Hiya everybody! Chapter Twenty is here at last! For another rough estimation- as it took about a week to get this baby up- I'm saying maybe by mid-October, if I don't have this finished, you all are free to yell at me. Because there aren't that many chapters left, guys, and I'm gonna move as fast as I can on em! This one took a lot longer to get moving than I expected, but now- I think since I have the end in sight it'll pick up the pace. I was actually a bit more inspired by good ol' Owl City earlier this week, so I figured I'd put the lyrics that inspired me to set the mood for the chapter!
As for the two references in the previous chapter- one was Sherlock (The Final Problem- during Reichenbach Fall) the other was from the movie Elektra (right before the climax, her and the main badguy tell each other to meet in the place where it all began for their last showdown- really epic)
Anyway- yeah!
Review Replies from Chapter Nineteen:
oH gosh! So close- one more to 100! :D it'll probably get there after this chapter goes up! ^^ Big thanks to Spiritus Rex, queenlmno, and Novalunni for their reviews! They mean so much to me!
queenlmno asked Natasha: How hard is it to go undercover? And is it harder when you do it for along period of what was it like when you had to go undercover as Natalie Rushman? Was hard not to try to kill Stark?
Natasha: Depends on the assignment, and the longer you stay in character sometimes it gets easier. It was infinitely hard not to try to harass Stark, as I had to remain in character, but I knew the payoff would come, and it did come, when he found out the truth. God, the look on his face was priceless. After that, well, I could mess with him, especially when he knew I had to remain undercover at Stark Industries. And he couldn't do anything about it! -smirks-
DISCLAIMER!
Tony: DMRA owns nothing! and I totally am not a complete wuss in the next Avengers movie- even though they pegged me as making Ultron! IT WASN'T ME IT WAS THE MCU WRITERS-
Me: *wheels Tony away as he breaks down* eheheh...enjoy the chapter guys!
I'd like to make myself believe
That Planet Earth turns slowly
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep
Because my dreams are bursting at the seams...

Chapter Twenty
A light breeze brushed against my face and I smiled contentedly, sitting quietly underneath a tree beside my mystery knight. There was nothing but grassy field around us, and a hazy grey-blue sky loomed over us, the sun hiding behind sketch-like clouds. I laid my head against his shoulder and sighed softly. I closed my eyes as I felt his hand stoke my hair gently.
"Rest, dear, rest," he cooed softly. "Let yourself drift. You're safe here with me." His hands brushed over my eyelids and he wrapped his arm around me. "Let go."
"Isn't it just incredible?" Loki smirked snidely, glancing wickedly to Tori, then back to the coalition of heroes. "How much raw power such a tiny mortal can harness, and all it took to let it out was a bit of…prodding in the right direction."
Clint growled furiously, drawing his bow before he blinked. "You stay the hell away from her!" the archer spat. Loki grinned maliciously.
"Oh, Barton, aren't we feeling heroic?" the god of mischief taunted. Clint narrowed his eyes sharply. "What's it to you to do the noble thing, eh?"
Black Widow surreptitiously put her hand on her team member's shoulder as he pulled the bowstring back tighter. None of the Avengers breathed a word, simply glaring, waiting for whoever was to make the first move. Loki smirked snidely and placed his hand on Tori's shoulder.
"Not that you'd shoot anyway, Hawkeye," he added degradingly, spitting out Barton's codename. Unflinchingly, Clint let go of the bowstring, sending an arrow whizzing at the pair, who promptly teleported a few feet to the side. Loki grinned. "Interesting," he practically purred, before pulling out his staff and stomping it onto the ground. "Why don't you try this on for size?" he cackled, copying himself to surround the team of heroes tenfold.
All of the heroes glared at the Loki duplicates surrounding them.
"They are not really there, only tricks of illusion!" Thor shouted, hurling Mjolnir at one of the ones nearby- but to his shock, the Loki duplicate hit the mighty hammer back to him, grinning wickedly.
