My god how long has it been since I've updated. From the website it says about since last July or august so shit, almost a year. I` sorry for the long wait guys, a lot has happen in this year. First I`m going to high school and I got into, what is it, the 63rd best high school in the nation. I worked my ass off for three days to get into it. I know right. I'm taking regents because I'm in New York. I have a lot of shit happening this year. Bu I listened too many of your reviews and I took my time with this chapter. It's not perfect definitely but whatever time I spent on it I used in wisely. Some new characters will be introduced. I know many people want characters introduced now because of boredom but I'm making this story realistic so it'll be a while for characters to be introduced but I promised everyone a spot and some of those spots will take their effect in this chapter. I will try as hard as a can to update every month if not possibly every two months. I am also in need of some help in which I will mention at the end of the chapter. I had a problem yesterday and for some reason when I uploaded the document, it converted it in HTML code. I apologize for the misshap so here is the full thing today.
So read and enjoy after the long wait whoever stayed throughout this past year to read this.
Author`s Suggestion: if you don't remember what happened in past chapters, don't be afraid to read them over they were awfully short so it won't take much time.
When she opened her eyes she couldn't move or see anything. Rena`s body was completely numb. It took at least 5 minutes for some of the feeling to come back to her. When she finally She was tied up to something and couldn't move at all. After a few more seconds, she finally got all the feeling in her body back. She was sitting and her hands were tied behind the back of the chair. Her feet were tied to the legs of the chair and her mouth was gagged - practically immobilized...and blind. Her glasses were missing and being in a dark room didn't help things. Then again, even if there was just a little bit of light it wouldn't have made much of a difference.
Rena struggled for a few minutes but her bindings were too tight. She wiggled around in the chair to shift her position just a little. There had to be something in here that would be sharp enough to cut rope. She shook the chair and herself back and forth until she fell forward. Now having more room she started to wriggle her hands around. After a few more minutes and some added blisters from the ropes, she managed to free her wrists. Then, what sounded like footsteps started to come from the ceiling. With her head still on the floor she used whatever existing strength she had left to twist her and the chair to the left, allowing herself to lift her face up a little. She pulled her torso up to her feet and tried to get the ropes off. She couldn't do it though, the knots were way too tight. Rena wondered why the bonds on her hands were looser than the ones on her legs. The footsteps from above faded, but now they seemed to walking right towards her. Scared now, she worked frantically but it was no use. The ropes seemed as if they were completely unbreakable.
The door opened. Unable to see because of the blinding light (and loss of glasses), Rena squinted only to see only the silhouette of a girl. She walked up to Rena and pulled out a knife. Instead of killing her, she cut the ropes off Rena`s legs and helped her up. Still practically blind without her glasses, the only thing she could see was a blurred image of blue hair. Although she didn't know who this girl was and what she was doing here but by the sound of the footsteps from the ceiling, this was the person who was walking upstairs. Without having any second thoughts, Rena balled her right hand into a fist and swung in to the girl`s face with whatever strength she had left. Caught off guard, the girl was unable to react. Given the advantage, Rena managed to deliver a square hit. Rena grabbed the girl's neck to choke her. But the first punch to the face was good enough to knock her out cold.
The girl`s body went completely limp almost immediately. She let go of the girl and her body slumped to the floor. Still unable to see, she stumbled around the room a little bit before she came across the open door in which the girl came in through. Rena could tell the room was small, despite her lack of sight. She gingerly walked to the back of the room and saw a desk. On it were wrenches, screws and a toolbox. Still blurred eyed, Rena couldn't tell what from what. She was feeling her way through this. Finally she put her hands on a metal from that was shape like her glasses. She grabbed them and put them on. Yep, her glasses. She could finally see again.
To get out of the room she had to move the body of that girl aside. Rena took note that the blue haired girl was slowly regaining consciousness. She was also wearing the school uniform of Fujimi high. Rena didn't really care who this was or where she was going. All she cared about was the fact that this girl had her tied up. She grabbed the girl and dragged her to the chair she was originally tied in. She emptied the girl`s pockets and used the remaining rope to tie her up. She found some extra rope in the toolbox and put it to the use for more elaborate knot work, just to make it more difficult to get out of. Then she found duct tape and used that to wrap around her body over all the rope.
