Quick side notes:
Please, check out Klaroline-Lovegames stories.
Also, if you have the time, energy and do not feel like strangling me for beginning a new story, without keeping up with others. (Ha ha, oh, I suck). Please, check out The Last Resort, more Klaroline, Delena, Kennett, Jerbekah and other pairings.
Now, I order all of you, my lovely minions, who I love with equal passion to check out my first joint effort with WeasleysGroupie, "Just Visiting" because we have NO reviews. Why? I ask you? Why? My lovely and hardworking people. Why we put our little hearts and souls and equal amounts of crazy into this little baby of a story. It fell on the floor and now it's crying. Oh, the horror. Mother weeps of poor little baby story and pets its head. Oh, yes, and it has OCs but they will do anything in the name of Klaroline.
Hello, my lovely readers. This is the last chapter before we switch back to see what Damon and Elena Gilbert are up to. Without further ado…
Chapter 21: Dancing to Her Own Beat
Dancing. She was whirling and twirling. Spin this way. Move your hips that way. Grow heady with the pounding music. There's nothing but the music. Elena Salvatore felt alive as she bounced and swayed between the bodies of Klaus Mikaelson and Caroline Forbes. Being this close to her favorite baby vampire and the world's most deadly vampire felt invigorating. What would Stef think if he could see me right now?
At the same moment that Elena had that thought her cell began to vibrate rhythmically in her pocket like it wanted to join the party. Klaus slid his hand into the pocket of her jeans and withdrew it with a grin. Elena had to admit that maybe she was a little bit tipsy. But then again Caroline was leaning against her back and giggling like crazy while Klaus opened the phone.
"You have reached Elena Salvatore's phone. We're sorry but she's having a three way on the dance floor. If you would like to leave a message, please, speak after the beep. Beep." Klaus intoned while smirking down at Elena, who began to laugh hysterically. She never thought Klaus could be this fun. Now, this was the guy she would have partied with before she met her little Damon.
"Elena, I need to talk to you. NOW!" Stefan yelled into the phone as Klaus pulled the phone away from his ear and winced.
"Too loud. Here you go, love. Don't be too long. We're not done with you." Klaus called while sliding his arms around Caroline possessively. Elena grinned as she made her way to the far side of the room. Hanging up on Stefan, she began to text him back. It was one thing to get on the dance floor with the crazed hybrid and his lady love. It was an entirely different thing to allow him to listen to her private conversation with her baby bro.
What's up, Steffy?
Lena
You need to come to the hospital.
Stefan
Why?
Lena
Trouble. Damon. Get here. Now.
Stef
Elena pocketed her phone feeling very sober. Walking back over to the couple on the dance floor with the same tipsy smile she had worn moments before, Elena addressed them. "Hey, Stefan needs help. He got peanut butter in his hair and seems to think it will stay there forever. So, I have to go home early." She leaned over and kissed Caroline on the mouth briefly stunning the couple. Then she leaned up on tip toe and kissed Klaus. "Have a good night." She told them before sauntering out of the club.
When Elena was sure that Caroline and Klaus were probably too busy trying to figure out what had just happened, Elena was running toward her car. Hopping in the vehicle, she sped as quickly as possible to the hospital. She stopped in the bathroom to wipe her mouth.
'Ugh, I can't believe I kissed Klaus. How many drinks did I have?' Elena wondered as she hurried down the hallway to find Stefan, who looked pissed. Kol was there looking unhappy. Jeremy was sitting and staring at his hands.
"Where are Damon, Matt and Tyler?" Elena demanded instantly as she walked into the waiting room.
"Matt was compelled to go home. Tyler is chained up in the Lockwood cellar," Stefan told her before looking at his feet.
"And where is Damon?" Elena snapped, feeling her body tense up. She walked away from the group slowly. Not taking the time to listen to what else her brother had to say, she began to wander down the hall.
When Elena saw Damon in one of the rooms, she sighed. Walking into the room, she looked down at him. He seemed so peaceful in his sleep. Feeling her eyes fill with tears for some reason she couldn't quite understand, she reached out and brushed his hair out of his face. His skin felt cool to her touch. Sitting down beside him, she took his hand in hers and pressed her face to his chest.
Hearing nothing, she felt the tears began to roll down her cheeks, "Damon. Damon, I love you. I love you so much," Elena whispered, feeling her body convulse. Looking up at him, she stroked his face. "At least this way Klaus can't hurt you." Elena brought her lips to Damon's in a soft kiss.
Forcing herself to get up, Elena began to walk away from the bed when a hand grabbed her arm. Her eyes widened in surprise as she turned to look down at Damon, who was staring up at her. "Oh," was all Elena could say before she threw herself on the bed. Damon pulled her face to his and kissed her passionately. "I thought you were dead," Elena whispered.
"Stefan, fed me his blood before I died. So, I guess the whole "me as a human experiment," is over. Time for the real fun to begin," Damon told her while rubbing her back. Elena hadn't even realized that she was still crying.
"Remind me not to let you go out on anymore boys' nights," Elena whispered into his ear.
"Yeah. That would probably be a good idea," Damon retorted with a grin.
