Author's Notes: Man, it's been 4 months since I last updated. Well, many unusual things that I've done (Marvel stuff, other responsibilities, etc.). Also, there is the writer's block crap that kills me. Still, I keep on reading fictions for my pastime and thanks to demonwithasoul I have my motivation back to continue and also gathering new ideas. And I was thinking of doing a Fairy Tail/Marvel crossover which explores the mystic side of the Marvel universe and not just using Avengers, etc. I'm planning to write a piece about my suggestions and thoughts on my deviantart profile and post the link so I can inspire other FT fanfiction writers to do so. I'm saying this because the mystic Marvel universe is very awesome.
But still, by the time I will make a new story, I wouldn't abandon this one. Still, I love the Devil May Cry franchise and DmC is my most loved action game this year so aside from playing it, I also watched a lot of videos (particularly Vergil's Downfall) so it still keeps my interest.
And now I present you this chapter.
I don't own Fairy Tail and DmC: Devil May Cry. They belong to their respective owners.
Chapter 10: An Angel
"Lucia..." Kagura mentioned the angel's name again.
"Yes!" The little girl exclaimed. "She's more than just an angel. She's a powerful warrior, and she strikes down her foes!"
Kagura sweatdropped. "Would I care?"
The little girl stuck a tongue due to Kagura's comment. "You're mean."
Lucia chuckled. "Well, does she bother you?"
"Well, kind of." Kagura answered, feeling irritated.
"By the way, this little girl is my friend." Lucia approached the little girl as she introduced her to Kagura. "This is Mika."
"Nice to meet you, nee-chan." Mika greeted her.
"N-neechan?!" Kagura blushes in embarrassment when she was called that. "Hey, we're not sisters!"
"Oh, come on! You're such a meanie!" Mika whined. But suddenly, Kagura's reaction was a chuckle, then laughter.
"You're really funny when you make faces like that!" Kagura laughed.
"Hmph!" Mika pouted.
Kagura stopped laughing and instead, she formed a smile on her lips as she approached Mika. She kneeled and tried to talk to her.
"Come on. To be honest, that is the first time someone called me that. In my world, everyone sees me as a powerful mage and a leader, but only my friends called me 'Kagura-chan;' and you look up to me as a sister? Wow, I never saw that coming."
As Mika turned around, she noticed that the smile Kagura etched was replaced with sorrow.
"Um, you have a sad face..." Mika told her.
Kagura realized it, so she shook it off. "Oh, I-it's nothing! Something that I remember..."
"Oh..." Mika looked down.
Kagura patted Mika's head with her hand. "That's ok. I'm fine. Mika, right?"
Mika nodded.
The swordswoman introduced herself. "My name is Kagura Mikazuchi, nice to meet you."
Mika responded with an embrace. "Nice to meet you, neechan!"
Kagura was surprised when Mika hugged her. Since the time she went into this hellhole, she have never felt such comfort. There is even hope, after all. Kagura returned the favour, as she hugged the little girl.
Lucia loved the whole commotion and she noticed that Kagura looked on her. Kagura stood up and Mika went to Lucia's side. For Kagura, this is the opportunity to find the answers and maybe, Lucia can answer the questions.
"I need answers." Kagura started.
"I know that." The angel understood. "There is a reason why I have saved you from the demonic shadow you've faced earlier."
"How did you know that?" Kagura asked. "Don't you mean-?"
"Yes, I saw everything. I was watching when you fought the demonic shadow." Lucia confirmed.
"The Shadow Erza..." Kagura mumbled.
Noticing, Lucia tried to ask the Mermaid Heel mage. "This Erza, is she your friend?"
"Yes," Kagura nodded. "I've met her during the Grand Magic Games, back in my world. I used to hate her because she keeps on defending Jellal, my brother's killer. Until I found out the whole truth..."
"I see." Lucia nodded. "She was your savior back then."
"Huh?" Kagura was surprised on Lucia's statement. "Wait, how do you know?"
"This is the right time that I would explain things that you should know. The rest of it will be told to you later on." Lucia said.
"Go on." Kagura agreed.
Lucia nodded as she began. "I am an angel who walks into this demonic realm, along with this little girl. But I was sent here for a purpose..."
Kagura is all ears on what will the angel tell her.
"But before that, it seems that you need answers."
"Yes." Kagura nodded. "What is this place?"
"Glad that you asked." Lucia approves. "You are inside of a ruined house. But I made a special barrier and even this kind of dimension in order to hide from the vicious demons."
"We're hiding from them?" Kagura asked. And Lucia nodded in reply.
The angel continued."I should tell you... that they are coming for you. The said demonic phantom led the chase." Kagura realized that she was talking about the Phantom Erza.
Kagura is now determined. "I must not sit here. I need to face them!"
"Wait, you're not ready yet." The angel told Kagura.
"That's bullcrap! What's the point of sitting here and doing nothing?" Kagura berated.
"I know." Lucia understands what Kagura felt but she continued. "Do you have some sudden dizziness?"
Kagura remembered something as Lucia stated it. "Yes, I felt some pain in my head. And I saw... visions."
"And who do you see in those visions?" Lucia inquired.
In a soft voice, Kagura replied. "Vergil..."
"I see." Lucia nodded in thought. 'She met one of the twin sons of the demon king Sparda. If she gets her hands on Vergil, all of the realms will be in danger.'
"You know him?" the Mermaid Heel mage tried to ask.
"I'll tell you about that when the right time comes." Lucia told Kagura to be patient. The latter realized that she should know about her condition.
Kagura nodded in response. "Alright, then."
