The Return to the Digital World

Lupine Laser: I seriously wanted to abandon this story (SORRY!) but DD Leader Dark Heart of Water was kind enough to write the next chapter so here it is! Thanks goes to all the reviewers, followers, favouriters and especially DD! I do not own Digimon heheh ;)

Mercurymon was in-charge of reflecting any non-physical attacks from KendoGarurumon while the rest were to try and attack him. Unfortunately, none of their attacks could faze him. If anything, their attacks made KendoGarurumon even more irritated than before. The battle raged on, one versus seven with Takuya resting from the impact and Kouichi not willing to fight his brother.

Chapter 36: Cleansing the Darkness

Normal POV

"Lupine Laser!"

Mercurymon gladly teleported in front of Calmaramon and deflected the attack back at KendoGarurumon only to yell in pain and fall backwards as the beast digimon of light lunged at him.

"Howling Star!"

As soon as Yutaka de-digivolved, Korikakumon narrowed his eyes into a death glare, "Frozen Arrowheads!"

The braids of hair held KendoGarurumon tightly for a brief moment, but then he managed to manoeuvre himself around so that he could aim another intensified blast of light, "Lupine Laser!"

Unfortunately, Gigasmon was behind MetalKabuterimon, who was behind Korikakumon and KendoGarurumon had aimed the blast so that Korikakkumon crashed into MetalKabuterimon who landed on Gigasmon, forcing all three to de-digivolve.

"Come on, Kouji," Calmaramon pleaded. "We're your friends! Your family!"

"I don't have friends," KendoGarurumon growled. "And what does family have to do with anything? My master gave me an order, and that order was to destroy you. That is what I will do."

Calmaramon glanced around briefly; the only ones that were left fit for battle were her, Zoe, Kouichi and-

"Howling Star!"

…Not Masaki.

Wincing slightly as the warrior of wood fell to the ground, she took a deep breath, "You brought this on yourself, Kouji! Acid Ink!"

For once, the attack actually landed on KendoGarurumon – who howled in pain as the acid ate away at his armour.

"Now!" Calmaramon called as Zephyrmon nodded.

"Plasma Pods!"

Although KendoGarurumon was in pain from Calmaramon's attack, he was not too out of it to dodge the attack and send back one of his own, "Lupine Laser!"

The attack hit Zephyrmon at the small of her back, causing her to crumple and de-digivolve, unable to move as KendoGarurumon raised his paw only to be thrown back as Calmaramon jumped into the air.

"Titanic Tempest!"

"Nice try, cousin," KendoGarurumon smirked, "but you'll have to do better than that."

Seeing the light form at the edges of his mouth, Calmaramon lunged out of the way just in time. The blast of light destroyed eighteen trees, several Pipismon and caused a large crater to form.

"Kouichi? I could really use your help right now," Calmaramon stated nervously.

Rhihimon simply slowly shook his head, causing KendoGarurumon to smirk and turn his attention to the former, "Hello, brother."

Rhihimon flinched as KendoGarurumon took a step towards him only to be blocked by Calmaramon, "Move."

"No way," Calmaramon snapped in retaliation, holding out her arms as though to make a wall between the twins.

"I never did have any patience for you, Aimi," KendoGarurumon snarled, haunches tensing. "Move before I make you. I need to get to my wimpy, pathetic brother."

Before either he or Calmaramon could do anything however, Zoe stood up, stalked towards him, raised her hand and slapped him. Hard.

"Ugh," KendoGarurumon shook his head, recognition flashing in his topaz eyes for a brief moment. "Z-Zoe?"

Then the moment passed and he shook his head angrily, "Lupine Laser!"

The attack hit Calmaramon – who had leapt in front of Zoe to protect her – before Kouichi finally reacted.

"Darkness Bluster!" he yelled, firing a blast of darkness at his brother, throwing him back into a tree.

"Your powers may be slightly magnified here," KendoGarurumon growled, "but mine are still treble yours even as my Beast Spirit."

"Then why don't you change to your Human Spirit?" Rhihimon's eyes narrowed. "The Kouji I know would never fight an opponent if he had an unfair advantage!"

"The Kouji… you know?" once again, KendoGarurumon faltered slightly.

This was exactly the chance that Rhihimon needed, "I'm sorry, Kouji! Darkness Bluster!"

The darkness was perfectly aimed at KendoGarurumon's chest – where his armour was slightly weaker – and caused the warrior of light to howl in pain again as his fractal code appeared.

Immediately, everyone could see what was wrong; along with his spirits, there was a small third figure in the data hosting the symbol of Lillithmon on it.

Quickly, Rhihimon snatched it and threw it into the air before materialising his staff and destroying the figure.

Kouji's POV

Barely conscious, I groaned as I fell to the ground, my skin feeling hot and clammy.

I also felt vulnerable; as though something had been taken away… Suddenly my eyes flashed open.

Lillithmon. The table. Fire. Pain. Fighting my friends.

It all came flooding back to me as I shakily stood up to find everyone staring at me.

Slowly, Aimi took a step towards me, "Kouji?"

I gulped and nodded, flinching as her eyes narrowed into a death glare that put mine to shame and stalked towards me.

A moment later, my cheek was red as my back hit a tree behind me, my cousin's fist clenched.

Even Yutaka's eyes widened at that, and I suspected that he wanted to do something similar.

Then she threw her arms around my neck, "Don't you ever do that to us again!"

I shakily nodded, returning the hug before releasing her and turning to Kouichi – who de-digivolved, "Kouichi… I-" I paused, avoiding his eyes. "I didn't…"

Fortunately, he knew what I was trying to say and nodded, smiling softly, "It wasn't your fault."

I nodded as well, for once my emotions easy to read; guilt.

Eventually, everyone smiled at me, Zoe pulling me into a rib-cracking hug.

But the happiness was short-lived for a figure materialised in front of us, causing Kouichi and I to stiffen as a smirk slowly appeared on her pale face.

"Lillithmon…"
