Betcha thought I'd forgotten about this one, huh? Nope. Life just got in the way (how rude). So thank you for waiting patiently, and I hope you enjoy the final installment of Coincidences. I'm still new to fluff and Spanna, so combining them was a challenge - one I enjoyed but will not be repeating any time soon. So enjoy, and leave me a review to let me know what you think.

At first Hanna was too shocked to do anything. Her mind stumbled to a stop and her breathing cut off abruptly, and she was suddenly very aware that Spencer Hastings was kissing her. Spencer, the girl who had tried for years to teach her the difference between similes and metaphors. Spencer, who refused to try on any of the cute skirts or dresses Hanna pointed out to her in the stores, for fear of 'looking like a college dropout who couldn't even make it as a stripper'. Spencer, with her soft lips and her sparkling eyes and her nimble hands.
Spencer was kissing her.
And suddenly, Hanna was kissing her back. It was tentative at first, because Hanna couldn't believe this was happening, but as they both let go of their reservations it became more passionate, fuelled by pent-up desire and unexpressed emotion. When it finally ended, Spencer's cheeks were flushed pink and there was a shy smile playing around her lips, the kind of smile that made Hanna want to kiss her.
"S-sorry," Spencer said, shifting backward and tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. She seemed more vulnerable now, like she was still waiting for Hanna to react, still half-expecting Hanna to kick her out. Like that was going to happen.
"Why are you apologizing?" Hanna fixed her eyes on Spencer's face, even though she was dying to look at her properly, to take in every feature, every curve of her body and every line on her skin.
Spencer lifted one shoulder up in a half-shrug. "For… that. I didn't mean to… I mean I shouldn't have…"
"Hey." Hanna reached out, letting her hand brush Spencer's cheek. "In case you didn't notice, I wasn't complaining."
Spencer blinked. "So you didn't… you didn't mind?"
"Mind?" Hanna echoed, laughing. Spencer ducked her head, and Hanna realized she thought she was mocking her. She softened her tone and said haltingly, "I… Spencer, that was amazing."
"It… was?" Spencer's eyes flicked up to Hanna, the smile back on her face now, more disbelieving than shy.
"Of course," Hanna said, and she cocked an eyebrow up as she added, "But then again, I wouldn't expect anything less from a Hastings."
Spencer giggled, and then covered her mouth with her hand. Hanna reached out, moving Spencer's hand away from her mouth, and the two girls shared a smile that turned into laughter. All the things Hanna had been worrying about lately faded away, her internal vision clouding until all she could see was Spencer. And it was like she was seeing her in a new light, seeing things that she hadn't considered before – hadn't let herself consider before. Because until today, it had never occurred to her that Spencer might have liked her too.
As the laughter faded away, Hanna glanced down and realized she was still holding Spencer's hand. She ran her thumb along the back of Spencer's hand, hardly daring to look at the other girl's face in case reality came rushing back. She hadn't realized how much she'd wanted exactly this, and now she'd do anything to keep it.
Spencer twitched, as if she was considering pulling her hand away, but then she just twisted her hand around so she could intertwine her fingers with Hanna's. A few beats of silence passed, and then Hanna moved closer, still holding onto her hand. She looked up at Spencer's face, catching her eye, making sure they were in the same place. They were.
And one look was enough to make it clear to both of them that they wanted to explore this – whatever it was. Hanna's day up until now had been average, maybe even boring, but it had taken such a wild turn that if this didn't turn out to be a dream, this was shaping up to be one of the best days of her life.
Hanna looked down at their hands, perfectly intertwined, and she found herself thinking all sorts of poetic things about synchronicity and blossoming flowers and soul mates, and then Spencer kissed her again and she stopped thinking about anything. Her eyes snapped closed and her free hand drifted up to tangle in Spencer's hair, and she felt like everything was falling into place.
The kiss became deeper and more energetic, and soon it wasn't enough to stay stationary. Spencer started reaching for the zipper on Hanna's dress, and Hanna worked at the buttons of Spencer's blouse, and all the while Hanna could still feel the alcohol buzzing through her veins. But it wasn't uncomfortable, unlike numerous other times which she would rather not remember (and some times she couldn't remember, which proved her point even more so). It had lowered her inhibitions just enough to let her follow her heart.
As things became more heated, Hanna felt like her heart might explode from sheer joy. Never in her wildest dreams had she imagined a scenario like this, but even if she had, she knew that this moment would have smashed all her expectations. Nothing she could have imagined would ever be better than the electricity that shot between them as her hand brushed Spencer's shoulder, or the low moan that Spencer let out as Hanna's lips worked their way down her neck. Nothing could ever compare to this, and nothing would ever beat it. This was, in essence, perfection.
But it started to slow down after a while, their hands lingering and their kisses becoming longer but less frequent, and Hanna felt an undercurrent of something. Eventually she pulled away, and Spencer looked at her, adjusting the bra strap that had fallen halfway down her shoulder and giving her a puzzled smile.
"Is everything okay?" Spencer asked.
"Yeah," Hanna said quickly. She let her fingers brush along her own lips, remembering the feeling of Spencer kissing her, and she let out a contented sigh. But then she remembered the slight uneasiness she'd been feeling, and she forced herself to let her words break through the peaceful silence. "It's just… I mean, are you sure we should be doing this?"
Spencer balked. "Do you not want to?"
"No!" Hanna cried. "I want to. God, of course I want to."
"Good." Spencer leaned back a bit, evidently relieved. "I know what you mean, though. This is big. I don't think we should get into it without thinking it through."
Hanna bit back a laugh. Typical Spencer, planning everything down to the last detail. For a second there she'd just followed her heart, but now it was time to think things through. "So what are our options then?"
Spencer's hand drifted across Hanna's knees, sending shivers down her spine. "Either we let this run its course and see what develops, or we decide to let it end tonight. Just call it a crazy drunken kiss and nothing more."
"It was more than a kiss," Hanna said, hoping Spencer caught her drift. It wasn't just a kiss, or just a couple of kisses. It was a connection. "But you're right. So how do we decide?"
She expected Spencer to start making an alphabetized lists of pros and cons, maybe in French (Spencer had a habit of accidentally slipping into French when she was drunk), but instead Spencer fixed her gaze on something on the desk, and then turned back to Hanna. "How about we ask the universe?"
Hanna blinked, completely missing her train of thought, and she didn't catch on until Spencer darted over to the desk, snatched something up, and then came back to the bed. She held out her hand, and Hanna saw a quarter resting in her palm.
"Heads we call it off now," Hanna said.
"Tails we see where it takes us," Spencer added.
Then, with surprisingly deliberate movements considering her level of intoxication, she balanced the coin on her thumb and then tossed it into the air. Their future hung in the balance as the coin flipped in the air, tumbling down to land on Spencer's hand again. Before Hanna even looked at it, she knew what it was going to be. Because there are no coincidences in life - just fate. And things had a way of working out in the end.