Rena leaned into the girl's face. "Have fun." She whispered into her ear before closing the door and leaving her in total darkness. Exactly in the same predicament she was in roughly 10 minutes ago...maybe longer. She left the room and went upstairs. Apparently this was only the basement of the house.
"I`m hungry" she mumbled. Only silence replied to her random complaint.
The group drove in the night towards William`s house. As soon as they left their previous location, Hiro told everyone in the car that he knew a place for them to stay. He said that a friend of his would be more than willing to hold them in safe keeping for a while. It was late night now and the only two awake were Hiro who was driving and Misaki who was sticking her head out the window to help her stay alert. That wasn't really much of a problem when the occasional insect hit her cheek. They drove out of the city and towards Chiba.
The entire drive they haven't seen a single living person. If anything, there was the occasional livestock or maybe a wild animal, otherwise there were just walkers...for miles all around. They kept going for several more hours, stopping occasionally to either eat, take a bathroom break, or refill on gas, sometimes having hold off zombies if they were spotted while doing so. Hiro told Misaki that they're in the neighborhood and it's only a few minutes away. Misaki looked out the window - the neighborhood they entered was practically a ghost town - with no sign of life or any kind of movement. No humans or walkers were around. All the houses were locked up and curtains drawn. The whole little village looked pretty normal besides the fact that no one was outside. That is, if the place was still populated. They kept driving until they reached a blockade.
Four cars were turned sideways and completely cut off the road, making it unable for them to continue by wheels. They had to abandon their vehicle and continue by foot.
"The heck is this?" asked Misaki gesturing her hand towards the lined up cars that formed the little makeshift wall.
"It`s a defense mechanism. Helps keep Them out. Look…" he pointed to the sidewalk. The four cars were parked side by side, even stretching out to the sidewalk. "If we can barely get through here I doubt any of Them can."
"But why all this?" She pressed.
"There's probably more than one person behind these entry points."
"Should I wake them?" She asked.
"Yes."
"Hey, Wake up!" Misaki yelled to the two in the back.
"There's no need to be so harsh." He said.
"You want them awake I`m getting them awake."
Katsu opened her eyes slowly but Satoko was still asleep and didn`t do as much as stir. Katsu slowly got up letting Satoko remain peacefully asleep in the back seat. "We there?" Hiro just pointed to the front window.
"We have to go on foot?" She asked, still feeling groggy.
Hiro and Misaki nodded. Everyone started getting out of the car. Hiroto and Misaki went to the trunk and got out all the bags. A total of three - not really much - and dropped them on the ground. Katsu grabbed her sister and carried her on her shoulders. Hiro grabbed two bags and Misaki grabbed the last one. They left the car and started their way towards the blockade. They threw the heavy bags over the little wall and started clambering over the lined up cars. Walking past the blockade, Hiro noticed that most of the houses that were in front of him had their lights on.
What surprised the group even more was the fact that there were people walking around as if everything were fine - like there wasn't some kind of zombie apocalypse going on or has been occurring within the last few hours. Doors were opened and it looked normal. The group continued down the street. "His apartment is right there." Hiro pointed.
In front of them just a few blocks ahead, was a large apartment building about 8 stories tall. While walking towards the building, they noticed that nobody was really paying attention to any of them. Three people and a little girl holding three bags and a weapon really didn't spark much of a reaction from the people at this time of night. There were no cars at all. Stores were open and still selling things while people were up and about buying them without a clue of what`s happening in the real world. While walking to the building a few people would wave and say "Hi" to Hiro as if they knew him. When the group finally arrived to the building Hiro dropped the bags and went up to the door.
"Stay here I`ll get him for you." Before they could argue he disappeared inside. Misaki and a sleeping Katsu were left alone in awkward silence. Not knowing what to say, they stood side by side in utter silence. The past few hours were traumatizing for them, even more for Satoko and Katsu having lost one of the last people who cared for them. And after all that, they don't even know where their brother is. For all she knew he was dead.
