Merry Christmas everyone! Here's a holiday shot! The ending is a little flat, but I really couldn't think of a conclusion :P

I don't own anything.

Holidays

"Alright, we'll be right back guys! Just gotta get the last of the decorations!"

Amy Rose waved excitedly as she finished wrapping her scarlet scarf securely around her neck, matching mittens with white cuffs adorning her hands. Giggling shamelessly, she gripped Sonic's arm and pulled him toward the door. "Come on Sonikku!"

A groan of agitation was heard just as the door closed, leaving a short gust of cool air to briefly flow through the warm atmosphere.

Blaze mentally sighed as she remained perched on the maroon sofa, tail swinging as the silence relieved her ears. Silence was something she bathed in, often the Princess craved the peace and quiet that she so rarely achieved as a royal.

Yet this wasn't quite what she claimed to be a peaceful silence, for there was a tint of awkwardness that drifted in the air.

This was because of the ebony figure that sat parallel to her, red eyes staring off into a blank nothingness, eyes glazed with thought. She glanced toward the dark life-form, in which he snapped out of his glassy stupor to meet her eyes in a silent response.

Tension settled between them as Blaze lifted a mere eyebrow in his direction, in which he responded by breaking the contact and looking elsewhere to occupy his attention.

She resisted the urge to roll her eyes. Whenever she met this black hedgehog, he seemed so fickle.

As a fireplace hummed nearby, the flames writhing with orange, yellow and blue, the lilac feline shifted in her spot, debating whether to sink into the quiet, or break the taut string of muteness that was tied in coiled knots between the two antisocial beings.

Once again she found her gaze drifting toward the door almost longingly. While she preferred to remain solitary, she began to almost wish for Silver or Cream to come soon, though knew it would be unlikely. Silver was taking Cream to buy sprinkles for her Christmas cookies, Rouge was at Angel Island, trying no doubt with swinging hips and batting lashes to convince the stubborn echidna to attend the party to come. Meanwhile, Tikal was busy with a holiday charity event, and would be arriving a little later.

This time, Blaze could not contain the sigh that escaped her lips.

"Am I boring you, Princess?"

Containing her surprise, Blaze turned her head to the source of the deep voice, seeing Shadow resting easily with his hands behind his quills, black lids covering the red iris beneath. She was sure she had never seen him so relaxed.

Feigning indifference, she shrugged nonchalantly. "The quiet is nice, though I must say, the entertainment is lacking." She made a point to arch a brow critically in his direction, to which he merely peered at her through one open eye and chuckled deeply.

"I'm afraid I will leave you disappointed then, for I have no intention of juggling anytime soon."

Was he actually joking around? Despite his vibrating octave, his tone was light, far different from his usual density that pressed against him so great. Although pointing an accusing finger would only bite her back in being a hypocrite.

Deciding to stretch her anxious legs, Blaze stood, casually walking to the assortment of sweets displayed across the cheery table cloth. Everything from apple pie, sugar cookies, to Andy's mint chocolates was arranged neatly amongst the counter tops, along with the main course of gravy, mash potatoes , and meats.

Directing her mind back to the current topic, a smirk played on her lips as she rested against the fridge. "You can't juggle? And here I thought the Ultimate Life Form was more capable of such simple tasks."

She watched as his body stiffened at the prodding of her words, and took silent pleasure in the irate way he sat up and narrowed his ruby eyes at her.

He too stood from his seating, walking forward with steady steps as he placed his hands on the counter top. With a twitch of his lips, he tilted his head. "And here I thought you weren't one to fool around so childishly . I guess we both assumed too soon."

Blaze shifted her hips, crossing her arms. It was strange how much amusement she was beginning to feel from this conversation. A playful banter of words and wit between herself and Shadow the hedgehog was not something she could have ever predicted, but the outcome was exceedingly gratifying.

"Whoever said I couldn't fool around if I wanted too?" The lavender Princess challenged, to which Shadow gave a roll of his eyes and turned with a 'hmph' heading towards his original seating.

A sudden childish urge came about her. Blaze felt above clouds as a sense of giddiness controlled her actions before thought, and before the moment could end, she acted upon it.

Splat!

"..."

She couldn't help it. The Princess of Solanna, Guardian of the Sol Emeralds and Jeweled Scepter, ever composed and stoic...burst out in a fit of laughter.

The sound of her utterance was stifled by the gloved hand that was clutched over her muzzle as she looked upon the humorous sight that had broken her cold barrier.

Shadow stood rigid, eyes wide and blinking with disbelief. Mashed potatoes were splattered in his fur, the back of his head, and part of his back. He turned slowly to the sight of the mirth filled feline, and took in the sight of her girlish giggled and creased eyes, fanned in long black lashes.

As Blaze tried desperately to seize her laughing, for a pain was developing in the pit of her core, her humor was cut off at a sudden turn of events.

A liquid substance came upon her shoulder, dripping into her carefully brushed tail in heated lumps.

Gasping, Blaze stared at the gravy that now stuck in her clothes and hair, her shock disturbed by the sound of deep chortles from across the kitchen.

She looked up to see a wicked grin adorning Shadow's handsome face, a glint in his eyes that spoke of playful inquiry.

A pause came between them before all chaos broke loose.

Blaze made a retaliation of chucking peas to clump in his already starched fur, but Shadow was already moving and targeting the pie to her head.

Their laughter filled the air, as they ran around the kitchen, chasing one another and grabbing at any dish they could use as a weapon. Smug smiles stretched their faces as each twisted and turned out of the firing range from the other.

This continued for several minutes, until a faulty slip was made as they ducked passed one another, and in a heap of limbs, they fell.

Despite the clumsy situation, and the absolute ridiculous behavior she knew they were acting, Blaze continued to laugh as she felt vibration above her, signaling that he too was laughing.

Finally she opened her eyes and slowed her giggles, glancing around as she became aware of the situation at last.

Food covered the walls and floors. Green peas and cooked carrots scattered the carpets, gravy dripped from the counters as dishes were toppled over in disarray.

Startled, Blaze creased her brow. "Uh oh. We made quite the mess...Shadow we should probably..."

She stopped as she finally looked up and met his eyes. It was then that she realized he was practically on top of her, the position was suggestive to say the least, and his crimson eyes were staring down at her with intensity, his face blank yet iris sparkling with something...deep.

What...what is he looking at? I bet I have chicken fat on my face...

The feline continued to lay still, holding her breath in wait. Her mind whirled with thought and confusion as a blush slowly crept its way up her cheeks.

"Blaze..."

It wasn't until someone cleared their throat that both jolted and turned to see...everyone...standing in the doorway.

Amy stood gaping, Rouge stifling her laughter, a smug Knuckles, as the rest shuffled their feet awkwardly.

Sonic scratched his head. "Heh, guess they had a party without us."

This sentence was followed by the cobalt hero's tail being set aflame.