"So, we have your little homecoming thing tomorrow night," Elena reminded Damon as she eased the blankets off him.
"Screw that," Damon replied while he pulled her jeans off. "I have to feed soon. Or I'll expire. I'm not sure Damon Gilbert will like that too much if he ever gets back here."
"Yes, you will have to feed. Should I go get Jeremy?" Elena asked, before pressing her mouth to his and enjoying the feel of not having to control herself with the new baby vampire.
Damon groaned, "Nope, I think feeding off the kid tonight wouldn't be very nice given that he just saw his brother die and all."
Moving to bite his shoulder lightly, Elena grinned, "Who said I was nice?"
Damon shook his head. "Not me. But seriously, Lena, I'll find someone. Remember it's a hospital. There are lots of people around here."
"And now whose being mean? All these people are sick or here to visit the sick," Elena replied before dismounting and grabbing her jeans. "I guess I'll have to go compel you a nurse."
"Thanks babe. I think I'll take a little rest while you do that," Damon replied with a grin. He closed his eyes and laid back.
Twelve hours later:
Elena was in her bedroom with her girlfriends getting ready for homecoming. "Come now, Bekah. Is it the cotillion?" Elena yelled at the elder vampires. Rebekah came out of the bathroom in a short white dress. Smirking, Elena looked her over. "Make it a bit longer and I would suspect someone was going to the chapel to get mar-ried." She sang, holding her hands together and rolling her eyes toward the ceiling.
"Oh, you are so very funny, Salvatore." Rebekah snapped.
Elena rolled her eyes and stuck out her tongue. Bonnie was already ready in navy blue number that was almost black and Caroline was wearing blue, "Because that was what Klaus fancied her in."
"Are we going? Or are you waiting for the next turn of the century?" Elena asked heading for the door.
"Why are you such a bitch?" Caroline muttered staring at her shoes.
Bonnie looked at the others not sure what to say. "So, is it wrong that I have two dates tonight?"
Everyone else looked at her. None of them had heard this news before. "You're going with them both?" Rebekah questioned Bonnie her eyes wide.
Bonnie nodded, blushing deeply. "Well, Kol didn't have date so Jeremy and I said we would let him play third wheel. He can pick someone up at the dance, right?"
"Or you will be dancing until you can't stand up." Caroline retorted with a wide grin.
Rebekah grabbed Elena by the arm, watching Bonnie and Caroline exit the room first. "How is Damon handling the transition?"
Elena's eyebrows rose, "Kol told you?" Rebekah nodded. "And Klaus?
"No," Rebekah replied shaking her head. "Not that it will remain a secret for long. Kol is afraid of what Klaus will do if he finds out. So, Kol plans on disappearing tonight during the dance."
"And you're telling me, why?" Elena asked.
"Because I think you and Damon should go as well," Rebekah informed her.
Shaking her head, Elena smirked. "Me? Run? I don't think so." She tried to leave the room to find Rebekah blocking her path.
"Elena, I like to think that we have become friends and I do not have many of those… Therefore I am telling you, if you value your life or you value Damon's life, you will run. Tonight and you will never come back." Stepping aside Rebekah gave Elena a parting smile before walking out of the room.
Squaring her shoulders, Elena walked out of the room. She would not run. She was a coward like Dominic. Whatever Klaus would do to her then he could do it. If he wanted to torture her or kill her, then let him. There was no way she would run knowing that Klaus would hunt her down and, in the meantime, lay waste to the town of Mystic Falls. This was her town and her fight. Even if it meant she would die to tonight then so be it.
Walking out to her Camaro, Elena opened the door and got into the driver's seat. Rebekah got into the passenger seat while Bonnie and Caroline hopped in the back. They were meeting their dates in the parking lot. Driving quickly down the empty street, Elena was ready for whatever would come next.
When she pulled into the parking lot, Kol seemed relaxed as he chatted with Damon. Klaus was watching them pull up with that knowing smile on his face. Elena resisted the urge to try to run him over as Caroline jumped out of the car before it had come to a full stop. Jeremy kept playing with his tie. Then there was her little brother. The one person she wanted to bundle up and send anywhere but here. Stef was not built for the war that was to come.
Drawing in a deep breathe, Elena forced a wide smile before she approached the group of males. "Oh, ho, someone looks like a trollop." Kol called with a wide grin staring at Elena's micro mini blood red dress which plunged in the back. She had added a pair of black boots which reached her mid-thigh. It seemed like a good occasion for hooker boots to make a comeback.
"You look gorgeous," Damon whispered extending his arm. Elena grinned, ignoring Kol's lewd commentary as they made their way inside the school and walked to the gym. Stepping onto the dance floor with her date, Elena was happy her heart could not beat because she was sure that Klaus would hear it pounding from across the room.
Bonnie was laughing at something Kol was saying to Jeremy. Tyler walked in with a girl Elena didn't know, followed by Matt. She couldn't help but look at all the young people. Closing her eyes she cringed at the thought of the heads rolling around the room. If only she could just turn off her emotions but she knew she couldn't do that right now.
