Chapter 8:

Slowly I opened my eyes only to notice I was no longer in the theater, I was on a bed, I couldn't remember being carried - though I sure as hell didn't do any walking. The last thing I remember was the performer breathing out this toxic foul smelling thing at me and then…nothing.

"What shall we do with her Hibernius? We cannot let her return to her home, she will no longer be safe there. But if we bring her along who is to say what might happen to her." I hear someone say, I couldn't pin point where in the room they were at but I could smell them. There were three people in here with me. The circus owner, the performer Mr. Crepsley, and someone else. His smell was similar to the performers but I don't remember his scent.

"The last time the prophecy appeared she put an end to the war between the clans, does her appearance mean the war Mr. Tiny foretold is going to start soon?" A voice I never heard of asked worriedly.

"I am not sure, I cannot see her future. It is uncertain why Desmon interfered and made her known to the vampaneze now." Mr. Tall replied.

"This is news that I will need to bring to the princes. It's only a matter of time before the vampaneze will find her again."

"Aye Gavner, we should let the princes decide what to do with her. That is, if that is alright with you Hibernius." As Mr. Crepsley spoke, I could hear him walking toward something or someone.

It pissed me off how they were going to let random people decide my fate. It was my life. My dad told me once I was born a tool, that people would use me for their own gain. That was the life I was given, I never understood what he meant. I always figure it was because I was a freak of nature. Half human, half wolf. I was a hybrid and people would use me. Because that's what humans do, they use everything they can to gain what they want. Like when Alex used me… He sold me out to that purple monster thing and betrayed me, thought his fate was not one I would have wished on anyone. The more I thought about everything the angrier I got.

"Why is it up to him?" I growled as I got up off the bed. "Why are you letting him decide what to do with me? I am my own person, I don't need this…this freakishly tall stranger decide what he will do with me."

"How long have you been listening to our conversation?" Mr. Tall asked.

"Long enough" I growled back. "You guys are insane. What the hell is a vampaneze, why the hell are you talking about a prophecy, and why the fuck would any prince care what happens to me." Everything was just too much to take, nothing they said has made any sense to me.

"This complicates everything." Mr. Tall sighed as he placed his fingers on his temples and began massaging it. "Sit down by me and I'll explain everything." I could tell he was stressed out and by the tone of voice slightly worried about something. "First things first…" He started as he turned his head and looked at me. "…you are the prophecy."

"The what?"

"The prophecy." The man named Gavner pitched in. "Long ago vampires were at war with the vampaneze." Already confused, I tried to speak but the burly man raised his hand to stop me and continued. "The vampaneze were at one time the original vampires. Then when we were introduced with the role of Vampire Princes and generals. These princes were to lead and regulate the Vampires and create order over the race. However, a portion of the vampires didn't like to be told that they could no longer kill when they fed upon humans causing these Vampires to break away and form the Vampaneze. Eventually Mr. Tiny gave the vampaneze something called the coffin of fire that would find the vampaneze one true leader in a war between the clans. That stirred up trouble, we were giving the prophecy that when the vampaneze lord came to being, he would rage war against the vampire and we would be wiped out. But he said we had some hope, a hybrid would come and aid us in our time of trouble and save the clan. We were skeptical at first and began killing any vampaneze we found and just tried to prevent it from happening, but that rage a war between the clans. Then a person like you appeared and quickly the war came to an end. But just as quickly as she came, she vanish. Mr. Tiny said a hybrid would reappear when the time came that the vampaneze lord would rise and the prophecy would pick a clan to aid in the war."

I was bored out of my mind, I just got a shitty history lesson, I was tired, and I wanted the get the hell out of this place, but the man Gavner; he was rather cute. It was pretty much the only reason I stayed listening. "And you guys assume I'm this so call prophecy?"

"Not assume." Mr. Tall replied. "I have known about your existing shortly after your birth. Your father brought you here after he killed your mother seeking protection. I have been keeping an eye on you ever since."

"I…"This was all too much to hear at once. I was speechless. I'm supposed to fight in a war? I'm supposed to save vampires? This can't be true. I was just about to finish high school now I'm suppose so just start saving people. What the fuck. "You guys are insane. I'm out of here." I sneered as I walked past Hibernius and out the door of the caravan I was in. There was no way anything they said was real, it couldn't be. Not wanting to deal with everything, I started to run. But the more I ran the more I began thinking about it all. Deep inside I knew it was true. I knew I was running away from my problems. But I wasn't ready for this, I decide my fate. Not them.
