Chapter 3:

The walk toward the old theater was long, the hold time Alex talked as if we were going to have the time of our lives and all I could do was give him a small smile and nod as he spoke. He knew something was bothering me, but he didn't ask. He knew better. I wouldn't tell him anything was wrong no matter how much he bugged me. That was just how I was.

It wasn't long before we arrived, but the place was run down and it looked as if it hasn't been used for years, but that wasn't what bothered me, the fact that their where no cars, no light, and no people as we walked around was that struck me as odd. "I knew this was a joke." Alex mumbled disappointed.

"We don't know that. It's possible that we came to the wrong place." I said as I started to walk toward the building. "I mean we both suck with directions." But as I started checking the addresses on the ticket again I notice it was correct.

"Maybe we should just go." Alex said disappointed. Before I could answer him, I felt a chill run down my spine. My canines somewhat elongated as I felt a sense of danger lurking somewhere nearby. A strange yet familiar scent filled my nose. I could feel a pair of eyes on me, but I couldn't find where they were. My wolf side wanted to take over, I could feel my eyes getting sharper as I turned around, but all I saw were a pair of long legs. "The fuck?" I mumbled taking a step back and looking up. It wasn't long before my eyes made contact with a man.

"Can I help you?" He asked as he raised his eyebrow at me. "Isn't it rather late for two teens like yourselves to be out and about?" His voice was as deep and croaky as a frog's, but his lips hardly seemed to move. For some reason his voice made me smile, it was weird, I felt safe for some odd reason. I turned my head toward Alex trying to see if he felt the same as me but he was shaking in fear.

"We're here to see a freak show." I said as I walked in front of Alex and stood protectively in front of him. Looking back up to the tall man, I notice my answer seemed to have made him smile. I notice he had black teeth and a few seemed to be missing, his tongue for some reason was dirty shade of yellow. It reminded of a wolf in a way. His scent was odd too, he didn't smell the same as humans normally do. I couldn't quite make what it reminded me of. "My name is Mr. Tall," he said. "I own the Cirque Du Freak."

"That's kind or ironic. I mean you're as tall as a building and your last name is tall." I hear Alex chuckled at his own comment. It seemed he grew some balls with me in front of him to protect him.

"Master Smith, you should know better than to speak your mind. I'm sure you dad would be displeased that you still haven't learned."

"Shut up!' How the hell do you know my last name or what my dad…does…?" He screamed as he pushed me out of the way to get in front of me. I could seem him trembling, but was it fear or anger? I couldn't quite figure out.

"Alex, what's going on? Do you know him?" I asked confused.

"To answer your questions miss Vladimir. Master Smith does know what I'm talking about but he does not know me. I know a lot of things. Some of which would have the both of you cowering in fear. Now the show is about to start. If you wish to see it I suggest you hurry." Mr. Tall said as he glared at Alex, when he shifted his gaze toward me he gave me a soft smile and turned to take his leave.

As Mr. Tall entered the building I looked at Alex and licked my lips nervously. "What do you think we should do?" I asked. He stared back at me and hesitated before replying.

"I think we should go in," he finally said. "We've come this far. It'd be silly to turn back now without knowing for sure." I could tell he was lying, he probably wanted to know why the tall man knew so much about him.

"I agree," I said, nodding. Then I gazed up at the building, it looked like the sort of place you saw in a horror movie, where lots of people go in but no one comes out. "Are you scared?" I asked him.

"No," he said, but I could hear his teeth chattering and knew he was lying. "Are you?" he asked.

"Course not," I said sarcastically. "I always wanted to die at an early age."

I could hear him laughing as I walked forward. "You're scare shitless."

"Haha, no shit. But so are you!"

"Nah huh" He grinned.

"Whatever." We looked at each other and couldn't help but laugh. We knew we were both terrified, but at least we were together. It's not so bad being scared if you're not alone. "Shall we enter?" Alex asked, trying to sound cheerful.

"Do you want an honest answer?"

Alex shook his head as he smile and shortly after he went in first, but as I started to follow I notice a small boy looking at me. He had a dirty suit on, the kind that reminded me of the ones you wear at a funeral. He look in his early teens, but something seemed off about him. "Andrea?" I heard Alex call out. "Did you chicken out or what?"

"Hell no!" I yelled back irritated he would think that and ran towards the door.
