Okay... I know, I know... I haven't posted in a while... Like a long while, but i'm about to graduate so i really needed to focus on all those projects that could possibly give me extra credit. And then I had like vacations... So yeah, I'm sorry but i'm back! And here's chapter 10 :)

Sakura walked towards Naruto, who has holding Ellie in his arms. She arched her brow.

"Why didn't you wake her up?"

He shrugged as he started walking to the truck

"She seems pretty tired..."

"Okay"

"What about the food and stuff?" Sakura asked.

"Oh right! Uh... I think we can manage a few days with our current supplies, i'm tired, you're tired, Ellie is exhausted, I think we should go"
He replied. She simply nodded.

Naruto safely placed Ellie in the backseat of the truck.

"Naruto... Thanks"

"For what?"

"For being honest... For telling me"

He smiled at her and started the engine. He drove for hours trough the dark street, but he didn't mind it, as he felt something light pressed to his shoulder, he looked back at her and then at Ellie, suddenly he started thinking about what Kankuro said, the whole "getting attached is not good" He thought about it for a minute, maybe he was right, yes, he was right, yet all alone... He never wanted to be alone, not ever again.

Morning was closing in, Sakura blinked her eyes softly and slowly, it had been a long time since she slept that well, she looked back watching Ellie move a little bit, opening her eyes. She heard a chuckle.

"Finally you're both up..."

Ellie rubbed her eyes.

"How long have i been asleep?" Ellie said yawning.

"Three days..." He said seriously.

"What?!"

"I'm just fucking with ya..." He chuckled. She raised her eyebrow, he was in a good mood today... Then she noticed Sakura's head on his shoulder, while they both smiled at each other...

"Huh..." She whispered

"What?" Sakura said laughing.

"You both look... Happy today... Perhaps too happy..." She said doubtfully.

"I don't know what you're talking about..." They both said in unison and then blushed.

"Oh... Come on! First you hate each other" she rolled her eyes " And now you're giggling, and making lovey-dovey eyes at each other... I'm not stupid..."

"We just... Decided to forgive each other..." Naruto said nervously.

"I know that... But why where you fighting? Why did you stopped fighting? That's what i want to know..."

"Boy... You are a really curious little thing aren't you?" Sakura asked.

"I am a teenager" She said proudly.

"Fair point ... So Sakura and I knew each other because we were best friends as kids "

"Really?" Ellie said

"Yeah" Sakura replied " We did everything together..." She smiled at the memory of them playing around their favorite park, near a Sakura tree.

"Okay... Why did you fight?"

Naruto and Sakura looked at each other, then Sakura gave him a slight smirk.

"Because he was jealous... You know Sasuke? The guy we fight about, his brother?"

"Yeah..."

"Well... I had a crush on him and apparently Naruto had a crush on me" Ellie looked at him amused as he blushed brightly.

"Whatever" He muttered.

"Tell me more..." Sakura smiled as she continued her story.

"Okay... So Sasuke was the most popular guy in school, he was a great fighter, very handsome, and smooth with the girls..."

Naruto frowned... He didn't liked this.

"But he was a jerk..." She continued losing her smile "He was disrespectful, condescending, and arrogant"

"Sounds like he was a real asshole..."

"Yes he was..." A smile found its way into her face " Then there was Naruto, he was silly, nerve-wracking, a clown and not very smooth, in fact he was clumsy as hell..." Naruto pouted in a 'manly' way at Sakura, she giggled "But... He was bright, cheery, and everybody liked him... He was the best friend you could ask for..." Naruto smiled shyly.

"I guess i don't have to ask about the reconciliation" Ellie smiled. This was nice, no more stupid arguments.

The morning soon was replaced by a cloudy setting, they could see the fallen gray buildings of a city.

Naruto frowned as he saw tons of cars blocking the way.

"What are we gonna do?" Sakura asked.

"I guess... Go through it"

He slowly made his way through the town, he saw what appeared to be a huge bridge, but his view was interrupted by a man, covered in blood, that cried for help.

"Please! I'm wounded!" Naruto frowned.

"We have to help him!" Ellie said.

"Put on your seat belts" He said seriously.

"But-" Sakura said.

"Just trust me" They did as they where told. "Be prepared..."

"But what about the guy?" Ellie asked.

"He's not even hurt" He sped up the truck and almost ran over the guy.

