, "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? KAI CAN'T SURVIVE BY HIMSELF!"

Koji said in a serious voice, "It was for the best and Kari agrees with me."

I turned to Kari and she nodded I said, "FINE! I'll go look for him myself anyone else coming?"

Tyson said, "I'm going with you."

Marcus said, "NO YOU'RE NOT!"

Tyson stood up for himself and said, "I already lost my best friend once. I'm not going to let that happen again. Is anyone else coming?" Koichi and Zoe raised their hands.

Koji said, "Fine but the rest of us are going to Ophanimon's Castle." They took off.

Kai's POV:

I followed Genenai and she explained, "Kai you are still needed in the digital world."

I answered, "No I'm not."

She smirked, "Yes you are and you know it. There is another reason why you came back."

I sighed, "Fine, I'm not wanted there; I just hold everyone back. I want to help, but there has to be a reason why I was brought back."

She smiled, "Yes there is. You need to find the incarnate of the Digidestined of Kindness. She is a friend of yours. Your crest will transport you back to the Digital World once you find her. Take this will help you find her." She handed me the Crest of Kindness. I went to look for the digidestined of kindness' incarnate.

I said, "Where are you Julie?"

Julie's POV:

I yawned loudly, struggling to concentrate on the sheet in front of me. Normally I was very good at English, especially when it involved writing stories. But for some reason I was completely zoning out. I felt my eyes slowly begin to close. I noticed Kai outside the window. I thought to myself, Why does he look different?

"Ms. Nakamura, can you tell me what Shakespeare meant when he said this?"

I jumped about a foot in the air, my face paler than usual, my green eyes wide. "GHARP!"

This of course made everyone in the class begin laughing and my cheeks turned redder than Agunimon's armour. "S-sorry Ms. Sanford…"

Ms. Sanford sighed, giving me a somewhat concerned look. "Are you alright, Julie? You're usually very attentive in my classes."

I swallowed quietly and fiddled with my sleeves. "I'm fine, Ms. Sanford…"

She just sighed and continued with the lesson. I turned and looked outside again to find that Kai was no longer there. I nudged the boy beside me lightly. "Hey, William? You didn't see Kai a moment ago, did you?"

He just raised one eyebrow. "Who?"

"Kai Kamiya," I said, giving him an odd look. "You know, brown hair, blue eyes, likes digimon, watches marathons with us, has been friends with us since we were in first grade?"

"Seriously, Julie, are you okay? Did you hit your head or something?" William asked.

"I'm fine! I'm just wondering if you saw Kai!" I groaned.

"Ms. Nakamura!" I jumped again and looked up to see Ms. Sanford glowering at me. "That's twice in five minutes that you have not been paying attention to my lecture. Detention for half an hour after school!"

My eyes widened in horror. If I'm late home again… "Please don't, Ms. Sanford! Anything else, just not a detention today!"

"How dare you?" She growled. "An hour! And if I hear you talking to William once more or if you fail to pay attention, it'll be two!"

I gulped and nodded, trying to hold back the tears at the corners of my eyes. For the rest of the lesson I just stared down at the desk, trying to control the panic in my chest.

Kai's POV:

I looked down at the crest of kindness as I stood outside my old school. It was glowing softly. I could see Julie inside. She seemed to be half asleep until she saw me only to jump as Ms. Sanford asked her something. I moved underneath the window so that I couldn't be seen. The crest glowed brighter the closer that I got to the room.

I said, "Well my theory was right, but how do I get her out of class? I wonder.., it's stupid but it's the only idea I have." I spirit evolved and attacked the walls of the school.

Ms. Sanford said, "Everyone out of the building quick!" Julie snuck out the window I was under.

"Kai?" She asked, staring at me.

I turned back to my human form, "Yeah. Hey how have you been?" I blushed slightly.

Julie's cheeks were slightly pink as well. "I...uh...I've been okay…" She murmured softly, diverting her eyes.

He replied, "What did you say?"

"I, um… I said I've been okay," she replied, a little more loudly. "What about you?"

He sighed, "Challenging."

"So I guess the digital world is real, considering you just turned into Reppamon," Julie said, her eyes shining. "You're DigiDestined then?"

He said, "Yes and No."

"What do you mean?" Julie tilted her head slightly in confusion.

He said, "Well…. I'm an incarnate of one of them."

"Let me guess...Kari?" Kai nodded shyly. Julie smiled. "Kai, the incarnation of light...it suits you."

Kai blushed, "How so?"

"Well… you try to see the good in everyone no matter what they've done," Julie pointed out. "And the crest of light represents the light in everyone, right?"

Kai nodded, "Yeah your really kind. Also that reminds me." Hands her the crest of kindness.

Julie stared at it for a moment. "I...I'm an incarnation too?"

Kai smiled sweetly, "Yeah you're Ken's after he was returned to normal."

"But… how?" Julie looked up, her eyes wide.

Kai said, "You are just like Ken. You're kind no matter what."

Julie blushed softly. "Thanks, Kai."

Kai smiled, "You're welcome." He explains everything.

"That's… amazing," Julie mumbled when everything was done. "But why did you leave? You're needed there."

Kai fights tears, "I'm not wanted there. Besides I had to find you."

"But you are!" Julie replied insistantly. "Kai, they would have died without you!"

He whimpered, "I didn't wanna leave but…. but… Kari and Koji insisted. Besides I'm a monster." Willam found them. "A monster? Yeah right, loser. You'd be scared of a mouse!"

"Leave him alone, William." Julie said, looking up at the taller boy.

"I just want to find out who this brat thinks he is," William growled.

Kai started to back up, "Um… I…. uh"

Seeing Kai's struggle, Julie stepped between him and William. "Just leave it, William."

"Move out of the way, Julie," he ordered.

Kai sighed, "I guess I'm not wanted here either. My sister doesn't know who I am. No one does."

"I do," Julie pointed out.

"And no one else does," William sneered. He moved to get past Julie only for her to step in front of him again. "For the last time, move!"

"No," Julie replied.

Kai said, "Julie take this." Hands her the crests glowed and they disappeared.
