OK, I know, I know, I know, I am a horrible, Horrible person who needs to be locked in a room with season 1-3 Dan I know, please don't kill me. Mostly I had trouble writing this chapter. For some reason I just can't seen to write at home. I have had this done for a couple of days and wanted to go over it and get more of the next chapter which I have started done before updating but that is going to take a little longer than I thought. So I will update now. All mistakes are mine, please let me know any of them and I will try to come back and fix them. once again I have started the next chapter. I have a drive out to Jimboomba tomorrow with my mum, so hoping to get more of that done. It's quite a while away from me, for those of you who know of it. About an hour or so, so I plan to take my laptop to hopfully get the next chapter done. Once again I am so very sorry that this has taken me so long to get to you.
Lucas and Peyton hadn't known what they were walking into when they had arrived home from their trip away, the following week. They were blissfully unaware of what was about to befall upon them. Haley had been setting up what she was going to do, to get them and Lilly in the same room all week. She was sure that they weren't going to like what she had in store but it was for their own good, well more Lilly, because she had gotten the short straw in all of this. Haley also wanted to know why her friends had done this, it wasn't like them at all, they were normally very aware of what they were doing and what was going on around them. So to hear that they had done these things. It had taken her some time after that day to really process the thought of her friends being well so cruel and heartless.
She had set it up so that it was at the cafe, neutral territory, she had thought would be a better place to actually do this than a place that was favoured by one party and not the other. She had enlisted the help of Brooke who was really the only other person who knew exactly why this was happening. Nathan had asked but both women knew that if Nathan found out what was going on, before everything was resolved then things would only get worse before they got better; and that is all they would need. Nathan going after his brother for something that happened years ago that she was sure Lucas had forgotten about.
It was late that Sunday afternoon when, Lilly walked into the nearly empty cafe, she wasn't sure if that was planed or not, because normally Sunday's, were her mothers busiest day. Today however it was unusually quiet. She saw Haley and Brooke sitting at one of the booths closer to the back of the cafe near the kitchen. Walking over to them she slid into the booth and sat down.
"I hope this works. Although I doubt very much if Lucas will remember and if he does that he will own up to actually doing it" she said resting her hand on the table and resting her chin on her hands. She looked between the two women who were sitting in front of her smiling.
"What, what are you up to, and what kind of trick do you have up your sleeves?" she asked, it was then that her father poked his head out of the kitchen door.
"Don't worry kiddo I got your back and your mum doesn't have to know although I am sure she will figure it out, some way or another and I want you to remember what I always told you back then."
"I know it wasn't her fault, the depression made her forget things, things she wouldn't normally forget. I know dad, and I'll tell her that I am not mad or angry at her for it. I never have been not at her anyway," said Lilly Keith nodded and stepped back into the kitchen as they heard the front door open and could hear the confused conversation that was going on between, Lucas and Peyton. It was clear to say that they had no idea what was coming up.
Lucas was shocked that the cafe was this empty, he only had a hand full of memories where it was like this. All of them from when he was in middle school; and even then it had been strange, he wondered what was going on with the town, to have the always popular cafe so sparse. Looking over at Peyton he saw that she was just as confused, shrugging he decided it was just a fluke something that happened once every few years, and it hadn't happened for a while. Making his way over to where he could see Lilly, sitting in a booth talking and laughing to Haley and Brooke, he wondered just what they could have wanted to talk to him about, it couldn't be anything too serious, if he baby sister was here. Walking over to the table greeted his friends and sister.
"Luke, please have a seat" said Haley getting up he noticed that Brooke got up and moved to sit beside Lilly effectively blocking her into the Booth. Frowning he wondered what was going on. He would question his sister in law more if she didn't have that look he had come to know as her teacher face on, looking over at his wife he shrugged and slid into the booth. Haley slid in beside them what ever was going on he was about to find out.
Brooke knew as soon as Lucas found out what was going on he wasn't going to be happy about it; she knew he would try and get up and walk away. That was why they had him sit in the inside of the booth. So he couldn't get up and walk away, sure they would have to put of up with him going off his head for a few minutes claiming, that what his sister said, had never happened and how would she know anyway she was just a kid. But after all that, when he had calmed down, she knew or at least hoped then that they could get to the bottom of what had happened if only for Lilly's sake.
It started out just how they thought it would, when they said why they were, gathered today. Lucas rolled his eyes and sat back waiting to here what lame excuse his sister had come up with to get both Brooke ad Haley on side. He could just get up and push his way out of the booth neither Peyton or Haley would stop him, but part of him wanted to know what Lilly had made up, she had to have made it up, he had been nothing but a good big brother to her. Sure lately he hadn't been the nicest person to his sister, but that had more to do with her behaviour than it did his. When Haley asked Lilly to explain her side of the story, Lucas was surprised his eyes, didn't roll into the back of his head, was she serious about this, giving his sister the first say shouldn't he being the older sibling get the first to speak.
As Lilly continued to speak, with the help of Brooke who she looked at every now and then, Peyton began to realise, what had gone on and why Lilly had always felt off when she had gone over to their place. Looking at Lucas she knew that he wasn't going to listen to this, not coming from Lilly at least, not yet anyway. Oldest sibling syndrome he thought he knew better because he was older, however in this instance he hadn't known better. They had both treated Lilly poorly, and they both had to admit that. Peyton wasn't entirely sure why she had, done and said the things she had said back then. She could barely remember it. But she new she had to make it up to Lilly somehow; what she did back then wasn't something she should have done. They were all dealing with the same things, they all wanted to help Karen. But in doing that they lost sight of someone who was losing out more than they were and that was Lilly.