"I`m going to go talk to the neighbors and see what's up." Said Misaki running off to talk to the locals, leaving her with her sister and the bags. After another two minutes Hiro came outside of the building along with a blonde haired boy.
The two walked towards Katsu. Hiro pointed to the bags next to Katsu and said, "Those three over there" he immediately went and picked all three of them without trouble.
"Who`s the muscle head?" asked Katsu irritably.
"He`s more than that. And like I said he`s the one who`s going to help us for now." He looked around the area, "Where`d she go?"
"Went to explore."
"You go with him and get settled in his house. Get acquainted." He said.
Katsu holding her sister started their way to his apartment. It was on the first floor, convenient for her. The hallway of doors seemed to be the fanciest thing she`s seen, almost like a hotel. When they got to the apartment, apartment 1F to be exact, Katsu quickly told the boy to open the door so she can put her sister down. As soon as she got the chance, she found a couch a few feet away from the window and put her sister there.
"Damn you're heavier than you look." She found a comforter sheet on the couch across from her, what's up with the couches, she thought. She grabbed the sheet and put it over her sister. She started to twist and turn, Katsu eased her by saying, "Don't worry, I'm right here. No one is going to hurt you." That's seemed to do the trick as Satoko stopped rustling and finally went to sleep.
Katsu walked up to the blonde haired boy who was standing in the kitchen preparing some food. She put out her hand to introduce herself, "Katsu Sasaki, nice to meet you."
He shook her hand and said his name, "William Connor"
"You're a foreigner. Correct me if I'm wrong but you`re a Brit to be exact."
"True. I came here about two years ago." He talked in a tone that made it obvious he was a little nervous.
"Dude, calm yourself. I'm not going to eat you. Take a seat." She pointed at the kitchen dining table as she sat in one of the seats. "I prefer standing" he said crossing his hands.
"Pushy little thing aren't ya." She said in a teasing tone.
"So why are you and your buddies here with Hiro? He said he`d only come here if it were an extreme emergency."
"So you're saying those things out there aren't considered an emergency. They've been killin` people left and right." She said in an angry tone.
"I`m not saying that's not dangerous or anything," he said in an apologetic tone, "I'm asking why all of you came here."
Katsu stood up, "Is there a problem?" She asked, almost yelling. Her voice sounded a little aggressive.
"No, no problem at all" he said putting his hands up.
She finally sat down, calming herself down, "We just happened to be there at the time. That's it. There's no way he did that out of the goodness of his heart."
Now William got serious, "You`re wrong." He put his hands on the dining table and looked at Katsu, "He may be the nicest person I`ve known throughout my life." Clearly insulted by what she had just said, William went on to tell why he has such a respect to Hiro.
"I owe everything I have here to him." He started. "About 10 years ago, my parents died in the 9/11 attack. They were workers in the building and died that day. I was left alone at an orphanage and I left it when I was 14. I worked on the streets of New York until I met Hiro there unexpectedly one day. He offered me a new chance of life. He brought me here and gave me a place to stay and a job. I`m in school and living an "okay" life because of him. If it weren't for him, I would either be dead or living in a subway." He finished off.
"So he`s a goody two shoes?" she said without even looking at him. Feeling irritated by her response he said, in a teeth wrenching tone, "Yes."
"Look, I'm sorry about whatever happened to you today," He started in a reasonable tone, "But that isn't a reason to go around and be a dick to the first person you see."
It hung in the air for a good 4 minutes before Katsu finally responded. "Point taken."
She finally looked at him finally getting a good clear look at him, a tall, over 6 feet, blonde haired Brit with dark blue eyes and wavy hair swooped to the right side of his head. His features were pretty normal despite him being pure muscle and bone. He wore simple jeans and a sweatshirt. "I apologize for being rude. You're right, I did have a pretty shitty day today. I should be thanking you for keeping us here."
"It`s understandable considering the situation." He said. After a short silence, he decided to spark a conversation, "So…what happened to you today." He asked cautiously, not wanting to trigger any more aggressive behavior.
"Don't be so shy." She said reassuring him, "The world went to shit and my grandparents died. I took my sister," she pointed out the door, "and left. My brother might be dead too for all I know."
