Chapter 3: The Past
Sabine and Riley were in Sabine's room. Riley was setting his armour down, looking for any possible injuries.
"Where were you for the past 5 years?" Sabine questioned.
"I was making sure that other children didn't lose their parents" he looked at Sabine. "I never forgave myself after that day and I still don't"
"But why were you in that cell?" Sabine had a worried face.
"You mean why was I with Fulcrum's contact" Riley jumped on his bunk. "I was on Dantooine trying to help a kid when Fulcrum helped with the rescue. I was surrounded then out of nowhere, barrages of lasers took out all the tie's and some storm trooper's. He knew I could help against the empire, he offered and I accepted."
He picked up his helmet and took out the chip. He gave it to Sabine who looked confused.
"He gave me a contract to protect an asset on Mandalore. When I arrived, I went home and gathered as much as I could. That chip is valuable to me, now it is to you" Riley smiled and went to sleep.
Sabine was still confused by the chip, is was about the size of her palm and looked as if it had been used quite often. She let her brother sleep thinking he wouldn't have gotten any in the cell, and walked to the common room.
"How is he?" Hera was sat with the rest of the crew who looked worried.
"Fine, he's just sleeping and you should let him" Sabine said scowling.
"We just need to know what he's been doing and why he's been doing it" Hera still trying to convince Sabine.
"Why don't you ask Fulcrum" She snapped still angry about how they acted in the med bay.
"What does Fulcrum have to do with this?" Kanan now stepping in.
"It was his mission, so he may know some things" Ezra was now trying to defend Sabine. She smiled knowing that he cared and knew what it was like to lose family.
"Good point, I'll get in contact with him" Hera now happy with how to get information.
Hera walked off with Kanan, Zeb went to get some sleep and Ezra stayed with Sabine.
"I'll never know what it's like to have family back" Ezra stared at the doorway that led to the quarters.
"I'll never forgive him, but it was sad seeing him run off" Sabine looked at the chip in her hand.
"What do you mean run off?" Ezra looked at Sabine sternly.
"He'll have to tell you" Sabine inserted the chip into the Holodesk and was surprised at what she saw.
It was pictures from their childhood, from shortly after birth to the day they were taken. Sabine started to cry at the pictures of their parents. She had last saw them when they split paths.
Sabine and Ezra looked through the pictures and videos in silence until they reached a picture that Sabine hadn't seen since the day she fled the academy, it was a picture of her and Riley outside their house. Sabine took the chip and walked towards her room with tears trickling down her face.
"Sabine?" Ezra grasped her arm.
"I'm sorry, it's just I never thought I'd see these again" She ran off and cried for an hour before sleeping of exhaustion.
The next morning Riley was the first up, he let everyone else sleep. He had picked up the chip he gave Sabine the night before, scanning them for a while. He must have looked through it about 4 times before noticing Kanan standing at the door.
"Are you ready?" Kanan sat down at the Holodesk with Riley.
"Only when everyone is up" putting emphasis on everyone.