The angel continued. "The very reason why you are experience such headache... was because I given you that power. But it seems that both of your body and soul hard a hard time to come up with the power that I gave you."
"You mean... those visions are the cause of my dizziness...?" Kagura was bit loss for words.
Lucia nodded. "Those who possess that kind of power should have an unwavering will. I know that the spirit of a true warrior lives inside you. But if you can make past through it, there is a possibility that you can unlock your true potential. I have seen it because you're the only human capable of doing it."
What Kagura have heard from the silver-haired angel is unbelievable. She is from Earthland and a powerful wizard. But there is more than that: she is also human. She asked herself: 'Is it possible to have a different kind of power, even aside from being a mage in my world?' She was unsure. She wanted to know how.
But something, or someone, ringed her thoughts. And it was her phantom self.
"Yes. All you need... is power."
'Power? Power for what?' She wondered.
"Setting that aside," Kagura decided to shrug it off from now. "Why did you give me such power?"
And Lucia made an answer. "That's the only thing that I gave it to you, in order to help Vergil."
"That's why I wanna to get out of here and help him!" Kagura is impatient as of now.
"I know." the angel answered. "There is another reason why I'm here. And like you and Vergil, I'm also trapped in this twisted realm."
"And what is that?" Kagura inquired.
"There is a powerful evil entity who reigns in this realm. And she will make a step of conquering any of them, including the human world; and if possible, your world. If that happens, other worlds will be in danger." Lucia told the Earthland mage.
"Who are you talking about? Are you saying that there is someone who is behind all this and wants to conquer any world?" Kagura inquired.
"Indeed. She is known as... Angelos." Lucia said.
"Angelos?" Kagura finally heard the name.
"Angelos is a powerful Nephilim. And she is the ruler of this realm." Lucia said.
"Nephilim?" For Kagura, it was a new term for her.
"It seems I need to tell you about it. Alright, then." Lucia now began to explain as Kagura is still paying attention. "The Nephilim are a powerful race. What makes them powerful is that they both possessed the power of angels and demons. And yet, they have the power to travel into different worlds. Vergil is one of them. And so does Angelos. But the latter is more cruel and dangerous. Whatever she is planning, she needs to be stopped."
"But you're an angel, right? I'm sure you can defeat her. I'll help you out." Kagura said.
She shook off her head, citing an answer of 'no'. "Even I am an angel; my chances of defeating a Nephilim are slim. That is why you need to help Vergil, because only the two of you can stop her. And worse, your own shadows."
"Our... shadows?" Kagura was surprised a bit. "Wait, does that mean-"
"Indeed." Lucia confirmed. "Angelos has the power to steal and manipulate the shadow of every being, which it represents the darker self. She took your shadows and made them her powerful pawns. And worse, they could be more of them."
Until Kagura realized that the ghostly apparition of herself was her own shadow. One who represents everything bad about her; one who is blinded by revenge. But everything has changed around her and doesn't want to go back. For Kagura, this means that she will face her own demons and save Vergil.
"I'll go." Kagura's response is a determined look.
Lucia was amused on Kagura's determination. 'It seems that she is now ready.' "Alright, I'll send you back to the realm. You need to be powerful for the battles to come. Once you defeat a shadow, there is a possibility that you can gain a soul from that shadow."
"A soul..."
"Yes. There are souls trapped in those shadows. That is where you get your power from." Lucia explained.
With a snap of Lucia fingers, Kagura was surrounded by a sphere of angelic energy. Kagura looked around the sphere that engulfed her. Then she faced the angel and her companion.
"Will I going to be alright?" Kagura tried to ask.
"I believe, you can." Lucia replied.
Kagura nodded. And then, she disappeared.
"Um, Lucia?" The little girl known as Mika looked up to the angel.
"What is it, Mika?"
"I'm... a bit worried." Lucia frowned
Then Lucia looked into the little girl and touched the girl's right shoulder. "Mika, you should not."
"How can you be so sure?" the little girl
Lucia then looked up. And she answered, "I know that she can do it. All we have to do right now… is to have faith."
Author's Notes: So this is the end of chapter 10. I felt it was rushed and short, but it also introduces my three OCs.
Lucia - in case you people are wondering, the Lucia here in the story was based more from Dante's Inferno. Anyways, Dante's Inferno is very much like God of War in terms of gameplay but it's more of an eerie and dark representation of Dante Aligehri's Divine Comedy. Above all, she was based from Saint Lucia/Lucy of Syracuse who is a Christian martyr who eyes being gouged out during the persecution of the Christians in the Middle Ages. She is also the patron saint of the blind and also the patron saint of Syracuse. In the game itself, she is a powerful angel and a DLC character, serving as the guardian angel of Dante.
Mika – a little girl who was lost in the demonic realm and became Lucia's companion. She is shrouded in mystery as she had Kagura's likeness.
Angelos – the main villain in this story. I can consider her as a 'Dark Nephilim' since she had angel and demon powers, her demonic side is dominant. She is the ruler of the demonic realm where both Kagura and Vergil trapped. And she can even use the dark side of every individual and use it for her own personal ends. Her intentions for Vergil are unknown. And she craves for dominion over other worlds. I actually based her from Greek mythology; Angelos is one of the children of Zeus and Hera yet she serves as a ruler of the Underworld, alongside Hades. So I made her being a 'Dark Nephilim' made sense.
So there you have it, peeps. I'll try my best to continue this story. Sorry if it lasted for 4 months of waiting but on updating for the next chapter, I can't even make promises. Again, I'll just try my best.
Read and review, and I'll see you guys later.
