After the feast, Chief Arnook escorted Zuko and Katara to the Spirit Oasis. Katara took off her overcoat.
"Here we are. I'll leave you two to do what you need to do," said Chief Arnook; then he left.
"So, what are you going to do now?" Zuko asked.
"I don't know, but I know I need to talk to Yue," Katara said as she looked at the pond and the koi fish. "I think I'm going to enter the pond."
Katara entered the pond. She stood there for a few minutes as the koi fish circled her. Then she went underwater and into the Spirit World.
"Katara! Katara!" Zuko shouted and he grabbed at the water, but she was gone. Then he went to get Chief Arnook.
"What is this place?" Katara asked. She looked around and noticed that she was in a swap area. She heard the Mystical Monkey in the distance and approached him.
"Hello? I'm sorry to interrupt-" Katara said.
"Ohm. Ohm," said the Mystical Monkey.
Since it didn't look like he was going to say anything helpful Katara turned and noticed a light. She followed it and it turned into Avatar Roku.
"Hello, Katara," said Avatar Roku. Katara bowed.
"Avatar Roku," said Katara.
"I'm sorry about what happened between you and Aang," Roku said.
"It was Aang's decision," said Katara.
"You're right. There is someone who is expecting you," said Roku. Roku led Katara out of the swamp to a clearing.
"Who?" Katara asked. Then Avatar Roku disappeared.
"Wait," said Katara as she looked around for Roku.
Then, Yue came down from the moon.
"Katara, I'm the one who called you hear," said Yue.
"Why? I don't understand. I'm not the Avatar," said Katara.
"I know. I also know you've been having trouble with your bending," said Yue.
"Yes, Zuko suggested that I visit the Moon Spirit, the original waterbender," said Katara.
"It's as the legends say, push and pull the tides. But to do that you must find balance within yourself," said Yue as she faded away.
"Wait," said Katara, but Yue was already gone. "Great, now I'm stuck here and don't know what to do. Maybe I should meditate and think about the chakras." She sat down and began to meditate.
Meanwhile, Zuko caught up to Chief Arnook.
"Katara disappeared," said Zuko.
"What do you mean?" Chief Arnook asked.
"Katara stepped into the pond to meditate and talk with the Moon Spirit, but she was pulled under," said Zuko.
Chief Arnook frowned. Then he said, "It sounds like she was taken to the Spirit World."
"Taken? Then where is her body?" Zuko asked.
"The pond is a portal to the Spirit World. Long ago, Avatar Kuruk was to marry a woman from the Southern Water Tribe at the Spirit Oasis, but he had angered the spirits and she was pulled into the pond and into the Spirit World," said Chief Arnook.
"What happened after that?" Zuko asked.
"It's said that he tried every year on the solstice to find her, but he was never able to bring her back," Chief Arnook replied.
"Thank you for telling me. I'm going to contact Aang, and then I'm going to wait for her return at the Spirit Oasis," said Zuko.