William went up to the grieving girl and put his hand on her shoulder, "Whatever happens, happens. There is no reason to live in the past. Anyhow, if he`s your brother, if he is anything like you, I`m pretty sure he won't go down easily."
"He`s not like me but he`ll survive. Just don`t know how long till we see each other again."
Just as they were going to continue the conversation, Misaki came in the door, "Come here Quick you have to see this," she said in a desperate tone.
… … … … … … …
The girl knelt behind a car, spying on a group of male survivors discussing what they should do next. From what the girl could see, she saw eight shoes from beneath the car. At least 4 guys. These boys were from the High School not so far away from here. Fujimi High she recalled. They wore the standard school uniform. Two of the three had their jackets open while the other two had them closed. All of them look average enough; not really worth the description. One of them had large muscles bulging from his shirt. He had a spiky crew cut and was the only one that stood out from the rest. The others looked like his minions of sorts.
The girl was waiting for the four to move away from the house they were standing near. The building was abandoned so she could stay there for while if she needed to. She hardly ever came in contact with High Schoolers. She was in her senior year in middle school and lived far from this location. Her school was closed for repairs so she was staying with her Aunt. Her Aunt left in the morning for work, as usual but when the house was overrun with walkers, she had no other choice but to flee. So she made it here and has been looking for a place to stay up 'till now. It's better to stay indoors than be outside in this mess.
The teenagers were talking about the new world they were in. How they can now do anything without getting caught?
"Dude there's no cops around here at all. They don't even respond to calls anymore we got the whole city to ourselves." One said, addressing the group in a loud, commanding voice.
Another suggested they should try avoiding trouble for the time being. And that the main concern now was to get out of the situation they're in.
All of the group members disagreed, not taking common sense into consideration. They were too caught up with their own desires.
"Hey maybe we can find some chicks." He said in a creepy tone that sent chills down the girl's spine. "There no rules any more Right?"
"I guess, but that still doesn't mean it`s right." As soon as he said that, the whole group started to yell at him.
The girl was not in a good spot. If she were caught my thugs, who knows what they would do to her. Her main priority now changed to getting the hell out of here. She boded her time but the group would not stop at it. Finally she grew impatient and waited for a distraction. A miracle. When she saw a chance, she got up to book it but she tripped on some broken glass from the car she was hiding behind and fell miserably. Immediately, the male group looked up to the direction she was and started their way towards her.
"Lookie what we got here." Said one with a buttoned up jacket. "Someone spying on us huh?" "She's a cutie too." Another said devilishly. All of them started making their way toward her, probably expecting some fun. But the one with spiky hair seemed to be the only one disagreeing. The girl got up quickly and brushed her short hair away from her eyes. Three tall and somewhat muscular teens were about to do something to her. Her heart pounded in her chest and she could feel her pulse in her head. Compared to them she was an ant. Each of them was at least five feet and 11 inches while s was still a measly 5 foot 2. She was obviously no match against them but she at least had to put up some fight.
She got up to her feet as quickly a she can and put up her fists. There were three guys walking towards her. The crew cut boy was standing in the back watching while his "friends" walked up to attack her. She put up her fists and slowly stepped back making room between her and her soon to be assailants.
"You gonna fight us little Girl?" One said in a mocking voice. He was leading the "pack of wolves," so to speak, and was the first to attack. The girl had no fighting skill of the sort but the way the boys in front of her acted, they didn't either. To finally take her small size to the advantage, as he ran toward her she simply sidestepped at the last moment to let him run off. Instead he ran and expecting to be in front of the girl he lost his sense of direction and fell in front of his face. She didn't attack him but instead kept moving to make more space. The other two clearly shocked to see their friend taken down so casually ran up to the leader and helped him up. Then one of the two guys started to attack her. After a few tries, he managed to land a blow on the side of her head.
She didn't get knocked out but the punch was strong enough to knock her to the ground. From what she saw he was fine besides a few minor cuts. This time the leader was even madder and charged at her again. Obviously not learning his lesson he went at her again only for her to sidestep again. But this time he didn't fall he instead kept his balance and was able to stand to an extent. Bent down he caught the girl off-guard and was able to land an upper cut punch to her face.
