Chapter 15: Not A Good Day
The house was quiet, peaceful and without trouble until Riley started stirring. He was having another nightmare, but a stronger one. Anne was woken when Riley was stirring violently, she tried to calm him but it didn't work. Eventually, he let out screams of pain while clutching his chest and fell on the floor. Everyone ran in to investigate the noise.
"What's wrong?" Martin ran to Riley's side.
"He's having another nightmare of his past, a flashback you might say but it's never been this bad" Anne hugged Riley calming him a little, but he didn't stop.
"How do we stop it?" Beatrice looked worried.
"I don't know" Anne was now crying a little. "I'm here Riley, you're not alone anymore"
"Jack, go grab the first aid bag" Martin ordered.
"On it" Jack ran out the room.
Anne was hugging Riley tightly trying to get results but he just kept on screaming. Jack shortly returned with a small bag. Martin took out a needle and injected the clear liquid.
"What was that?" Anne sat with Riley properly as he stopped screaming.
"Calm down, we only knocked him out" Martin stood up. "We need to talk to him in the morning, but until then everyone goes to sleep"
Martin helped Anne put Riley back into bed.
"Thanks dad" Anne climbed in next to Riley and held him tightly. "I think I know why it's this bad"
"Just go to sleep" Everyone left the room and Anne fell asleep.
The next morning, everyone was waiting in the living room for Anne and Riley. Riley stumbled through the door with Anne holding his side to support him.
"Riley, are you ok?" Martin asked curiously.
"I've got a headache but I'll be fine, why?" Riley sat in a chair with difficulty.
"We heard you screaming" Beatrice said worried.
"What was that about?" Martin asked. "If you don't mind me asking"
"It was about 6 years ago today" Anne sat next to Riley. "I was tortured by Agent Kallas, I now remember bad memories in my sleep. If I grabbed my chest last night, then it was the one of me being tortured. I always feel the pain"
"I'm sorry" Martin stood up and opened the door to check outside. "When do you plan on leaving? The first patrol is in 10 minutes and they'll check the houses"
"We should probably leave now, who knows what kind of attention I attracted last night" Riley stood up slowly.
"Not with that kind of headache" Anne protested.
"We'll be fine" Riley walked into Anne's room.
"Are you sure you'll be ok?" Anne asked caringly.
"I'll be fine, I promise" Riley was putting on his armour. "If there's anything you want to take with you then now is a good time"
"Ok" Anne grabbed a suitcase and packed some things into it. "Why didn't you calm down last night when I spoke?"
"The memory was stronger" Riley grabbed his pistol and put it in his holster. "I should be fine for a while"
Anne and Riley said goodbye to Martin, Beatrice and Jack. When they were about to leave there was a knock on the door.
"Imperial inspection, open up" Called an officer.
"I need everyone on the floor" Riley said pointing his gun at Martin. "Maybe if I can trick them into thinking you're hostages, they let you go"
"Just don't do anything stupid" Anne said as she got on the floor with everyone else.
"You have 5 seconds to open up" the officer called again.
"When I leave head straight for the Ghost, I'll meet you there" the door flew open and Riley opened fire. "Stay back, I've hostages"
They heard storm troopers coming up with a plan.
"You 4 go around back while me and 365 stay here" one of them said.
"Roger" the other replied.
"Stay back!" Riley shouted again.
"We're coming in" the two troopers walked through the door only to get shot.
"I'll meet you back on the ship" Riley whispered and then ran off.
The other 4 troopers walked in the back only to find the first 2 troopers dead.
"Don't let him escape!" the troopers ran off leaving the family alone.
"He's smart" Martin complimented as he got up.
"And reckless" Anne said as she grabbed her bag. "I'll try to visit soon"
"Take care of Riley, he still needs to sort out that nightmare problem" Beatrice said as she kissed Anne on the forehead. "Stay safe"
Anne ran off towards the Ghost, she could hear shouting and shooting. She ran through an ally and almost ran into some storm troopers responding to the threat. When they past she had make it to the edge of the town, she was walking hoping that Riley would catch up. After 10 minutes, he did.
"Anne!" Riley limped over to her.
"What happened?!" Anne was shocked, Riley was covered in scorch marks.
"Ties, they really know how to give you a bad day" Riley was helped by Anne to the Ghost. "I lost them but we need to leave the planet, will your Family be alright?"
"Better than you!" Anne snapped. "You promised you'd be fine"
"I'm sorry, but it was more difficult when they kicked down the door" Riley and Anne reached the ramp. "And besides, I said I would try, remember"
"Let's get you to the med bay" Anne put down her suit case and helped Riley up the ladder.
"What happened?!" Sabine shouted, everyone was sat in the cockpit.
"You look like a wreck!" Hera shouted.
The boys and Chopper just stayed quite, they didn't want to get caught in an argument.
"Getting out of the city was harder than getting in" Riley joked.
"To the med bay, now!" Anne screamed. "I'll take care of him"
Anne and Riley were in the med bay, Anne was looking for some things to use while riley was removing his armour.
"You have to be more careful" Anne said as she walked over to Riley with supplies. "Take off your shirt"
"Is this because I asked you to remove yours" Riley joked.
"Partly" Anne smirked.
Riley removed his shirt to reveal scars, not many but big ones. Anne stared at one that she hadn't noticed before, it was in the shape of a star on his shoulder.
"Enjoying yourself" Riley chuckled as Anne blushed.
