Hello, my lovely readers. I am sorry about the mess up last week. My sink exploded and then my brain followed. I hope you enjoy this chapter and I'll see you at the bottom!

Chapter 19: Roommates from Hell

As if it wasn't bad enough that Damon had to go high school spending his weekend with The Original Whack Jobs. It was driving Damon completely out of his mind. He had wakened up pleasantly enough because Elena wanted morning sex. That was quite a nice way to wake up. Finally, forcing himself out of bed, he had walked downstairs to find three Originals and one baby vampire in the kitchen.

"Have a pancake, Gilbert." Kol called, smacking him in the face with his breakfast which was right out of the pan.

"Ow," Damon yelled. Jerking the thing off. Elena took it and began to nibble on it.

"Rude, Kol." Rebekah admonished her brother. "They are Nik's guests. Try using the manners Elijah instilled in us." Kol began to make faces at her before he flipped a pancake on top of her head. "You little wanker." Rebekah shouted, turning around to punch her brother in the gut.

"Kol. Rebekah." Elijah frowned at his younger siblings. "You will have to excuse them. They know not what they do."

"Lijah speaks the bible." Kol exclaimed happily. "Speaking of biblical, Caroline, I do believe you have not been keeping my brother up at night. What's wrong, darling? Scared of a little Original love? You can give me a spin for starters and work your way up to the wannabe hybrid model?"

Suddenly Kol was thrown over the kitchen table and out the window. "Brilliant. Nik's up." Rebekah said, drily buttering a croissant and ignoring Klaus.

For her part, Caroline hadn't had much to say in the last couple of days. She would simply pace the house restlessly. Drink a blood bag. Go to school. Call her Mom. Go back to her room with Klaus. And pretend to be asleep when he came in. It didn't seem right to Damon as he watched her curled up in chair with a blood bag.

"Hey, Lena. You think we should take Care out for a ride or something today? She's been in this house with these four," he indicated the Originals, "a little bit too much."

Kol was climbing back through the window when Elena nodded. "Yeah, taking a break from this house would probably be a good idea." She walked over to Caroline. "Hey, Care. We're going to go on a trip. Want to come with us?"

Staring up at Elena, Caroline blinked. "Do you think I can go without killing anyone?"

"Sure," Elena reassured the baby vampire as Caroline unfurled her body and walked over to throw away her trash.

"I need to get dressed." Walking away from them, Caroline walked up the stairs.

"Do not try to run, Damon." Klaus warned. "Until I know whether or not you are useless to me I will track you down."

"Gee, I hadn't thought of that." Damon snapped, shaking his head. "You know, I don't know what you did to Blondie but I think you broke her."

Scowling, Klaus stared at Damon. "I have not laid a hand on her. Nor have I compelled her. Nor have I threatened her. She is here of her own free will. I am simply teaching her how to deal with being a newborn."

"You told me to feed on people." Caroline said dully as she walked into the room. Not making eye contact with Klaus, she stood next to Elena. "Can we leave now?"

Elena nodded. "Yup." Turning, she was about to head out the door when Klaus came over to them.

"I will come with you." Klaus told them, rather that asking, as he strode out of the entryway.

Damon sighed. 'Was there anywhere they could go without the guy insisting on accompanying them? Damon was surprised Klaus wasn't still going to school with them. "Whatever," he muttered.

Damon climbed into the back of the car with Elena while Caroline reluctantly got in the front with Klaus. "So, where are we going, Klaus?" Damon asked the psychopath at the wheel.

"We're going to The Falls." Klaus informed them turning to gaze at Caroline whose eyes lit up as she turned to him.

"Really?" Caroline asked hopefully.

"Yes, love," Klaus replied. He seemed to be happy for the moment and Damon just wanted to heave him through the windshield. This was just so stupid.

The morning after Caroline was turned, Klaus had begun to interrogate Damon on what he meant when he said that he was Damon Salvatore. How long had he been in this world? When had he discovered this? What else did he know? Did he know about Klaus' plans? How much did he know? He just kept talking until Damon had asked him if he ever got tired of the sound of his own voice.

That earned him being knocked out. When he woke up, Caroline had been in the room yelling and breaking anything expensive she could lay her hands on. Elena had also been there tending to Damon's black eye. Once Rebekah had come into the room with an angry looking Elijah, who had just been undaggered, things just got worse.

Damon had watched as all the Original siblings had begun to yell at each other. There were taunts, threats and objects that flew through the air. Finally, siblings began to fly through the air. Then, Caroline had ripped off her daylight ring and gone for a walk in the sunshine which caused Klaus to leap out a window, drag her back inside and lock her in their room. And that was Tuesday.

