Five Years Later…

Arendelle, Nordic Kingdom

It was just a normal, average full-moon night. Ever since her reveal to her parents five years ago, Elsa has learned how to make snow on command with more efficiency. Yes, sometimes, the ice and snow went out of control but her father was always there to contain it. She loved her dad, Jack Frost. He's the reason why she had these wonderful powers in the first place. Now, her younger sister, Anna, pestered her about using her magic. But Elsa didn't care; she loved to see her five-year-old smile when a snowflake flutters around her small hands.

She felt a heavy plop on her bed, waking her up from her dream. Well, her mother and father considered them as nightmares but Elsa has gotten so used to them, that they don't frighten her anymore. She opened one eye to see her sister grinning down on her.

"Psst! Psst, Elsa! Elsa, wake up!"

Elsa rolled her eye and closed it. They snapped back open when she felt her sister jump and down on her bed like a trampoline. "Anna!"

"Wake up, wake up, wake up!" Anna sing-songed.

"Go back to bed…" Elsa said in a yawn. "It's dark outside and the moon's still up…"

"But I wanna play…!" Anna complained. She landed flat on her back, squishing Elsa below her as she said dramatically, "The skies awake, so—"

"You're awake. I know, I know…just not right now." Elsa buried her face back into her pillow and tried to go back to sleep.

"But I'm awake and you're awake so we have to go play!"

Elisa sighed and rolled her sister off of her bed. "Go play yourself!"

Anna made a rough, "Oof!" when she landed on the wood floor. She sighed and clicked her feet together. An idea popped in her head. She sprang back up to her feet and whispered in Elsa's ear, "Do you wanna build a snowman?"

Elsa looked over her shoulder and chuckled lightly. Her sister just loved making snow men. She rose up to a sitting possession and stretched. "Go get your boots…"

"YAY!" Anna exclaimed.

Elsa pressed her index finger to her lips. "Sh! You'll wake up Mama and Papa!"

"Sorry!" Anna whispered. She wiggled on her boots and grabbed her sister's hand, dragging her through the halls of the castle and down the stairs. "Come on, come on, Elsa!"

"Not so loud!" Elsa reminded her. "Mama and Papa are still sound asleep!" she and her sister stopped in front of the ball room doors. This was Elsa's favorite room in the castle. This was where she first learned of her powers thanks to the voice and shadow that woke her up that night and led her here five years ago. It was also where her mom and dad found out about her powers, as well. She and her dad would come here every other day and make snow together then throw snowballs at her mom and Anna. There were so memories in this room.

Anna struggled to pull open the doors, since her five year old body didn't have the proper strength. But she soon pried them open and dragged her sister inside the room. "Do the magic! Do the magic!"

"Okay." Elsa did what she always did for her sister. She swirled her hands around each other as thin lines of frost began to spark from her hands. Soon, snowflakes began to form. With a grunt, she threw the ball of snow and frost to the ceiling, making it burst and make it snow in the ball room. It made her smile to see her little sister squeal in excitement and dance around the falling ice crystals, trying to catch them on her tongue. Anna kicked the gathering snow into the air and danced through the dust. Elsa created a small snow ball and placed it on the ground. Without Anna looking, since she was too preoccupied with the falling snow, she flicked her hands at it. She watched a shadow crawl towards her and go to the snowball. "Make me a snowman, please!" she whispered. The shadow consumed the snowball and swirled off of the ground, taking snow with it. It broke away to reveal a snowman, complete with buttons, a nose, and stick arms. "Thank you." The shadow swirled around her and went back into the darkness of the ballroom. Right on time when the shadow left, Anna turned to face Elsa. Her eyes brightened happily and she grinned largely. In her goofy voice, Elsa said, "My name is Olaf. And I like warm hugs!"

"I love you, Olaf!" Anna ran up to the snowman and hugged it. "I love your snowmen, Elsa!"

"Yeah…thanks." Elsa looked into the shadows of the ballroom and smiled at them.

Anna cocked her head to the side. "Who are you smiling at, Elsa?"

"Huh? Oh, no one." She tensed up when her sister started to waddle towards the shadows. Quickly, Elsa made an ice path and gripped onto her sister. She took her onto the ice and they slid on it as if they were ice skating. Elsa smiled at Anna's laughter. She made a large snowbank in front of their path and extended it to the top. When they got to the top, Elsa sat down with Anna between her legs and slid down it.

Anna got up to her feet like lightning and jump up. "Catch me!"

Elsa giggled and made another snowbank for her sister to land on. "Hang on!"

Anna jumped again.

Elsa made another snowbank. "Gotcha!"

Anna started to jump faster. "Again, again!" The snowbanks began to get higher and higher.

Elsa started to fall behind with her magic to make a cushion for her sister to land on. "Anna, wait! Slow down!" But her sister didn't listen to her. She jumped again. Elsa yelped and slipped on the ice forming under her feet. As her arms flailed, a stream of ice shot out of her palm. It hit Anna straight on the head. "Anna!" Elsa screamed. She looked at the shadows and yelled, "Catch her!"

The shadows shot out of the darkness and swirled around Anna, making her float in the air. Slowly, she was taken down to the ice and snow covered floor. Elsa rushed to her sister's side and gathered the unconscious Anna in her arms. She watched in fear when a lock of Anna's orange locks turned snow white. "No, Anna!" She felt her sister turn as cold as the ice below them. Elsa started to shake in complete fear and screamed on the top of her lungs, "MAMA! PAPA!"

Spikes of ice shot out of the ground around them at Elsa's scream. The room shook and rough ice rippled throughout the room, making sharper and deadly ice spikes point at them. The shadows that were dancing around Elsa froze in place and exploded into a sculpture of sparkling ice dusted with black inside it forming into a shape that seemed to look like a claw going to grab Elsa and Anna.

Elsa's head shot up when she heard banging on the ballroom doors. The ice sealed them shut. It cracked with each bang until it shattered into a million pieces. Behind the door were their parents, Jack and Rapunzel.

"Anna!" Rapunzel ran into the room and kneeled down to them. She took her in her arms and rapidly started to wrap her golden hair around her child.

Jack helped up the shaking Elsa. "Elsa…what happened in here?"

Through tears, Elsa cried, "I…I…I don't know…!" she clinged onto her father's leg as her sobs shook her. She blocked out her mother singing her song that made her hair glow.

Jack got down on one knee so he could hug his oldest daughter. "Yeah…it's okay, Elsa…Anna's going to be okay…your mother can heal anything." He looked up and he swallowed a gasp, he tried his hardest not to freeze in fear.

"Just look at what we can do!" a voice echoed in his head as he gazed at the sculpture that was above Rapunzel and Anna. "What goes together better than cold and dark?"

His heart, and Elsa's, nearly stopped when Rapunzel cried, "It's not working! She's as cold as ice, Jack! She won't open her eyes! I can't…I can't heal her!"
