Chapter 6: First Mission
Riley was the first up again, he wasn't sure if he was ready for this mission. He didn't know how the crew worked, which meant that he didn't know how to work. For years he had worked on his own, but this was a change. Kanan walked in with a bag, a big bag.
"Since you're helping us on this mission, you might need some weapons." Kanan started opening the bag. "So here are your weapons and pistol just in case"
"Thanks, I thought I lost this" Riley picked up the large weapon which looked like an LMG. "This was a project that me and my dad started. I alone finished it 2 months ago and it really helps in tough situations"
"Let's hope it does" Kanan snickered. "Knowing the missions we get, it could be useful"
Kanan and Riley talked for a while and they really seemed to get along. Turns out that Riley is highly qualified in first aid and anything beyond.
"So, can he stay?" Sabine was stood in the door way ready for the mission, it must be a big one because everyone was ready and it started in 2 hours.
"Not yet, he must past the test" Kanan knew he treaded into bad grounds.
"Ezra didn't get a test, I didn't get a test and I went to an academy. Why don't you trust him Kanan?" Sabine looked pretty angry.
"Because you all showed your worth beforehand" Kanan stated.
"So Riley's not 'worthy' to join us" Sabine threw her hands into the air. "Got to remember that one next time"
"I didn't mean it like that" Kanan was about to get up.
"No but you said it like that" Sabine was about to go on another rant, but Riley stepped in.
"Don't worry sis, if we get through this then there's nothing to worry about" Riley got up and grabbed to gear from the bag.
The gear consisted of a Tac-Pad, an LMG, a DC-17 hand blaster and some medical supplies that the crew had to carry everywhere, at all times.
Riley dished out the gear and equipped it, they all headed to the cargo bay where Ezra and Zeb were. Hera was in the cockpit finding a place to land.
"We're almost there, ready up it's going to be a drop off." Hera spoke through the speakers.
"I thought we were two hours away" Riley was confused.
"We need to attack earlier now, the Empire are right behind us" Kanan opened the cargo doors.
"What is the mission?" Riley now having to shout.
"Intelligence run" Kanan said.
Kanan jumped out to start clearing out the landing platform. The ghost hovered about 10 feet of the ground and everyone jumped out. Sabine and Zeb went to the left while Ezra and Riley went to the right. Riley sent out heavy fire for Kanan, while Ezra, Zeb and Sabine took out the rest.
When the landing platform was clear, Riley stayed with Sabine to keep it clear. Ezra made his way to the communications room through the vents. When opened Kanan would grab the data while Zeb kept the hallway clear.
Kanan heard movement inside but something didn't feel right, he couldn't find Ezra through the force. Kanan opened the door and jumped into the room only to find the Inquisitor holding Ezra up against the wall. Kanan jumped at the Inquisitor combat ready. The inquisitor dodged the attack by Kanan and tried to slice the Jedi in the side but missed drastically when Ezra kicked the Inquisitor in the stomach. The Inquisitor dropped Ezra to fight Kanan.
"Zeb grab Ezra and run back to the ship!" Kanan trying to fight of the constant attacks.
"I'm not leaving you" Zeb shouted.
"You're not, I'll be right behind you" Kanan blocked the Inquisitor from getting to Ezra while Zeb grabbed him.
Back at the landing platform
"They should be back by now" the orange mandalorian was about to run in after them.
"Don't worry, they'll be here" Sabine was planting charges by the door to cover their escape.
"Still, I don't like it" Riley patrolled the platform.
Riley heard shouting, shooting and what sounded like the clashing of lightsabers.
"Sabine, take cover they're here" Riley and the artist ran to the crates and took aim.
Zeb ran through the door with Ezra in his arms and immediately Kanan ran through followed by tons of storm troopers.
"Ezra!" Sabine was worried.
"Sabine blow the charges" Kanan was fighting of stormtroopers.
"We're too close" Sabine almost got hit in the leg.
They fought off stormtroopers on end while waiting for Hera. Riley looked over Ezra and passed his gun to Sabine so she could cover him, Zeb was trying to retrieve Kanan from the door.
"Looks bad, he's been thrown into a wall repeatedly by the looks of it. The best I can do is help him breath, we need him back on the Ghost" Riley still looking Ezra over.
"Hera get her now Ezra is badly injured" Sabine called through the comms.
"I need to lose these ties first" Hera sounded like she was struggling.
"Inquisitors returned" Zeb was ready go berserk for hurting his roommate.
Kanan was fighting the Inquisitor of while everyone else finished the rest of the troopers. Zeb was barely hit across the face but just shot right back. Sabine kept Ezra at a slightly slanted position while Riley tried to help Zeb. Kanan was struggling and eventually knocked down
"Pity, not much of a fight this time" the Inquisitor smirked.
"Maybe I'm getting bored" Kanan tried to get up but was pushed back down.
"I'll make this quick" the Inquisitor was about to strike but was thrown to the side when Riley tackled him.
They both stood up ready to fight.
"You have spirit and a death wish" the Inquisitor was serious, no non- Jedi attacked head on like this.
"I'm just looking to enjoy the day" dropping his weapon.
Riley ran straight at the Inquisitor, dodged an attack and jabbed him in the throat. He then punched the inquisitor straight in the face then kicked him in the stomach. Riley passed the crimson red lightsaber to Kanan and knock out the inquisitor.
"How did you do that?" Kanan said as everyone just stared at him.
"Punch to the throat, always works" Riley checked on Ezra just as the ghost arrived.
"Got another platoon incoming" Zeb jumped in the Ghost then fired out.
"Sabine blow the charges or we won't get out" Riley helped Sabine in.
Sabine blew the charges which shook the ship and she fell out.
"Sabine!" Riley was about to jump after her but Kanan stopped him
"She'll be fine" Kanan tried to calm down Riley.
"She'll be captured!" Riley pushed away Kanan but then Zeb grabbed him.
"We'll get her" Kanan said calmingly.
"But my promise" Riley watched Sabine get dragged into a shuttle with the Inquisitor while the platform was falling.
"And you'll keep it, they won't kill her" Zeb put down Riley.
"I'll come get you Sabine" Riley took off his helmet to show tears. "I promise"
