AN: Nothing really note-worthy, except Tsuna is becoming more and more like Kuroko? I think. But any utattemita fans? (Let's become friends!)
Song: Reboot by JimmyThumb-P feat. Hatsune Miku, Megurine Luka, Samune Zimi.
Disclaimer: I don't own anything. Except OCs.
Thinking back on it, Tsuna was almost certain that this would be the outcome of this situation, but he had been foolishly hoping that this wouldn't occur.
Tsuna had invited Mochida over the day that he knew Hibari was going to come (since Hibari had a habit of arriving on Wednesdays.) That wasn't to say that he didn't invite Mochida over when Hibari didn't come, but he especially wanted Mochida over the day that Hibari was certain to arrive.
At first, it had been only him and Mochida talking about his taste in music; Tsuna had decided to spare him from his Vocaloids, and played covers of Vocaloid songs instead. Mochida had seemed to like it enough at first, until he played a certain cover.
"Why do you like the guy that sounds like a girl?"
Tsuna didn't say the real reason, instead saying, "He's a good singer, and I like his voice."
(Had he said that they were friends, he probably would have been forced to explain that he does cover songs, and that he does upload them on Nico Nico Douga. He still suspected that Hibari knew, or that Hibari suspected this.)
Mochida didn't say anything, but Tsuna remembered his complaint yesterday.
"He sounds too robotic."
Tsuna knew that to be true; his friend did sometimes overuse autotune, but it wasn't too bad. (It wasn't that his friend needed it—he was good at singing, so Tsuna also didn't know why he bothered with autotune.) He also knew that Mochida liked the other utaites that he had played beforehand, so it wasn't as if Mochida had completely blown it off, and that made Tsuna ecstatic.
Mochida had also made a comment teasingly, but made it sound off-handed. "I bet if you sang, you'd sound really girly."
"Just because I look like a girl doesn't mean that I'll sound like a girl," Tsuna retorted.
Even as he said that, Tsuna knew that Mochida had hit the mark. He was oftentimes mistaken for a girl when he sang higher notes, which had prompted his fans, and fans of utattemitas in general, to call him a "ryouseirui."
And then Hibari arrived. Hibari had promptly ignored Mochida, and Mochida didn't seem like he wanted to really talk to Hibari. (Hibari wasn't the most sociable person nor was he the easiest to get along with.)
"H-Hibari-san, this is Mochida-san."
Hibari didn't even reply, just shooting Tsuna an almost murderous look that said, 'Are you implying I don't know?'
Tsuna could only laugh awkwardly as he tried to avoid that gaze.
He tried to coax Hibari into talking, into saying anything, but Hibari didn't even glance towards Tsuna. Mochida tried to help out here and there by answering questions, and Tsuna was grateful for his help, even though it seemed as if Mochida didn't care for Hibari.
(He might have muttered, "At least Mochida-san cares enough…")
While they were trying to drag Hibari into the conversation, Tsuna could see that Hibari's attention was on Mochida, and that he was glaring at Mochida. He could also sense that Mochida was close to snapping, so he tried to calm them down.
"Hibari-san, Mochida-san, is there anything you'd like to do?" As soon as he said that, Tsuna knew that he had said something stupid.
Laughing nervously, Tsuna tried to amend what he said. "Is there anything you'd like to do with me that's relatively harmless?"
Hibari seemed to be horrified by the idea, the only hint to that being the slight downturn of his lips, while Mochida was staring at him as if he had grown another head.
After that, Hibari turned to glare at Mochida for some reason, and Tsuna couldn't figure out why. Mochida, however, seemed to know, and seemed to reciprocate his feelings, but he didn't openly glare at him.
Tsuna couldn't handle the tension, and so decided to send them home. "Um, guys, let's meet up tomorrow," he said meekly as they both directed their glares (lessened, but nonetheless scary) to him.
Hibari just left with the parting words being, "Meet me tomorrow morning."
Tsuna couldn't help but pale at the thought. Hibari was surely angry, and he would be pushing Tsuna harder than normal, and he had assumed that to be impossible. (It was a dark time that Tsuna would rather not remember, not that he remembered anything but near unbearable pain.)
Mochida was about to leave when Tsuna called out to him. "What did you think of Hibari-san?"
Mochida paused before saying, "Still scary, but he reminds me of a cat," and then he left.
Tsuna was trying not to laugh at that, and failed.
He could imagine Hibari being like a cat, doing his own thing, only coming when it was beneficial for him. Hibari had no loyalty to anyone but himself, much like a cat would abandon its owner if the owner was horrible. However, the bonds that he did form were precious, and having his support meant a lot.
Once the amusement wore off, Tsuna worried about his two friends. He really wanted them to get along, as he really had no one other than them.
With a sigh, he knew that he should be more worried about what Hibari wanted tomorrow morning instead of forcing the two to be friends, but he couldn't.
Tsuna knew that they had almost nothing in common; if anything, they both liked to fight, but that was about it. He could try to get them to participate in a mock fight, but he knew that Hibari wouldn't hold back and that Mochida wasn't stupid enough to agree (not like him.)
Tsuna wasn't sure why, but it was very important for both Hibari and Mochida to get along. It was just an instinctual feeling. However, he wouldn't force them to be friends if they didn't want to be.
Even then, that didn't stop him from wanting to them to get along.
Notes:
- Nico Nico Douga, also known as NND: I think I explained this, but it's the Japanese equivalent of YouTube. Most Vocaloid songs are uploaded here.
- Covers: Tsuna is referring to the Utaite fandom, where people cover songs, mostly anime and Vocaloid songs. It usually has a form of "Utattemita"/"Utaimashita" ("I tried to sing"/"I sang") in the title. I don't know how I feel about having actual utaites in here by name... so I didn't do it this time (but the utaite mentioned was Mafumafu, or some version of him, if I go with making my own.)
- Since I made Tsuna an utaite, I'm debating as to whether I want to have him be like Amatsuki, asking for no reprints of anything, or if I want him to be lax and encourage it. Not important, but if I ever do a one-shot for this fic, it would center around his utattemita activity, so thoughts?
Reviews to Reply to:
To Everyone: I just wanted to say thank you everyone for reviewing! I mean, I don't really say anything (for reasons), but it really means a lot to me! (And I read them all.)
AnimeWarrioress 359: I believe that the last chapter was more filler-y than I would like (as a reader), and after so long, so I apologize for that. That's part of the reason why I had the next two chapters out much more quickly than that chapter.
