Chapter 6:

The rest of the show was amazing, nothing really dangerous happened until he came out...

He was tall and thin, with very pale skin. His hair style was rather weird, small crop of orange hair on the top of his head and his sides were shaven off. He had a large scar running down his left cheek. It reached to his lips and made it look like his mouth was stretching up the side of his face. In a weird way, he reminded me of the Joker from the dark knight.

The man was dressed in dark-red clothes and carried a small wooden cage, which he set down on the table. When he was set, he turned and faced us. He gave a small bow and softly smiled. He looked even scarier when he smiled and his scent… I smelled it before, I knew I didn't know him, but it was strange. He smelled like blood. But he looked human, as I turned my head to get a better look at him I notice he was looking back at me. My blue eyes, turned yellow as if waiting for him to attack, to provoke me in anyway. I didn't know why, but this man terrified me. My gut was telling me to run, that nothing good can come out of staying here. But I ignored it and gave him a shaky smile, which made him grin.

"My name is Larten Crepsley." His voice was deep, and it brought shivers down my spine. I felt like I needed to leave. I stopped paying attention to him and tried to gather my thoughts, something wasn't right. I needed to get out. But before I could get up I heard someone clearing his throat and I was brought out of my thoughts, and then the man; Larten, opened the door of the cage that he had brought with him upon entering the stage.

For a few seconds nothing happened, but then the largest spider I had ever seen crawled out. It was green, purple and red, with long hairy legs and a big fat body. I wasn't afraid of spiders, but this one looked pretty fucking ugly. The spider walked forward slowly. Then its legs bent and it lowered its body, as though waiting for a treat. "Madam Octa has been with me for several years," Mr. Crepsley said. "She lives far longer than ordinary spiders. The monk who sold her to me said some of her kind can live to be twenty or thirty years old. While he was speaking, a young boy led a goat onto the stage. It was making a frightened bleating noise and kept trying to run. But the boy held it steady.

I have seen him before. He was the same boy that was looking at me when I entered the building. In the light he looked far scarier. He was wearing a suit. They type you would take to a funeral, but it was messy and somewhat covered in dirt. He had messy dark hair and as he's green eyes met my golden ones, I could see it; the hunger in his eyes.

"Before I continue, I will ask all of you to be quite. You see this spider is highly dangerous and will not hesitate to kill you or me. So I will suggest you all try to be quite no matter what happens."

As he finish talking he took out a small flute from his pocket and began playing, as in a trance the spider begin to move toward the goat. I could smell the fear radiating from the animal, it was making me paranoid. For some reason I felt myself feel the same fear that the animal felt, as the melody continued my nervousness rose. Each second seem to be an eternity, but slowly the spider made its way toward the goat. The crowed watch in anticipation wondering what would happen. But the stench of death seemed to fill the stage with each passing second, but before the spider made contact with the goat a body jumped down from the top of the stage and at the moment I knew. I knew I should have ran when I had the chance.

It didn't take long before the audience reacted and screamed. I could hear the people on the back moving, probably trying to leave. They knew this wasn't part of the act, but I stayed on my seat looking the man. He was strange in ways I could not begin to describe, for starters he was purple and his scent reeked of blood.

"I finally found you!" He chuckled as he locked eyes with me. "I didn't think you would actually come here, the boy did his job well."

"What is the meaning of this, Joseph?" I heard Mr. Tall's voice boom from the back of the stage.

A frown fell upon the face of the purple-ish man as he turned his face and glared at the tall circus owner. "I am not here for you Hibernius nor that pitiful vampire, so do not get involved. I am well aware this is neutral grounds."

As Mr. Tall spoke again, I notice the kid on the stage grabbed the spider and left the stage, the goat cried out for help as it tried to escape but the kid had tied it against the table that once held the cage of the spider. "If you are well aware of the rules then what brings you here?"

The man grin with pride but before he could speak again, Alex chipped in. "I brought her here just like you wanted me to master."

The man; Joseph turned away from the owner and smiled. He had a smile that brought shivers down my spine. "You did well Alex, come here for your reward."

My best friend grin from ear to ear as he heard this, he didn't look at me as he got up from his chair. "Alex..." I mumbled as I reached to grab his arm to hold him back, but before my fingers could make contact with his flesh he smacked my hand away. At that moment I could feel my world begin to crumble. "Don't go." I pleaded as my eyes began to burn. I didn't want to believe that my best friend…my only friend…was involved with this. But he simply scowled at me and walked away.

It didn't take long for him to reach the stage. "Hold still child and I shall turn you into one of us." Joseph said as he walked behind Alex and placed his hands to the sides of his head. Alex was beaming with pride. But the smile that was once in on the purple man's lips quickly turned to a sadistic grin as he gave one quick motion of his wrists and a loud cracking sound echoed in the room. Not even a second later Alex lifeless body hit the ground, almost as that was the signal in a race the crowed went in to a full panic.
