Chapter 13: Thank You
Riley walked slowly down the hill towards the Ghost and her crew. Everyone was dressed up and there were banners, but why? Riley was about to speak before he was suddenly tackled out of no-where.
"I hope that's you Anne" Riley turned quickly to make sure.
"Nope, I'm a storm trooper ready to take you away" Anne said sarcastically.
"And what am I meant to do about it?" Riley jumped up and picked up Anne in a bridal way.
"Put me down you filthy rebel!" Anne laughed and took off Riley's helmet. "I like this face better"
Riley put down Anne, he walked towards the crew who ran and hugged him.
"Whoa, why the worry?" Riley hugged back, but was confused by why Sabine was crying.
"Where were you?" Sabine looked up to Riley.
"I ran to Capital City, it was the closest place" Riley said softly.
"Don't scare me again!" Sabine let go and turned around. "Do you like it?"
Riley looked around, the banners said 'Thank You Riley' as if he had done something heroic. Riley looked at everyone else to realise that they had thrown a surprise for him.
"No, I love it" Riley hugged everyone. "But why? What have I done?"
"You helped us all" Hera was confused by why Riley didn't think he deserved it.
"But that's expected" Riley protested.
"No, it's the way you helped and why you helped" Ezra said quite sternly. "When I was on the street, I saw that people needed help but no one would. You helped us all"
"How?"
"When we first met you, you were to say a threat. But then you helped us all you could" Kanan said. Every one stepped back and sat down at the tables.
Hera carried on.
"When we first met, you let us all into your life, you told us everything. You helped me by understanding my crew better"
"On our first mission, I was injured badly and you did everything you could" Ezra smiled brightly.
"When I was captured you were the first person who wanted to do something, and yesterday you set up a party for me" Sabine help the card from her parents in her hands.
"When I was shot across the face, you helped me the best you could, not much to do but you still helped" Zeb pointing to the scar on his face.
"When I was fighting the Inquisitor and was knocked down, you tackled him away from me. You tackled a man with a lightsaber to protect me" Kanan leaned forward trying to get his point across.
"When we were on Mandalor, you helped us escape with your life" Jack said with a hint of annoyance towards Riley's ignorance.
"When I was shot, you did everything you could to save me, even when I died you still didn't give up and that's why I love you" Anne almost cried thinking about what Riley has actually done.
"Wait, you're dating Anne?" Zeb looked over to Jack. "Did you know about this?"
"No, why didn't you tell me Anne?" Jack glared at Anne.
"It was only last night we decided to date" Anne patted the seat next to her, indicating Riley to sit.
Riley walked over and sat down, he looked at everyone and sighed heavily.
"Thank you guys, this is special" He kissed Anne on the cheek.
"You deserve it" Kanan held up a glass of Alcohol.
"Nice try love, you're not drinking tonight" Hera removed the cup from Kanan who had an annoyed look.
"Come on Her, just one night. It's for Riley" Zeb protested.
"Fine, but if you get a hangover then Choppers going to have some fun" Hera gave the cup back to Kanan.
The crew just Drank, ate and laughed all night. Riley looked off but tried to forget about it since Anne was trying to help.
"So, you never had a girlfriend before?" Zeb asked Riley.
"No, I never really cared"
"So, you don't care about me?" Anne teased.
"Of course I do" Riley hugged Anne.
"But what happened after you left Sabine" Kanan was a bit drunk. "Surely you did something then"
"No, I was captured by Agent Kallas" Riley was a bit bothered but decided they needed to know.
"After that?" Ezra asked curiously.
"I travelled from here to there, I was being flirted with a few times but never really wanted anything to do with them" Riley took a drink and regretted it, he had no idea what it was but Zeb pulled it from somewhere.
"So what's different about Anne?" Jack smirked a bit which made Anne blush.
"She took care of Sabine and helped her in the academy, I helped her then she wanted to help me" Riley looked at Anne. "She didn't try hard or bothered me about it, she asked rarely and knew it was a delicate topic. She was special."
"Aw, thanks" Anne laid against Riley.
"Ok, but what about your gun? I've never seen it anywhere else" Kanan asked.
"It was a project that me and my father did together. We took an old Z-6 rotary blaster cannon and took a few parts from that"
"Nicely done" Zeb complimented.
"Thanks, I finished it the first time I went back to Mandalor" Riley yawned loudly.
"Someone's tired" Sabine laughed when Riley just stared back.
"It is late, come on guys" Hera got up and dragged Kanan to their room.
Everyone helped put everything away then headed to bed, Riley was the last one up and stopped dead when he saw the painting of him and his parents.
"I'm sorry, but I'm trying to make it right" Riley sat down against the wall and stared at the painting.
"Riley?" Sabine turned back around the corner when Riley didn't enter their room.
"I'm trying to make it right Sabine" Sabine sat down and hugged her brother.
