Chapter 12

A/N: It's been almost half a year since I updated a chapter and for that I apologize profoundly. I also had writer's block for this chapter. I just didn't know how to start this, but now I have finally written it! It took me less time to write it than I originally thought it would. Happy reading and hope you like this chapter.

When Medeia had entered the cemetery her mind was racing. Why in the world is freaking Scorpia was here? There were hundreds of question rushing through her mind, but that one was the most important and one which she was concerned with. Passing through rows of new built headstones and hearing the breathing of the two men following her.

Hah. Only two men. Do they actually believe that they will be able to hold me off? Medeia scoffed at them. Then a small, rounded object flew past her face. She did not look back, but now she had a frowned on her face. Ok. Men who obviously have weapons at their disposable and just when I forgot my own gun at home. She thought sarcastically.

Medeia kept running through the rows of headstones noticing the stones were becoming worn down and chipped away. I have two options here. Either I can run and flee leaving Alex by himself to deal with these guys or confront the two following me and help Alex. I'll go with the second option then. Medeia was a few feet away from the men. Another bullet flew pass her face. This time grazing her cheek and leaving a shallow scratch on her cheek.

Medeia was forming a plan in her mind. There was only two of them, but they were armed. The men were not experts on aiming at moving targets, but she did not know what they were capable of. Her plan was crazy and could only work once. She had to catch them unawares.

Abruptly, she turned around and started running towards the two men. They were startled at her action, but immediately started firing her. The men could not get a clear shot because of her quick movement. When Medeia was only a few feet away from them, one of them was able to have a clear aim at her. The bullet burrowed itself in her right shoulder. Medeia flinched, but did not stop her approach towards the men.

The men were startled at her approach. Their eyes widened and they clearly thought that she was crazy for heading willingly towards to arm men that were shooting at her. Surprisingly, Medeia was able to be a few feet away from them with only one bullet in her. The men eventually ran out of bullets and did have time to refill their ammo. Medeia was able to kick one in his stomach while the other one tried to tackled her.

She dodged the man and tried to land a kick at his head to knock him out. The man dodged swiftly the other man recovered from her attack and tried to land a punch at her stomach for payback. His fist grazed her stomach, but Medeia knew she will have a bruised afterwards. With it being two against one and both of them being larger than her, Medeia knew that she would not win easily. Danm it1 I have to defeat this guys and make sure Alex is fine. At least they ran out of bullets. At least they were smart enough not to throw away their guns. An idea, formed in Medeia's mind.

Medeia feinted a punch at one of the men. Instead of going to the man's face like he expected she swiftly changed the direction of her arm the waistband of his clothes for the gun. He tried to move away knowing what she was trying to do, but Medeia still managed to retrieve the gun, but not without consequences.

She was so focused on trying to retrieve the gun that the second man was able to land a punch at her back. Medeia's breath left her. She landed on the ground with a crash almost hitting her head against one of the tombs. Medeia landed on her non injured shoulder, which she was grateful for. Her vision was already going blurry because of the bullet wound and the punch. When she landed on the ground there were multiple of bullets lying around from the previous time they had tried to shoot her. She managed to grab three of them and placed them inside the gun.

She stood up slowly. The men were looked at her warily. She may be heavily injured, but she was not the only one that had sustained hits. Her face was starting to throbbed and a bruise was already forming, but she glared at the men and raised their previous gun to them.

The men glanced at each other. They had not seen Medeia grab one of the bullets off the ground and place it in the gun. They thought it was empty. How wrong they were. It would cost them.

One of them ginned maliciously at her. " Now, what are you going to do with that sweat heart? " Medeia shuddered at the endearment in disgust. She hated when strangers tried to act familiar with her.

" I'm gonna shoot you of course," Medeia replied with an evil grin of her own.

" Ahh, do you actually think you will able to do that, sweet heart," the talkative one spoke again. " Don't you think that if it had bullets we would have already used them on you? Although, I'm please to notice that at least one of them was able to get to you." He glanced at her bloodstained shoulder.

Medeia could not yet feel the pain of the injury because of the adrenaline running through her system, but she knew that once this was all over it would hurt as hell. She pushed those thoughts out of her mind for now and focused at the two men in front of her. The talkative one would be easy to deal with, but it was the quiet one that she wary of. Always beware of the quiet ones.

" Enough talking. We should take care of her now," the quiet one responded in a grave voice.

The big mouthed scowled at him. " You're not in charge of this mission and I think we should have fun with her first," he smirked at her.

" The boss did not say anything about anyone accompanying Rider. She is a liability. It would be safer to get rid of her," the man responded.

Medeia was tired of the monologue and decided to take action. She flicked the switch on the gun and took a stance. The men finally noticed her.

''What are going to do now, darling. It's no use. You're cornered and don't have anything else to do."

Medeia did not respond. Neither of the men had a gun protector over them because it did not hurt her fist as much when she managed to punch them. Without warning she pressed the trigger of the gun. The bullet burrowed itself into the man's chest while his white shirt was stained with red. The man's body fell to the ground with a thud and didn't move.