"You're covered in scars" Anne said as she treated a light mark on his waist.
"I know" Riley flinched when Anne applied some alcohol to sterilize the wound.
"Sorry" Anne tried again but more carefully. "Thanks for saving my family"
"No problem, I wasn't going to get you all caught" Riley tried to take the cloth from Anne.
"No, my turn" Anne said as she moved the cloth away. "Where did they all come from?"
"When I was good at getting caught by the imperials" Riley watched Anne walk around his body. "Anne, that armour is tougher than it looks. I should only have a few bruises"
"I know, but would you do the same if it were me?" Anne was now in front of Riley. "I know you're strong, but you can still get shot"
"You care too much" Riley said as he as putting his shirt back on.
"No, you just didn't have anyone to care for you" Anne kissed Riley. "But you do now"
"Hey, we need you's two in the common room" Zeb said as he walked through. "Mission from Fulcrum"
"We'll be right in" Anne held Riley's hand and pulled him into the common room.
"Nice of you to join us" Kanan looked angry. "The mission is to steal some food, the only problem is that Riley alerted the whole Empire on his reconnaissance"
"We can still do it" Riley protested. "What's the supplies?"
"Gems, artificial Kyber crystals to be exact" Kanan saw the look on the crews face.
"How many crates?" Ezra asked.
"Three crates"
"When is it?" Zeb asked.
"We're heading there now" Kanan looked at Riley. "You need some rest because they'll be a lot of resistance"
"This mission better be worth it" Sabine complained, with that they all left.
Everyone went to their rooms, Anne looked annoyed.
"So you'll be out there soaking up bullets while I'm in here helping Hera" Anne threw herself on the bed.
"You'll be helping with extraction" Riley lied down next to his girlfriend. "I'll even buy you a weapon next time we're at the market"
"Really?" Anne turned over and looked at him. "I love you Riley"
"I love you too Anne, thanks for being here" Riley hugged her and they fell asleep.
2 hours later, everyone was woken up by Hera over the inter com. They all got ready and met in the Cargo hold.
"Ok, Riley your first out, Sabine your last. We want to try and make as much damage as possible" Kanan looked at Anne. "Are you ready?"
"Yes, I won't let you down" Anne walked over to Riley and kissed him. "Come back safe"
"I'll try" Riley joked and walked to the front of the cargo bay.
The doors opened and everyone spilled out, Riley ran to some crates at the front of the courtyard. Sabine threw a few Miracles at the storm troopers creating an opening to some heavily guarded crates.
"Go!" Kanan ordered and everyone moved up. "Spector 4 and Spector 7, hold off the bucket heads"
Riley and Zeb moved some empty crates to create some cover. The two were fighting off the troopers while the other three were getting the crates. Then another dropship came, and a man in a black suit walked out.
"Spector 1, we have uninvited guests" Zeb shouted over the gun fire. "It's the Inquisitor"
Kanan walked out of the warehouse and looked at the dark Jedi.
"Spector 4, grab a crate while I hold him off" Kanan ignited him lightsaber and charged the Inquisitor.
The two clashed creating sparks, Riley kept the battle in the corner of his eye to make sure Kanan was safe.
"We've got the crates" Sabine shouted. "Calling Ghost now"
Sabine picked her communicator off her belt and spoke into it, Riley was still trying to hold off storm troopers when some warehouses started exploding.
"We need to get out of here soon!" Riley shouted angrily.
Riley saw a figure in the corner of his eye, a girl. He was making sure he was seeing right when she was shot in the leg. Riley ran over to her and carried her back to the crates as quick as he could.
"Are you ok?" Riley asked the girl.
"Yeah I'm fine, but my leg" The girl had white hair and green eyes.
"How old are you?" Riley asked her.
"17, why?" as she asked riley pulled out a needle. "No, not again!"
"Calm down, this will numb your leg and stop any pain around it" the girl reluctantly agreed to the needle.
Riley took out a small bottle of blue liquid and put some in the needle. He then injected the girl and checked on Kanan. The Jedi was thrown into a wall.
"Spector 6, lightsaber!" Ezra peaked round the corner.
"Why?" Ezra threw his lightsaber to Riley.
"I need to help Kanan but I can't do it with my fists this time" Riley looked at the girl. "Stay here and you'll be fine"
Riley got up as the Ghost arrived to help clear the courtyard. Riley ran over to Kanan igniting the lightsaber and blocked an attack aimed for Kanan.
"So, another Jedi" the Inquisitor laughed.
"I'm no Jedi, just stupid" Riley joked as he passed Kanan his lightsaber.
"Spector 6, get here now!" Riley called over Ezra and when he was close enough, he passed Ezra his lightsaber back.
"Spector 7, you can load up the cargo now" Hera said over the comms.
"Roger that Ghost, moving crates" Riley ran back to the girl and picked her up. "Let's get out of here"
Riley put the girl on Zeb's back while he pushed a crate. They got the crates to the Ghost and loaded them up.
"Anne, take this while I get Ezra and Kanan" Riley gave her the large weapon and went to get the two males attacking the Inquisitor. "Come on, we're leaving"
A large explosion went off next to the four of them, knocking out the Inquisitor and Ezra while knocking down Riley and Kanan. Kanan picked up his Padawan and the three ran back to the ship but Riley was shot in the helmet.
"Riley!" was the last thing he heard before blacking out.
