Epilogue: Final Protocol

Having taken up the mysterious boy's offer, Eggman had taken his pod and flown right out of his Egg Continent. He was going off to one of his old bases, but before he did so he took a moment to go pick up Orbot and Cubot from the arena where the wreckage of the Mecha-Dark Gaia lies. "I can't believe you remembered us." Orbot says in a thankful tone as he leaps into the side of Eggman's gigantic pod.

The doctor lets out a tired sigh as he takes off, and he takes a single glance back at his magnificent battleship before noting to himself "Such a shame that I had to give up that beautiful machine."

Cubot shrugs his shoulders and says "We aren't really surprised you failed again. In fact, Orbot and I had a bet that you'd muck everything up about an hour after we were defeated!"

Eggman quickly glares over at Orbot and says in a scowling tone "And just who won this little bet?"

Orbot doesn't waste any time in raising his hand, and the doctor docks him one on the head for betting against him. He then says "I don't want to hear anything else from either of you. Just shut up and wait for us to get back home…"

Eggman flies his pod through the skies, taking him back to his hidden underground base in an unknown part of the world. Once he arrives, he parks his pod beside a good many others that he has created. Orbot and Cubot float around the base, with Orbot in particular saying "Well, that was a fun experience. I think it's time we bunker down for today, don't you think so my good friend?"

"Yer telling me Orbot! My circuits could use a mighty good refilling!" Cubot replies, and the two tiny robots wander off to go relax. Eggman sighs and rubs the front of his forehead, hoping this headache of his will subside soon enough as he walks off to a large set of doors to the right of his docking bay.

The doors open wide, allowing Eggman access to a darkened room filled with a bunch of file cabinets. The doctor walks towards one of them on the right and opens the middle segment, reaching for a file in the back and pulling it up. The text on the front of the folder says "LOST HEX", and after Eggman folds this folder under his right armpit he says to himself "I need to remember to look into where Metal Sonic ended up…His tracking device wasn't active anywhere on the Egg Continent."

Eggman turns around and starts to walk out of the room, but glances back and looks inside while commenting to himself "…I won't jump right into that plan yet, I've had enough craziness for one day."

The doctor clicks on the button that'll shut the door entirely, but before the doors seal up all the way one could take a brief peak inside and see what Eggman was talking about. Lined up in dozens upon dozens of rows were gigantic test tubes containing the growing clone bodies of Chaos, Black Doom, Dark Gaia, Ifrit, and Iblis. The door seals shut, and Eggman walks off in silence…

And that's the end of the Sonic part. Truth be told, this story was the one I was looking forward to writing the most out of all the stories in Part 4. Been a big fan of the series for a while, and I'm glad I was able to use it's lore to the best of my ability. Admittedly, not everything was concrete for this story, but bear in mind that I actually had this story planned for a good few years now...Which mostly affected the final chapters more than anything else.

I had to add the Nega-Wisp Armor and Time Eater to the Egg Chimera, but at least in doing so I actually patched up a couple plot holes that would've existed without them. Since I was so close to this part when Sonic Lost World came out, I decided NOT to add any parts from the Final Egg Emperor, especially since I wanted to have this take place after Generations, hence the Lost World nod in the Epilogue.

But yeah, all in all I really enjoyed writing this part, and I hope you enjoyed reading it. Unfortunately, the next story will be delayed for a couple weeks while I take a break to make sure all my notes are in order for the next story. I've hinted at this story only once at the prologue, but now I think it's safe to say what video game world the next story is taking place at.