Without reacting to what she had just done, she quickly turned to the other man and shot at him. It missed. The man had only had a few second to react to the death of his partner, but he took the chance of those few second to move away from his spot.

He stared at the young girl before him. He had no idea who she was and having no idea as to who she was gave him more fear. The girl was powerful. The kicks and punches that she was able to manage had made him flinch. He should have worn a gun protector, but had thought of the mission as an easy one. There were four of them to capture one young teenager named Alex Rider. It was rumored in the organization that it was this teenager that had brought down multiple leaders of the head board of the original SCORPIA.

He had brushed away those rumors and thought them as just gossip the guards made up while duty. When he had been chosen for the mission, he was excited. He was still just a grunt. A high up grunt, but still a grunt. He had thought of this as an easy mission. A way to have an easy path to a higher position.

Now, staring at the cold and emotionless eyes of the girl, he was filled with dread. He knew he was going to die. He was able to avoid to the first shot, but the second one shot at him would not miss. They were only a few feet away from each other. The shot would not miss him and he could not hope that the girl would not shoot him at all. There was something in her eyes that said otherwise.

He just wished that he had denied this mission. Not have wanted a higher position and stayed as a lower grunt. He wished he had went into business instead of SCORPIA. Wished he had said goodbye to his mother when he left. Wished he had a family to go to. Wished for-

The man fell to the ground. His face landing on the ground and his body slumped over. The same type of red staining his suit as his partner. His last thoughts never finished and even if he had been able to wish for anything else during his last moments, nothing would have changed. He would have still joined SCORPIA, said yes to the mission, and done all the actions he had done before. The dead could do nothing nor had the chance to do so.

Medeia knew this. She neared the men's corpses and searched them. She found the rest of the bullets of the gun in their breast pockets and placed them in her back jeans pocket. She took the gun of the man she had just killed and placed it in the waistband. The guns were the same model. If she lost the first one then she would have a back up to use.

After putting a set of new bullets in each of the guns she started to walk away from the corpses. Now, I need to find Alex before he is injured. I am sure he is fine. He's smart enough to have stayed alive this far. She had noticed that the man had said Rider. They were after Alex. Medeia did not know of Alex had any relatives or family. She had asked questions to him before, but she had stayed off the topic of family. If she had asked about his family, then he would have asked about hers. She did want to answer any questions about them.

Medeia walked around the ancient part of the cemetery. The sun was going down already. It would be dark in a hour or so. She needed to find Alex soon or it would be harder to escape from them. There were two more men that needed to be taken down. Medeia did not want Alex to know about her. He was interesting, but that was as far as Medeia was willing to go. She was just curious about her. Maybe if the information she had been gathering in her mind during her fight was true then maybe she will give him a few hints about her.

Medeia heard noises on the right side of the cemetery where she was. She headed toward the noise. There were a few bushes where she could hide and not be found. Her eyes instantly found the three burly men looking over the headstones and Alex's hiding spot. At least, Alex was smart enough to hide behind the headstones. It will only be a few minutes before they find him. She only had about five minutes to act. That was enough time for her. She held one of the black guns with a golden scorpion on the handle in her right hand. She crouched behind the same aisle of headstone where Alex was. She moved quickly behind them, trying not to be seen. It was easy as the three men were to buys trying to find out where Alex was and she was absolutely silent in her movements. She had no idea why the men not just spread out to look for him through the aisles. It would be easier and faster to do so.

Medeia shook her head. She was now, two headstones to the right of Alex. The men had already inspected the headstone in front of her and were heading to the one where Alex was hidden behind. At that moment, Medeia stood up and shot three bullets at the men. Two were able to dodge, but one was hit in the center. She just hoped that Alex would be too preoccupied with the other choice to notice or remember about the third one.

Alex's head had quickly turned to her, eyes filled with surprised and gratefulness. Medeia gave him a small smile.

" Glad to see you're still here," Medeia said. There had been a minute where she had thought of Alex getting away already or been captured and the danger she would have been place if they had send a few other to check the graveyard for two of their member missing.

But, Alex wasn't like that. She had only knew him for a day. Only a day. She was absolutely sure that he would not just abandoned her here. A mere civilian and innocent girl roped into this from his eyes. Some would question as to why she was so sure about Alex. Medeia was not sure. Either scenario she pictured could have happened, but she had an instinct feeling about him. In the past following her instinct had helped her in many dangerous situations. She will trust her instinct this time as well concerning Alex. Her mind returned to Alex when he responded.

" Me too," Alex responded with a smile as well.

Medeia smiled brightly at that. She was glad that Alex had survived so far. He was interesting.

A/N: I have finally finished the chapter! I thought the chapter was a little short, but felt that this was a good place to stop. Hoped you like how Medeia defeated her opponents. I'm not really good at fighting scenes, so if anything seems off please feel free to tell. Leave a review!
