The wait was the most agonizing part.

So much had happened in one day, it was difficult to keep up.

So many questions, but no answers were given. Lenalee knew that Allen would be just fine, knowing the 15 year old him, but seeing his past unravel before her very eyes was frightening.

Lavi hated to admit it, but as a Bookman, he was meant to have no sympathy, nor empathy to others. The past was meant to be simple ink on paper, but seeing the written words come to life in front of him, it was a different experience.

More than anything, they both were exhausted, but after hearing the child's agonized shriek, it was enough to keep them awake for

It was almost as confusing as the day before.

The thoughts that swirled in the exorcists' minds had vanished entirely when they heard the sound of the creaking door open. They were greeted by an aged, face wrinkly face they had previously seen.

"He'll be just fine. Although, it will leave a scar. His mental health, on the other hand, is a different story. He's currently been given sedative. He'll be out for at least a few hours." She said, emotionless.

"But can't we see him?" Lenalee said desperately.

"I suppose you can. But there isn't much you can do. As I said before, he's knocked out. Just don't do anything too loud or obnoxious that would disturb him."

Lavi didn't miss the glance that was passed to him by Lenalee and Komui.

"I want to stay with Allen, too." Komui said.

"But brother, you have work to do." Lenalee replied, earning a cringe from the chief.

"Isn't that right, Komui? Don't worry, I'll look after her and Allen." Lavi popped in.

Unnoticed by him, the clipboard snapped under Komui's grip.

"You will NOT be alone with my dear sweet baby sister!" Komui raged.

"She won't be alone. Allen's here, too!" Lavi pointed out.

"I already say you will ABSOLUTELY NOT-" Suddenly, a high heel went flying towards the dark haired man's head.

"What did I tell you? Do NOT disturb the patients!" The nurse whispered wrathfully.

"R-right.. Sorry.." Komui and Lavi both said fearfully.

Komui left.

Lenalee and Lavi were now sitting in two chairs near the bed.

Allen's breathing had returned to normal. He seemed peaceful, despite it being a drug-induced sleep.

"What are we going to do once he wakes up?" Lenalee spoke.

"Probably get some lunch.." Lavi suggested.

The female exorcist hadn't noticed before, but she actually was rather on the hungry side.

"The nurse said it would be a few hours. We should probably go eat while we have the time." The redhead was desperate to distract the worried girl. He wasn't that good when it came to angst.

"..Okay." She said with lack of surety.

With that, they left the room, leaving the unconscious boy to himself.

All was pitch black in the boy's mind, a dark void in all directions.

Questioning thoughts swirled in his head.

Will he be able to beat the level four akuma? Wait, no, should he bring back his foster father? Should he trust this clown? Should he join the circus?

Each thought made his head pound harder and harder, the pain throbbed to the beat of each passing idea.

The white hot pain singed the top of his ears.

It felt like the inside of his head had been set on fire, the protected tissue being torn apart as the stringy muscle was being ripped and snapping away like a broken rubber band.

Why did it hurt so much?

For the second time that night, a scream tore The Order.

Lenalee and Lavi had eventually made it down to the cafeteria. Lenalee was rather grateful that she and Lavi would be able to enjoy a meal together after all that has happened in the past few days. She would finally be able to relax.

The two sat at one of the many empty tables. It was still very early compared to the times most woke up at. It was hardly passed 5 a.m by now.

Lavi had begun to choke down his meal, while Lenalee picked at hers, every now and then taking a bite just to please the chef.

Despite the child being the young Allen Walker himself, it sure didn't feel like it.

He definitely wasn't what Lenalee had expected him to be, not that it was a bad thing.

She wasn't sure how to feel about the incident itself. It felt unrealistic to her.

"Lenalee? Are you okay? You spaced out." Lavi interrupted her thoughts before they could spiral any further.

"Yes. I'm fine. What time is it?"

"It's only been about 20 minutes. You might want to start eating some more, it's getting cold."

Lenalee nodded, before she actually took a moment to enjoy the savory meal the outgoing chef had cooked whole-heartedly.

The bite adorned her taste buds with a mixture of flavors creatively paired together, she'd have to make sure to compliment Jeryy on yet another lovely meal.

"What do you think will happen when Allen turns back to normal?" The female exorcist commented after a few minutes of silence.

Lavi cursed himself. He had meant to distract her, but became distracted himself.

"I don't know. He might remember the incident, or might forget it completely." He offered carefully.

She seemed satisfied with his answer, which allowed a wave of relief to flow through his mind.

Lavi was honestly indifferent towards the situation. Especially since he was unsure how to feel about it. It wasn't like it had happened before, which also meant he'd definitely have to record it to Bookman. Of course he held sympathy for Allen, but he didn't know whether it was fake or not. If it wasn't, then he'd have to figure out when his mask dropped.

Both sat in thought as finders, generals, exorcists, and others poured into the cafeteria for breakfast. That was when Lenalee deemed to be finished with her meal.

"I'm done. Should we go?" Lavi said.

"Okay."

And with that, they walked the halls of the Order.

It wasn't until they were almost right outside his door when it happened.

His shriek was enough to cause both teenagers to jolt from surprise. Lenalee was the first one to slam the door open, her eyes fearful for what to come. Lavi came second, equally concerned for the scarred child.

A white lump under the wrinkled bedsheets was twisting a turning in multiple directions. A head of white hair protruded from the dingy bed sheets.

The snowy locks of hair was dreadfully being pulled on by desperate, mismatched hands. His fleshy hand's knuckles clenched tight enough to the point of his knuckles turning white.

His only exposed eye that was once squeezed tightly shut, now allowed his iris to be seen, horrified, dead steel orbs shrunk to the size of a pin.

He looked like he wanted to speak, but something didn't allow him. He looked to be in a great deal of pain, which brought a great deal of worry into both exorcists.

What was happening to Allen?

Late update, I know. It's been about a month since my last update. Sorry.

I've been incredibly uninspired, and I felt bored with the story. But tonight, I basically kicked myself for not updating and forced myself to write a new chapter. As a wrote, it was basically just a bunch of rambling, but as it went, I was getting more ideas. I won't abandon this story. As I read your reviews, It made me so happy that people are actually enjoying this story.

There was this one that really stuck out to me. I know, I'm still rambling, but I'd just like to say thank you so much for your reviews. Without them, I honestly wouldn't keep writing. They're a huge confidence booster, especially after a bad day.

(Sorry for sappy-ness, but I'm so thankful right now! )

Please don't forget to review!