The rest of the week was not nearly that dramatic except for Klaus' fits of temper only to be matched by Rebekah's. Kol had gotten drunk and started hitting on Elena and Caroline, when she was allowed out of her room. Then Caroline had tried to stake herself and Klaus had strapped her to the bed. "For her own good," he said.

That had caused Rebekah to become involved. Her remedy was to compel Caroline to stop trying to hurt herself. That had been fine until they found out she was on vervain and had started looking up werewolves on the internet trying to find one in the area who would stop by and bite her. There went her phone privileges for a month.

"Damon. Damon, we're here." Elena called into his ear.

"Huh? Oh, great. It's time for the double date from hell to begin." Damon shuddered as he got out of the car behind Elena. Looking over his shoulder, he saw Klaus pulling something out of the truck. "What are you doin' back there, Klaus? Planning on storing our bodies in the truck on the drive home?" Feeling sick in his stomach Damon, did not find his joke terribly amusing even when Elena began to laugh.

Slamming the hood down, Klaus smiled at him. "Well, if you would prefer to ride back there on the way home don't let me stop you." Klaus walked away with what looked like a couple of huge stakes held together with a piece of metal. Damon's eyebrows went up when Klaus began to position the thing and then set a canvas on it.

"Does he fancy himself some kind of artist or what?" Damon quipped, watching Caroline walk over to the bridge and lean against the railing.

"Ignore them," Elena told him, moving his chin so that he was staring her in the eye. Leaning forward, Elena wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him. Forgetting about the master villain and the newborn, he pressed Elena to him.

"Not on top of my car." Klaus called to them, not looking up as he began to draw a portrait of Caroline staring down at The Falls.

Elena rolled her eyes and then began to pull Damon away from their companions for the day. Walking toward a wooded area, she pulled her dress over her head and Damon happily took his own clothes off. "So, is that why you wanted to come here, Miss Salvatore?" Damon asked. "You wanted to seduce me?"

Elena shook her head. "I don't think it would take much." Grabbing Damon's neck, she hopped upward, wrapping her body around him.

"Do you have any idea how much I like you," Damon asked, pressing his mouth to her ear.

"Only like?" Elena teased as he laid her down on the grass. "You're in love with the other Elena, aren't you? The one in your world."

Damon looked down at the Elena in his arms. He didn't want to lie to her. "Yes. Yes, I am. But you're not completely unlike her. I mean I like to think that Lena and I aren't that different in spite of the fact I live a much wilder life and take a lot more chances. She'll come around eventually. But until then …"

"You have me." Elena said stroking his face before pulling his mouth to hers. She didn't want this Damon to ever leave but she wondered if she could find happiness with Damon Gilbert. After all this was his body they were using. The things that this Damon had told her made her question her way of seeing her world.

Rolling on top of Damon, Elena placed her hands in his hair. "Why do you love her?"

"Because she' nothing like her doppelgänger, Katherine Pierce, my sire. Elena is kind and warm. She let me in and she hasn't given up on me. Well, let me clarify that statement. She didn't until I tried to kill her brother, Jeremy. Then things got a little ugly. Not to mention the whole dating my brother, Stefan, thing is kind of a setback."

"But you still have hope?" Elena asked, moving above him.

Damon ran his hand up her back wondering if being with Elena Gilbert would be like this. "Yeah. I didn't before, but since I've been here, with you, I do have hope for us."

"Good," Elena replied.

An hour later they pulled their clothes back on to find Klaus had almost finished his portrait and Caroline was still looking into the water. Damon wondered what was so interesting to her when she took her daylight ring off along with her heels, top and jeans. Klaus was so focused on his work he didn't seem to notice. "What the hell is she doing?" Damon asked Elena, who had had her eyes closed with her head resting on his shoulder. Her lids flicked open and she watched Caroline hop onto the railing and over it into The Falls.

"Oh. That is not a good idea." Elena whispered as Caroline appeared running toward the woods. Before either she or Damon could move Klaus jumped into The Falls and was chasing after her. They stood watching and waiting, when something darted back into the water. Then Klaus dragged a screaming, kicking Caroline back over the railing.

Dragging, Caroline away from the bridge Klaus fell to his knees. "What in the bloody hell was that?" He gasped, pushing Caroline's soaking wet hair out of her face.

"That was me trying to get away from you." Caroline yelled at him sobbing.

"And that would be what Lena of my world and I are like. Maybe a little less melodramatic." Damon informed Elena, who was watching the argument intently.

"I wish I had popcorn," Elena told him sitting down. "If I had known we were going to have a show on this date I would have brought some."

"Caroline," Klaus grabbed the baby vampire's face between his hands. "You have to stop this nonsense."

"No!" Caroline yelled back at him, attempting to pull away from him.

