Three days later, Sokka and Suki were on the deck of a Fire Nation ship.
"It was nice of Zuko to give us a ride," said Suki.
"Yeah," Sokka agreed.
"So, how did you talk Katara into coming to the Fire Nation?" Suki asked.
"It wasn't easy, but I told her Zuko wanted to meet with me about how things have been going in Yu Dao," said Sokka.
"And she believed that?" Suki asked.
"Not at first, but then I told her that he trusted me more than Kori since she tried to kill him. Katara was quite for a while after that. Then I said that even though Aang is working on rebuilding the Air Temples, he could stop in and visit her. After I said that, she agreed to go," Sokka replied.
"Just like that? What happened between her and Aang? I heard they broke up but I hadn't heard why. I thought they got along well and was surprised when I heard they broke up," said Suki.
"Something about not being the last airbender and the world needs him," Sokka replied. Suki looked at him confused. "It didn't make sense at the time, but Aang came the next day and explained that one of the Air Acolytes turned out to be an airbender and although she learned the forms, it was not the same as having a master. He had started teaching her, and he began thinking of both the future and the past. In the end, he said the world needed him and it was his duty to rebuild his nation."
"Wow, I had no idea," said Suki.
"No idea about what?" Katara asked as she came out on deck.
"Er, that I used my trusty boomerang to save us from Combustion Man," said Sokka. Sokka exchanged knowing looks with Suki.
"I thought you told Suki that story already," Katara said as she gave her brother a suspicious look. "Well, anyway, I heard from the helmsman that it shouldn't be too much longer until we arrive in the Fire Nation."
Stay tuned...