"I know, and you have" Sabine stood up. "I'll leave you to think, but don't stay there until morning"
"I won't, I promise" Sabine left Riley on the floor and he was just thinking.
Riley must have been thinking for hours because Anne walked out, half asleep.
"Riley?" Anne could barely walk.
"Yeah, I was just thinking" Riley stood up. "I'm going to sleep now"
Riley was about to walk into his room when Anne grabbed his arm. She led him into the common room.
"I don't think this is working" Anne sat down and made Riley do the same.
"So, we're done?"
"No! I mean I need you to talk to me, I still love you with everything but you need to talk to me" Anne held Riley's hand in hers. "Please, for me"
"Ok, it's just this isn't a good week. Too many memories to remember" Riley looked into Anne's eyes. "I know that you want to help me every way you can but I'm not leaving you in the dark, I'm trusting you with all this information"
"I know how to help you, but I'll need sometime" Anne cuddled up to Riley. "If we stay here tonight then let's ask for room re-arrangements tomorrow"
"Ok, I glad I have you" Riley put his arms around Anne.
"I'm glad I have you too" then the two Mandalorians fell asleep.
The next morning everyone woke up to Chopper, he somehow had a siren and everyone's heads felt like they were being thrown into brick walls. Eventually everyone met in the common rooms, Zeb was chasing Chopper with Ezra but were getting nowhere, and everyone else just drank cups of water.
"What was that stuff last night" Hera moaned.
"I don't know but now I remember why I quit drinking" Kanan's was quite unstable.
"Damn, that's one annoying droid you have" Riley trying not to help the two pursuers of Chopper.
"So this is a hangover" Anne leaned against Riley trying to sleep but couldn't.
"This is really painful" Jack sat on the floor since he would just fall off the stools.
"Let me go get something" Anne let Riley up and he left the room. Riley came back 5 minutes later.
"Try these" Riley gave two black tablets to everyone.
"What are they?" Hera looked over the tablets.
"Strong painkillers, they can cure hangovers easily" Riley struggled to sit down but eventually made it. "Got them on Tatooine, give them 5 minutes after drinking with water"
Everyone took the tablets and just sat in silence. After 5 minutes like Riley said, everyone felt better.
"So Hera, I want to ask you something" Anne leaned over the table. "Can we get new room arrangements?"
"I don't know, it's up to everyone else" Hera pulled out her communicator. "Zeb, Ezra get back here"
"Sure on our way" after a while the two entered the room.
"Ok, so since we're all here, let's talk about some the room arrangements"
"Wait, I can get rid of Ezra" Zeb looked happy.
"If someone else wants to stay with him" Hera explained to everyone what would happen and everyone agreed.
After about 2 hours of talking, the new arrangements we set. Hera and Kanan would stay together, Riley and Anne would stay together, Ezra and Sabine would stay together while Zeb and Jack stayed together.
"Ok, so go get all of your stuff sorted out" Hera and Kanan talked.
With Sabine and Ezra
"So, Ezra I agreed with you for a reason" Sabine helped Ezra carry his belongings. "I think I'm ready to have a relationship with you"
Ezra stopped dead, he didn't expect this.
"Really?" Ezra ran to the bunks, dropped the things he was holding and hugged Sabine. "When?"
"When Riley and Anne started to confess to each other" Sabine hugged Ezra back. "But that doesn't mean you try anything, got it"
"Yes" Ezra stood back and Sabine laughed.
Zeb and Jack
"Sounds like those two have sorted things out" Zeb pointed behind him with his thumb to show he meant Ezra and Sabine.
"Yep, I hope you don't mind me sleeping a lot" Jack carried in the last of his stuff.
"My friend, we are going to get along just fine" Zeb put his arm on Jack's shoulder. "Just don't wake me or you die"
"Got it" Jack broke free from Zeb and jumped on his bunk. "I could sleep for days after the interruption from that rust bucket"
"Indeed we can" Zeb climbed into his bunk and the two fell asleep.
With Riley and Anne
"Yes, more alone time" Anne looked at Riley who just looked scared by what Anne said.
"Um…that wasn't convincing to be a good thing" Riley dropped his things by the door.
"What's that meant to mean?" Anne scowled at him.
"You just sound obsessed with it" Riley walked over and help Anne against him.
"Sorry, I'm just excited. We talk a lot so at last we can talk alone and you seem to be one that barely escapes death"
"Thanks I try hard" Riley let go of Anne and checked over his things.
"I know, but it scares me how dangerous it can be" Anne sat on the bunk.
"What did Kanan mean by you tackled a man with a lightsaber?" Anne looked worried.
"Well, Kanan was about to get stabbed so I took necessary action and fought the Inquisitor alone" Riley flinched when Anne shouted at him.
"You're telling me that you could have been stabbed, slashed or cut in half and you just did it anyway!" Anne pulled Riley to the bad and they both sat. "That's why I want to spend time with you and why I love you, you always take necessary action"
The two sat in silence and enjoyed each other's company.