The punch was strong enough to knock the girl off her feet and onto her back, but again, not enough to knock her out. Just as she fell she saw him walk up to her with a smile on his face. Afraid of what would happen now, she got up quickly and moved her jaw, rubbing the sore spot with her hand. Nothing was broken which clearly meant the boy was holding back. It hurt though so she moved it around to get used to the pain. She started to make space again. This entire time she and the other boys have been circling around the car she was hiding behind. Finally she thought it best to go on the offensive side and land a few good punches, not strong ones but something that will just inflict a little pain. Distancing herself, she saw the second boy go on ahead for an attack, so she ran towards him first. He put his hand out in a fist for her to run into but she ducked and was able to stand right behind the boy. She then kicked her feet at his legs which caused him to stumble and lose balance, thus falling.
One of the other boys looked at his friend which gave the girl a chance to hit him off guard. She ran up to him with her swift legs and punched him as hard as she could in the face. Though the moment was fast, she could see the shock wave it caused to his face, in rippling around his face. She punched him so hard that it numbed her hand. The boy still dazed she went up to him and kicked him square in the stomach to finally bring him down.
She didn't pay much attention to the other boy looking after the leader. As she kicked the second thug, the last one ran up behind her and grabbed her hands. He put them behind her back to immobilize her. Then he lifted his knee and kicked her in the back, causing her legs to buckle.
Now on her knees and regaining some of her senses, she notice that all the boys were getting up. Behind the car however, the crew cut kid was not there anymore. Just as she was about to give up to the boys grip, she heard a load crunching sound. When she looked behind her, the crew cut boy was there in a mid-punch to the third kids face. His grip loosened and she got up.
The crew cut boy's punch was so strong thug some of the thug's teeth flew out causing a large spray of blood from his gums and his now bleeding nose. He fell to the floor is such a force that the girl felt it from here. He landed on his back with his nose and mouth leaking blood, his body clearly unconscious. The last two boys got up ready to fight their former friend.
"What's wrong with you?" One of them asked, sounding confused and a little angry. He had to cut short on his speech when crew cut came at him with brute force. Using the trick the girl used, the thug side stepped only to know that he wasn't the target. The last thug standing in the back was tackled to the floor like a football player. Crew cut punched the boy in the face as much as he can until the one he had past pulled him off. The rest was like an American wrestling match... all of them using brute force until one prevailed. Eventually, crew cut prevailed knocking the two unconscious.
His hands were bruised and bleeding but he never felt so alive in his life. This being the first fight he ever participated in. He went up to the girl who was sitting down clutching her leg. He saw some blood around her and asked what had happened.
His only response from her was her whimpering and trying to get away from the gentle boy. "Let me see it. I'm not like the others." The girl eventually let him since he was the one who saved her from the boys that attacked her. He moved her hands away from her right leg, exposing a glass chard about the size of a hand embedded within her leg towards the front. When she was pushed down by one of the thugs, she fell on her leg and then on her stomach. The car she was hiding behind earlier crazed and glass shards of it flew everywhere all the way to the building where she fell.
"Shit" said the boy in a worried and concerned tone. "I'm not a doctor but I know a little from games on what to do with a wound like this. I think that if you pull it out, you're going to have to wrap something around it and tie it to stop the blood flow. But that'll take too long and it's really painful. We need to find a place to rest first."
The boy paused. "Can you stand at least?" He asked. The girl tied to stand on one leg first. She stood but as soon as she put weight on the injured leg she slumped down. "Alright I'll carry you." The girl heard this and started wondering if she had an option on what to do. She still wasn't entirely sure if the boy was trustworthy or not. He was nice which made her a little suspicious. But the amount of noise the fight caused is going to start bringing the dead to this area. She had no options. But she did have a plan. If the crew cut boy tried anything, she'd rip the glass shard out of her leg and use that as a weapon against him.