"What do I have to do to make you stop?" Klaus asked as Caroline got to her feet and tried to walk away.

"You could try not being you. You are a horrible being. You don't care about anyone. Even your own family hates you," Caroline yelled at Klaus, who moved away from her, his expression darkening.

"Yes. Well, then I suppose I should leave you to your threesome with the Gilbert boy." Klaus snapped before he picked up the canvas and smashed it in two and threw it into The Falls. He began to stomp away. Then he turned suddenly marching up to Caroline and placed his face in front of hers.

Damon was pleasantly surprised she didn't back down even if she was standing in her underwear. "Mark my words, Caroline, I will kill him." He pointed at Damon. "I will become a hybrid and you will come to regret choosing to be on his side rather than mine."

Klaus began to stomp off when Caroline began to scream in pain. That was when Elena noticed she wasn't wearing her daylight ring. It had been cloudy just a minute ago. Klaus turned back, setting his jaw before he raced back over pulling Caroline to him and leapt back over the railing.

"Whoa. That is crazy." Damon said. "I wonder if the Klaus and Caroline of my world would be that crazy together?"

"They haven't met yet?" Elena asked him, watching Klaus climbing back over the railing.

Damon shook his head. "Nah. Not that I know of. And I don't think Caroline is that sneaky. She's kind of a blabber mouth." Damon began to smirk as Klaus held Caroline firmly to him before falling on his back. "You know, maybe we should give them some privacy?" he whispered to Elena.

"Why? It's just getting interesting." Elena whispered back as she watched the Original's chest moving up and down with unneeded breath. He had Caroline flattened to his chest and she seemed to be feeling a bit less aggressive. "You're going to make me leave during the good part?"

Damon looked her in the eye. "Oh, I can think of several ways to make it up to you." Wiggling his eyebrows, he got up and ran back toward their spot. Elena chased after him with a laugh.

If they had stayed put they would have seen Caroline glaring at Klaus. "Damon Gilbert, has been my friend since we were in diapers. I love him, Klaus. Nothing will ever change that. Not his running off in the woods to go do some skanky vampire, who is now my friend, nor my feelings for you. So, if you kill him you lose me."

Klaus wrapped his hands around her arms. "Caroline, I do not have a choice about this. My mother placed this curse on me a thousand years ago. The only way to break it is by draining the blood of the doppelgänger."

"What's wrong with being a vampire? You've been one for a thousand years. What's so great about being a hybrid? Do you get special parking privledges or something?" Caroline snapped at him. Placing her hands on his chest she attempted to push herself upward and away from him.

Klaus simply rolled them over and pinned her down. "If I break the curse I can create a family of hybrids. Others like me." He tried to explain to her.

Caroline frowned. "It sound more like you want to be a father than you want to make a bunch of monsters. Besides you can make plenty of ordinary vampires. I just don't get this whole thing."

"Vampires can't procreate, Caroline." Klaus told her slowly trying to not lose his temper.

"Have you ever tried?" Caroline asked him.

"Tried what, love?" Klaus asked, frowning deeply.

"Tried to procreate, duh?" Caroline replied, shaking her head.

Klaus began to laugh. "Sweetheart, I have lived for a thousand years and never have I heard of a vampire who could make a child."

"There is always a first time for everything," Caroline replied. "Besides you said your mother cursed you, right, so what if she could do a spell so you make, you know, little yous? Then would you still want to go around killing my friends?" Biting her lower lip, Caroline stared up at Klaus hopefully.

Klaus stared down at her. "You do raise an interesting question, Miss Forbes."

"Thank you," Caroline replied with a bright smile. Maybe she could get through to him after all.

"Only problem is that my mother has been in a sealed coffin for over a thousand years and I'm not sure even I could get it open." Adding silently Klaus thought, 'And I killed her. Therefore she will not want to do me any type of favor.' However, looking down at Caroline, he did not want to spoil her happiness.

"And if my mother were able to perform this miracle, who would the mother of my hypothetical children be, love?" Klaus asked, smiling at Caroline. Before she could answer, he leaned down and pressed his lips to hers. He was surprised to feel Caroline peeling his shirt over his head and then unzipping his pants.

"It never hurts to practice." Caroline whispered against his lips. Nothing could have made the moment better.

"Ah look, they made up." Elena exclaimed and Klaus tried his best to block out the presence of the other couple. This was becoming a bit much even for someone who had done almost everything known to man.

MysticGirl200: I'm not sure when the ritual will begin. I will try to let you know when I figure it out.

Okay, so I hope you like the new twists. I'm still figuring out how to end the story and I have some ideas for a follow-up story. I need to stop writing sequels but I can't help myself.