"Let's hear it for this year's homecoming King and Queen. Damon Gilbert and Caroline Forbes." Everyone cheered as Damon pulled away from Elena and walked over to Caroline. Elena moved across the room toward Klaus, watching as Kol and Rebekah made their way off the dance floor. Slipping her phone out Elena texted Rebekah quickly.
Get the others out of here. Now.
Then she added a short list.
S, J, B, M, T, C and D.
Please,
Lena
Shoving her phone into her pocket, Elena stopped in front of Klaus. "Well Mr. Mikaelson, care to dance with me since our dates are otherwise occupied?" Smiling up at Klaus, Elena forced her fear down as she felt the other vampire take her hand and slide an arm around her back. Rebekah approached the people listed one at a time escorting them out the back door.
Elena tried to prevent Klaus from seeing the people departing by engaging him in a discussion of anything she thought would keep his mouth running. Klaus loved to talk and show off. When she knew she was losing his interest and Caroline and Damon were the next people on the list, she forced down the desire to scream.
Leaning forward on her tiptoes Elena kissed Klaus again. He pulled away quickly. "Elena, you know you are lovely but I am very much with Caroline. And I do not believe that Damon would be very pleased with how you are conducting yourself."
Elena forced herself to blush. "I'm so sorry. I must have been reading things wrong." Forcing a laugh Elena took a step back. "I'm going to go to the bathroom." Hurrying away, Elena knew she only had seconds before Klaus noticed that the others were missing. She should have had them leave Caroline. 'Damn it,' when she got in the hall she ran as quickly as possible into the parking lot and hopped into her car.
Revving the engine she sped out of the parking lot keeping an eye out for anyone suspicious. She had never thought she would be on the run. This was the last thing that should have ever happened. She should turn around now. Her phone vibrated in her pocket. Flipping it open she saw the instructions.
Parking the car, Elena ran toward the area in which they were to meet. Standing off to the side was Elijah Mikaelson beside a private plane. "Good evening, Miss Salvatore." He called, waiting for Elena to board the plane, before he got on himself.
Elena was relieved to see Damon, Stefan, Jeremy, Bonnie, Caroline, Matt, Tyler, Kol and Rebekah were already there. Coming over to sit beside Damon, she took his hand and squeezed it. Looking over at Caroline who was slumped over in her seat, Elena felt slightly guilty.
Caroline came to as the plane began to take off. "Hey, you broke my neck!" she snapped at Damon who shrugged.
"Yeah, Blondie, and I'd do it again," Damon informed her folding his arms over his chest.
"But you're a human. How could you do that?" Caroline asked just as it dawned on her. "Oh, Damon." Damon shrugged. "Things happen. Vampires get made. Life goes on… or not."
"Where are we going?" Bonnie questioned the group.
"To Europe," Elijah told her. "Then we will go our separate ways with new identities." He started handing out information for everyone - passports, language books, etc.
"What?" Caroline's eyes widened. "Why does it sound like we're running from something? Who are we running from? Where is Klaus?"
"Oh, Caroline, silly girl." Rebekah shook her head. "Nikalus is my brother. I know him better than you could imagine. He would have taken Damon one day and made himself into a hybrid and broken your heart. Now that he can't, he will want to revenge himself on everyone in his path."
Caroline gaped at her. "You don't know that for sure. He was going to work on the having babies thing with me. He wasn't going to hurt Damon. He loves me. I'm calling him right now. You'll see." Attempting to pull out her phone Caroline found that it was gone.
"Caroline, he's never going to stop," Stefan told her placing a hand on her shoulder.
"I don't care what you think!" Caroline shouted.
Rebekah had had enough and grabbed Caroline by the chin. "You never met anyone by the name of Niklaus Mikaelson. You do not love him. He does not exist. Do you understand me?" Sitting back, Rebekah felt satisfied when Caroline nodded and then sat back in her seat.
"Where are we going?" Caroline whispered as she stared out the window dully.
"We're going back to Europe," Rebekah told her. "You'll like it there."
Elena frowned watching the scene. She did not like the idea that Rebekah could so easily compel Caroline to forget Klaus. What if someone did that to her? She gripped Damon's hand tightly pressing their hands on top of his leg. He looked at her and she could tell he was thinking the same thing.
Hours later they disembarked at Heathrow. "Kol, Jeremy and Bonnie. You will be going to Japan," Elijah informed them. They hugged their friends and then walked away. How Kol had compelled Jeremy to speak Japanese was unnerving to Elena. "Stefan and Rebekah, you be going to Australia." There were more good-byes and Elena hoped she would see her brother again.
Matt was going to France. Tyler to India. Elijah would be going to Bulgaria to meet an old friend. Damon, Elena and Caroline were going to Greece. Walking toward the terminal where their flight waited for them Elena looked up at Damon. "We're doing the right thing, right?"
"When do we ever do the right thing?" Damon asked with crooked grin before kissing the top of her head. Nodding, Elena sighed as they turned in their tickets and boarded their flight. She could only hope that this plan worked because if Klaus found them there was no telling the damage he would inflict. Elena just hoped that their counterparts were doing better in their world.
I hope you liked the chapter. Next week we will find out how things are going in the other world and who was at Elena's door.