The boy picked her up and held her bridal style. Holding her was nothing for him. His large build and strong arms could lift her tiny body like paper. He started running away from the scene. He wasn't a very fast runner from what the girl could tell. He seemed more like the work out guy. One who goes to the gym and all but rarely plays sports. He ran up to some random houses to see if any had their doors open and asked the girl to try the handle. It was locked so he went to the next house. Eventually they had no choice but to break into one. The boy kicked open the door of a large mansion. He looked for a room and found a bed. He dropped the girl there and found out that she was still bleeding. He turned the lights on in the dark room. The room was fairly large but didn't have much space in it to move around. It was filled completely with books. Shelves high and the floor littered with them. It wasn't very neat ironically.
Someone's a fanatic." He said staring at the piles of books. "Alright, I'm going to look for some alcohol and bandages to fix that wound. Stay here." The boy started leaving the room but suddenly turned around as if forgetting something, "By the way, my name is Daisuke." Then he started his way again without asking for her name. How nice the girl thought. She thought about his name for a second and she remembered that his name in Kanji has the literal definition of 'Great Helper'. No wonder she thought. The suspicions of the boy trying to attack her have dropped dramatically in the girl`s head.
The girl put the right leg out in front of her and her left leg underneath it in a folding position. He looked at her upper right leg which had the shard embedded within it. The flesh and tissue around the wound was starting to get numb which was a good thing. There wasn't much pain anymore. Only when she put pressure on the wound then the tissue and flesh would move, disrupting the nerves and causing her excruciating pain. She put her hand around the shard, it was shaped like a long triangle that was crooked. The point was stuck in her. From how the angle looked she guessed the shard to be in by an inch and a half or possibly two. She moved the shard a little which was her biggest mistake. The pain shot up through her leg all the way to her head. It was so intense that she was starting to feel dizzy. The problem was, that one of her nerved was directly next to the shard or near it. Any movement would damage it or cause disturbance in her nerve functions resulting in yet more pain. When she decided to leave it alone, a piece of the triangular glass fell off. A small sharp enough piece for her to cut her jeans. It was about the size of a thumb and was also a mini triangle shard at one end. She used it to cut a circle about three inches in diameter around the glass. She cut that little circle in half and separated it from her jeans so she can now get a better view of the wound. Now some of her in and the entirety of the wound was exposed.
The skin directly around the wound had risen up by half a centimeter; maybe one. It surrounded and shaped around the wound. It wasn't bleeding that much except for a little on the end of it. The sticky liquid stained her pants. She looked at the piece she cut and realized that it wasn't supposed to be that deep of a color. Her jeans were soaked so much that its hue had changed to dark red despite the pants being a bright blue coloring. Her skin was covered in blood still somewhat fresh.
The girl heard footsteps coming near her and she felt relieved that the boy Daisuke had come back to help her. The footsteps became clearer until a figure emerged in front of the doorway, yawning. He stood at approximately five foot nine inches had dark brown hair that complemented his dark brown eyes. His hair was very messy and his eyes were barely open as if he had just woken up. He wore large rectangular glasses and was very skinny. He wore the same exact school uniform that Daisuke wore only he had a black shirt in instead of a white one. Midway in his yawn, he started saying, "Ren…why the hell are you up so early?" his yawn ended with his head pointed up with his eyes closed. He put his head down and opened his eyes only to see not his companion but a small middle school girl laying across a bed in a room full of books.
He stared at the girl. "How you doin?" in a strange accent
How was it? Tell me in the reviews and tell me your suggestions. Oh I completely forgot. I'd like to give credit for my very close friend Panda Bear Lover 317 for helping me with the edits of this chapter, and all my friends who gave me suggestions and helped me continue on. Now about that job offering, I'm in need of a person who will help me co-write this story with me. You know, give suggestions help write when I'm not here. You don't have to be on 24/7 as I'm practically never on. However in order to become the co-writer you have to pass a little test, to see if you are dedicated or not. I want you to take chapter 6 of the FanFiction and rewrite in your own way. The whole thing. It's a lot to ask but if you want to do it go ahead. There's no deadline. The next chapter when I get time will be an announcement on what OC`s will or will not be in. I'm still accepting but the OC has to be very very good to be a main protagonist.
Cheers and wait a week for the next chapter I'll try it this week hopefully.
