Chapter 19: Revenge
Riley was woken by a click, a loud click. He shot up pointing a pistol at a purple creature, it jumped back in surprise.
"Watch it kid! Could have blown of an ear!" the lasat snarled.
"When did you get here?" Riley asked putting away the weapon.
"About 20 minutes ago" Sabine smirked as she looked towards Anne.
"You ready to go?" Kanan asked picking up some small crates.
"Yeah, I'll get Anne" Riley picked up Anne in a bridal style and carried her down the tower.
"Good plan Riley" Ezra complimented trying to carry several crates.
"It wasn't my idea" Riley looked down at Anne, she was hugging his helmet.
"She's a smart women" Ezra almost fell over when Sabine punched him.
"You never say that about me!" Sabine scowled.
"You're smart too, just with explosives and paint" Ezra said hoping he didn't mess things up.
"Nice save kid" Sabine pecked him on the cheek.
Riley laughed as his sister blushed, neither of them were wearing helmets making it easy to see. Everyone went up the ladder after setting down the crates, Riley stayed in the Cargo bay with Anne. Riley grabbed some blankets and pillows, he moved some crates to give them room. He put one blanket on the floor to make it softer, he moved Anne over to the blanket and put a pillow under her head. After lying down, Riley threw the second blanket over the both of them and fell asleep.
The next morning Anne woke up lying against a hard but warm object, she sat up and looked around. As she sat up she saw an arm fall from around her and saw Riley still asleep. She also noticed that they weren't in the tower, but in the hanger. Anne kissed Riley before going up the ladder, she met everyone else in the kitchen.
"Morning Anne" Hera said handing her an empty cup.
"Thanks Hera, morning guys" Anne started making coffee when a deep, raspy voice started talking.
"Spector 2, come in Spector 2"
"This is Spector 2, go on Fulcrum" Hera said walking out the room. Everyone got close to the closed doors to eavesdrop.
"I have to information for Riley but he's not picking up"
"He's sleeping, he deserves it"
"Roger that, give him the information I'm sending, Fulcrum out"
Hera walked back in and took a seat at the table, everyone returned to their previous spots to try and not raise suspicion.
"Is something wrong?" Kanan asked sitting next to Hera.
"Read this" Hera weakly handed the data pad to Kanan.
"This is information on agent Kallus" Kanan looked at Hera confused. "Why would he have this?"
"Fulcrum sent it, it has information on his whereabouts" Hera took a sip of coffee.
"Let me see that" Anne took the data pad from Kanan.
Anne read it and looked more depressed as she carried on.
"Oh, Kallus was the one who took away him parents" Anne passed the data pad back to Kanan. "He wants revenge"
"Kallus took away my parents?!" Sabine shouted looking like she was about to bomb the planet just to kill him. "He also left my brother to die in our home, could he ever be so heartless?!"
"Calm down Sabine, we need to stop Riley from leaving" Zeb looked at the information. "This stuff is quite detailed, just don't show it to him"
"But he needs to know" Hera protested.
"He needs to know but he could get himself killed" Anne said worried.
"I'll be there with him" Sabine still looked angry.
"We can't go after Kallus" Kanan said looking like he made a hard decision.
"Why not?" Ezra looked confused.
"It's against what I was raised to believe, it's against the Jedi way" Kanan put his head in his hands.
"We have to decide somehow" Sabine said annoyed.
"I'm going, you don't have to" Riley said picking up the data pad that Zeb had put down.
"You're not going without me" Sabine jumped out of her seat.
"No, none of you are" Riley turned around and started to walk out but was stopped by Sabine.
"They were my parents too" Sabine out a hand on his shoulder.
"This is about more than just our parents Sabine" Riley left letting the door shut behind him.
"We're helping aren't we?" Sabine turned but everyone stayed quiet. "Anne?"
"Like old times, Sabine?" Anne walked over and hugged her. "I want to help Riley just as much as you"
"Guys?" Sabine let go of Anne and looked at everyone else.
"We can't Sabine" Hera said lowly.
"So it's just me and Anne?" Sabine didn't get an answer so she walked out.
With Riley
Riley was in his, Anne's and Snow's room, Snow was still asleep when he walked in but awoke when Riley started packing.
"Where are you going?" Snow asked still in her bed.
"To Naboo, Kallus is there with his family" Riley packed away some food and Credits.
"Are you going to kill him?" Snow looked at the ceiling.
"I don't know, I don't want to become him" Riley put the last of the things in his backpack.
"Can I come with?" Snow sat up on the top bunk.
"Sorry Snow, it's too dangerous" Riley shouldered the backpack. "I'm going alone, be back soon"
Riley walked out of the Ghost only to be met by Sabine and Anne.
"We're going, like it or not" Sabine stood crossing her arms.
"Why do you want to go Sabine?" Riley thought about giving them a chance.