The person, who had feigned his injuries, pulled out a gun and more men came out of hiding. One of them threw a brick at the truck, damaging the windshield. They were Hunters, people that chose to steal and kill other people to survive.

"Watch out!"

The Hunters pushed a bus into Their truck, causing them to crash into a hardware store.

"Is everyone okay?" He said breathlessly.

"Yes" both girls said in unison.

"Then let's get out" He said determinately.

As he took his seat belt of he saw from the corner of his eyes how they grabbed Ellie, he quickly shifted her way, and tried pulling her back, but they where stronger. Ellie was taken by the hunter, followed by Sakura who had been grabbed in her attempt to save Ellie, Naruto quickly got out the truck, running towards them only to be stopped by a strong man who pushed him through a broken window, trying to pierce his neck with a sharp piece of glass.

"Not today!" He pronounced angrily, kicking him and turning him to crash him onto the glass.

He turned terrified as gazed at Ellie and Sakura been grabbed forcefully by two men, Sakura was trying to hit him with her shoulder, while Ellie took a strong bite on her hunter's arm, he yelled in pain and struck Ellie in the face. Naruto frowned, angrily running towards him, he kicked him harshly on the face and shoved him to a table, smearing his blood all over it. Sakura's hunter had already let go of her, but Naruto shoved his fist hard on his face, knocking him out.

"Motherfuckers!" Ellie said.

"Indeed. Let's get out!" Naruto replied.

Naruto searched for an ending, he examined a steel gate and thought about raising it.

"Naruto, you can lift that up!" Sakura said

"Yeah... I was just thinking the same thing"

"Well stop thinking and lets go!" She ran towards the metallic gate, followed by Ellie. Damn, he had forgotten just how bossy she was, but in a cute way... Wait?... What? Naruto shook his thoughts off and stared at both girls who looked upset.

"Well?" The pinkette said tapping her foot.

"Oh, yeah, help me up!"

Both girls kneeled and helped him lift the gate. It was too heavy to lift it completely though.

"Uh... Ellie go in and find something to hold it" He groaned.

"Okay!" She rapidly went in. They heard her gasp.

"Are you okay?" Sakura said worriedly.

"There's some pretty disgusting stuff here" Her voice shaking.

"Just... Shrug it off and hurry up"

Naruto looked at Sakura, who looked tired. He softly talked to her.

"Hey... You okay... If you want i can hold it on my own"

"No! I can do it!" It sounded aggressive, but for some reason Naruto knew it wasn't mean for him, it was meant for herself.

Ellie pulled a small cart that perfectly held the gate, as they got in, Naruto understood what Ellie meant, it was a room full of corpses.

"See... This could've been us". He said.

"Well we made it"

"Barely, lets go"

Little did they knew, a large amount of men had them surrounded. Naruto didn't seem to see this as a problem.

After eliminating the ambush group, the trio passed through their hideout and made their way to a long-abandoned military checkpoint. Along the way Naruto explains them that the military had been overthrown by the citizens who were now the Hunters.

"What?" Ellie whispered feeling speechless.

"When people are desperate, they'll do anything" He sighed slightly. Slowly they hid on the abandoned checkpoint, Naruto abruptly turned to Ellie.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"What do you mean?"

"Your cheek, that asshole smacked it really hard" He said getting a little angry.

"Don't worry" Sakura interrupted "I am a medic, remember?" She took Naruto's bag and searched for the 'aid kit' it was made of a little bottle of peroxide and other strange named chemicals and some 'bandages' that looked like they where ripped of from old clothes, so she took her aid kit, a much more professional choice, it was just a slap, maybe a muscular relaxer would work, there were no things like that in todays world, luckily, one of her old friend once taught her, the wonders of medicine in nature, she used to have a flower shop, so they went out all the time and she taught her about medicinal herbs, pretty much every medicine she owned was made out of them. She efficiently rubbed some cream on her, Naruto tried to read the label, but the name was way too complicated.

Ellie smiled. "Thanks a lot Sakura"

"It was nothing" She smiled back.

"Okay let's get going now" Naruto interrupted.

At the checkpoint the trio then came across another group of hunters and stealthily made their way through what looked like a bookstore and into a back alley.

As they saw more hunters coming up, Ellie started to freak out.

"We are so screwed"