"What the hell?" Tony breathed in confusion, knowing as well as Thor and everyone else that Loki's doubles were always just, in lack of a better word, holographic! The real God of Mischief grinned.
"It's true that my copies never had any substance, but with the addition of Miss Matthews's powers, they now do," he casually explained, as the Avengers took battle positions. He led Tori backwards, as his doubles closed in on the six heroes. Steve turned to face Bruce and nodded at him.
"Now would be a good time to get angry, Dr. Banner," he remarked quietly. Bruce gave a slightly sad, slightly determined smile.
"That's my secret Captain," he replied, eyes burning with a fierce rage. "I'm always angry."
With that comment, the other heroes gave the gamma scientist room as he swelled to enormous size, skin turning green, as he let out a roar, becoming the Hulk.
"Let the war commence!" Loki cackled as his emerald eyes glittering with amusement as the heroes began battle.
The environment changed again, stirring me from rest. The sun lowered in the sky and more trees sprouted from the ground. They grew in a circle around the two of us, the branches creating a sort of roof over top of us. For some reason, dead leaves began falling all around from the trees (a lot of them, duly noted!). I glanced up in confusion at the shriveled leaves. Why were dead leaves going all over the place?
Slowly, out of nowhere, small inklings of blue started entering my vision. I furrowed my eyebrows, rubbing my eyes, but it would not go away.
"Is something wrong?" he asked me, and I blinked a few times.
"I…don't know," I murmured, rubbing my temples.
Suddenly, everything became pitch black, the scenery disappearing, leaving only me and the mysterious princely knight, standing a few feet apart from each other in the dark. Electric blue light flashed in my vision and I grabbed the sides of my head. A low rumbling trembled in my ears and I shook my head back and forth.
"What's wrong, my dear?" he asked me, concerned. Little by little a low roaring began to echo in my head.
looooOOOOOO…
I took a quick, pained glance at the emerald-eyed man.
"AckK!" I doubled over in agony, my knees buckling and falling to the ground.
…KKKkkiiiiiiiiiiii
All of a sudden, his appearance began to contort and shift, going in and out of focus. The flashes of light seemed drawn to him- like fireflies, and the closer they got to him, the more he seemed to distort.
looooooOOOOOOOO…
Natasha noticed offhandedly that Tori's eye began to twitch, and as were her fingers. Her eyebrows were furrowed deeply as well. This was definitely a change from the blank slate look from earlier. The real Loki beside her didn't seem to notice this, though his grin had since disappeared and had been replaced with something of a scowl.
What's going on with her? Natasha wondered, bringing her attention back to fighting off the duplicates.
…KKKKkkiiiiiiiiii
"nnNNYAAAGH! What's going on?!" I screamed, cradling my throbbing head.
The man's skin began to swell and deflate all at once, slowly turning a deep shade of blue. The color traveled up his left side, coloring half of him. When it reached his face, I gasped as his left eye turned red, while his right eye remained green. My eyes widened- but it didn't stop there. One by one, animals surrounded him- a bird, an octopus, a tiger, and a black cat.
Loooo...kkKKiiii…
"W-What?" I stammered through clenched teeth. "That…can't be!" The entire space seemed to throb and twist, as a blinding blue-white light pulsed from my skin. The distorting man pulsed in synchrony with me, and his outfit morphed into that of green, black, and gold leather.
Looo…kiii…
"That's…impossible!" I coughed, brimming tears stinging my eyes and clouding my vision even more.
LOKI!
"Who are you?! What's going on?!"
The man took a few moments, truly disheartened by the turn of events.
"I…am Loki Laufeyson," he replied coolly and slowly. "And you, my dear, are in big trouble."
AND SO LOKI HAS BEEN REVEALED TO OUR YOUNG HEROINE! *flickers lights dramatically* her innate power was protecting its holder- pushing and pushing to reveal Loki to her, and now-
XD hahaahaaa and yes- I did recycle that line from the movie because- well... you just can't change it! XD
Reviews are love everyone, please show it!