"I don't believe this, really? Lilly you ruined a perfect good day for mum, back when she needed good days because you thought it was your birthday. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Grow up" Lilly when to say something when Keith came out of the kitchen.
"That is exactly what you sister is trying to Lucas, however it seems to me you only want her to grow up when it's good for you. Haley, I think t's time I took my son and had a chat with him myself." said Keith standing at the edge of the table and folding his arms. Haley nodded and got up, letting Peyton also get up so that Lucas could slide out, once he was free from his corner booth he went to leave however his father grabbed his arm.
"I mean it Lucas Eugene Scott we have some talking to do, so you and I are going to go up to the roof" sighing Lucas followed his father out to the kitchen and up to the roof.
"I so don't want to be in that conversation, right about now" said Brooke both Haley and Peyton who had also had a talk with Keith or Karen up on the roof agreed with her. Lilly hadn't ever been subject to one of those but she had yet to hit her teens, so there was plenty of time for her to experience that yet. as Haley and Peyton sat down again. Peyton sighed.
"Lilly I would like to finally at long last and way over due, apologise for my actions that day. I could blame it on the situation and, the frustration that came with it, but you and I both know that would be a cop out. As as I don't remember that day I know you do and that's the point. I know a simple apology isn't always going to fix things and I know I have a lot to work on to get up to the level of trust you have in both Haley and Brooke but I would like to get there, but that is all up to you." said Peyton the three women looked at the pre-teen who bit her lip, she wasn't sure about this, she didn't want to get hurt again, but she knew now that if Peyton ever did that again, this time even her mother would kick her in the ass.
"I'd like that"
Karen didn't know what was going on when she arrived at the cafe, her husband had told her to take the afternoon off, that it was one of those extremely rare days where the normally busy cafe was dead. Well it had been now it looked as it usually did, not over flowing with customers just steady. What shocked her more, was that Haley, Brooke, Peyton and Lilly seemed to be running the show. Sure their regular cook, was in there, and he looked busy as usual. But her normal wait staff here no where to be seen.
Opening the door she walked in and found that the girls had put on the radio and were dancing around and singing along to the song currently playing.
"So, may I ask who I am paying for this afternoon. where are-
"They all took off, once they could hear Dad and Lucas arguing on the roof. That's why we have the music on, I'm surprised you didn't hear them walking in" said Lilly as she lent over the counter. Karen shook her head she hadn't heard anything coming from the roof, which generally meant, that whatever Keith had taken him up there for had been sorted out, or was currently being sorted out and her hot head of a son had finally stopped to listen.
"Hey Karen, so this daughter of yours has come up with a new milkshake that should totally be put on your regular menu." said Brooke coming over she had been taking an order at one of the back booths as Karen had walked in.
"Oh really? Do tell" Brooke looked over at Lilly who smirked.
"Mint Chocolate, Chocolate Chip Milkshake. All I really did was make a Scott Shake and add Mint Ice cream to it. Oh and Haley just found peppermint flavouring so we're going to try that one next you in? Peyton says it should taste like a candy cane, and someone about making an 21+ version as well" Brooke laughed and nodded, it was odd for Karen to see them all working together, sure she was used to it with Brooke and Peyton or Brooke and Lilly. And over the last few months she had gotten used to Haley and Lilly, but all four of them together that was something new, and something she hadn't expected to see for a few years yet.
"What is going on?" Karen asked When Brooke and Lilly looked at her oddly, she knew she wasn't going to get anywhere with either of them, that led her trying to figure out what happened or asking her daughter's in law. It was worth a shot, Peyton more than Haley, Peyton she recalled couldn't keep a secret to save her life, whereas Haley had spent seven years doing nothing but keeping. She walked away looking oddly at her daughter, and Brooke until she had to look where she was going, she found Both Haley and Peyton in the kitchen talking to her chef. Well, at least one of them stayed she thought.
The first thing she noticed was the look on Haley's face, yeah she wasn't going to get anything out that daughter in law, so Peyton was it. As she turned to confront Peyton her husband and son came walking down the stairs from the roof. The looks on their faces when they saw her, told her that pretty much everyone who was here apart from probably their chef was in on it.
"Okay, enough, I know you are all hiding something, and I know that with my depression that I haven't been as clear headed and here, as much as I should have been but I am now and I want to know what is going on and if one of you doesn't tell me. I swear I'm going to hit every single one of you" Peyton bit her lip and looked at Haley who shook her head, Lucas looked at his father who sighed and walked over to his wife and wrapped an arm around her.
"Leave the music on" he said looking at Haley who nodded as he guided his wife upstairs. The three of them walked out of the kitchen to find Lilly and Brooke looking back while standing at the counter, apparently Karen had been a little louder than they first thought.
"So how do you think she's going to take it?" Lilly asked the three adults around her sighed, Haley and Brooke wrapped their arms around her, knowing that what Karen's reaction was most likely going to be like. The next few hours were going to be interesting, even more so when Nathan found out. It seemed Nathan and Haley we're the only one's with issue's to work through.