"I want to go because he took our parents and left you for dead" Sabine said sternly.
"So revenge, Anne?"
"I want to go because you're the two people closest to me, I'm not letting you go alone" Anne put her arms on her hips.
"To help, come on" Riley walked past the two not even giving them second looks.
"Why are you doing this Riley?" Sabine asked running to his side.
"Kallus is the reason everyone has suffered, I want to show him how much he made people suffer" Riley calmed down when Anne held his hand. "I'm not going to kill him, I can't kill his family"
"Why not?" Sabine asked subconsciously.
"Because I'm not Kallus, or imperial. I'm not a murderer" Riley put on his helmet.
Everyone walked quietly to the market, Riley bought Anne a weapon and armour like promised. She had Mandalorian armour, it was white with pink stars and three black lines running across the middle of her chest plate. Her helmet was a modified Mandalorian helmet, it was reinforced and had a Y for a visor. They arrived at the space port and got on their shuttle, they sat at the back.
"Thanks for the equipment Riley" Anne sat by the window.
"I promised didn't I?" Riley didn't sound so happy, but distressed. He sat in the seat behind.
"What's wrong?" Sabine asked sitting next to Anne.
"I don't know what to do" Riley sat back looking at a round piece of metal. "This was from the last time I met him"
"What is it?" Anne looked behind her and took of her helmet.
"It's a shell, from a poison dart" Riley started rolling it around his hand.
"When was the last time you met?" Sabine asked taking off her helmet.
"The day to found me" Riley tightened his hand into a ball of fist.
"Oh, so what's the plan?"
"We go to the Royal Palace in Theed, break in and get him and his family alone" Riley removed his helmet and started rubbing the scar.
"You should sleep, you seemed stressed" Anne placed a hand on his shoulder. "We'll wake you when we're there"
"I'm fine" Riley looked at Anne's eyes, she was pleading him. "Ok, I'll sleep"
Anne removed her hand while Riley put his helmet back on and tried to fall asleep. The girls just talked through the trip.
"It'll be like back at the academy, you and me fighting our way to victory" Anne waved her hands around.
"Except, it'll be us making sure Riley doesn't get himself killed" Sabine scowled a bit.
"Are you ok?" Anne looked at Sabine, almost scared.
"I just want to get this over with, I can't wait to kill Kallus" Sabine sighed heavily.
"Keep it down, you want us to get caught" Anne placed a hand over Sabine's mouth. "We're not killing Kallus"
"We'll see, he needs to be punished" Sabine looked out the window, they just entered hyperspace. "Have you ever been to Naboo?"
"No, I've never left Mandalor" Anne thought about what types of planets there could be. "You?"
"No, I've been past the system but that's as far" Sabine put on her helmet. "We need sleep too"
"Ok, we could use it" Anne put on her helmet, it still felt heavy to her.
The three fell asleep, Riley was having another nightmare. He stood in the Royal Palace of Theed, Anne and Sabine had been knocked down. Kallus pulled out his Bo-staff and thrusted it into their backs, Riley felt useless because he was being restrained by four troopers on against a wall. Eventually, he shot both Anne and Sabine making Riley jump out of his seat.
He looked around and saw they docked, he woke Anne and Sabine. He didn't tell them about his nightmare because he didn't want them to worry.
"So, Theed" Sabine said walking out the shuttle.
"Looks nice" Anne walked out after, Riley just walked down a street. "Riley, are you ok?"
"Yeah, sorry" Riley pointed to a large building. "We need to find somewhere to stay"
"Ok, let's go" Sabine walked passed Riley, she knew he was hiding something.
"I know you had another nightmare" Anne walked alongside him towards the hotel. "You don't have to talk about it"
"Just stay safe" Riley let Anne through the door first.
"If you will" Anne walked up to the counter where Sabine was standing.
"We've got a room" Sabine wasn't finished. "They only have two small beds"
"I'll sleep on the floor" Riley offered.
"Why not with me?" Anne said disappointed.
"Two small beds" Riley took the key from the receptionist. "Thank you, have a nice day"
"Room 14" Riley searched for the number along the hallway.
"So what was your nightmare about?" Sabine asked the question unexpectedly.
"I don't want to talk about it right now, later" Riley unlocked the door into a small room.
There were two small beds on the left hand side, a TV on the wall to the right, a table in a separate room on the right with a bathroom to the left.
"Decent" Sabine walked over to one of the beds.
"The beds are small, sorry Riley" Anne started to remove her armour.
"We won't be here for very long, so make it last" Riley looked around the room.
"Where are you going to sleep?" Anne still removing her armour.
"In the dining room, move the table against the wall and stack the chairs" Riley put down his bag and weapon.
"So, when can I try this thing?" Anne asked setting down her small blaster. "What is it?"
"Clones use to use them, they're rare now" Riley sat down on one of the chairs, he felt dizzy and collapsed.
