'I bet I could.'

'No you couldn't.'

'C'mon Sirius even I could make a better meal than you and I suck at cooking.'

'Well for you information Gracie, I am a brilliant cook.'

'For some reason, I don't believe you.'

'Well you better believe it because it's true.'

'Okay… whatever you say.'

'It's true.'

'I bet it is.' Remus mumbled annoyed under his breath.

James could see why he was annoyed. He was annoyed to. Gracie and Sirius had decided to have an argument over how Sirius couldn't cook a full meal after Sirius said that the dinner the House-elves had made didn't seem to be up to its usual standards.

Yeah, he didn't know how it got from not having a good dinner to making one either.

'Well if you think that, why don't we have a bake off?' Gracie suggested with a slight smirk on her face.

James really didn't like where this was going.

'I think I'll have to take you up on that.'

This wasn't going to end well.

'When do you want to have this competition?' Gracie asked.

'Now.'

'What?'

'Now,' Sirius shrugged. 'Unless…'

'Unless what?'

'Unless you're backing out…'

'Oh Sirius Black it's on.' Gracie said her eyes narrowed.

'Teams? Sirius asked.

'Teams. 3 people?'

He was going to get dragged into this… he knew it.

'Deal.'

Sirius reached over and shook hands with Gracie.

'I dibs James.' Sirius said quickly.

Yay.

'Lily.'

'Remus.'

'What! I wanted Remus!' Gracie whined.

'Snooze you lose.' Sirius said sticking his tongue out childishly out at her.

'Fine I want Dumbledore.'

'What? You can't have Dumbledore!' Sirius protested.

'Why not?'

'Because you can't!'

'It doesn't say that in the rules!'

'There are no rules!'

'Exactly!'

'You can't have Dumbledore it's not fair. He'll use magic.'

'Again, where does it say you can't use magic?'

'Right here.' Sirius said, grabbing a piece of parchment from his bag along with a quill and ink.

He scribbled, 'RULES:

No magic.

3 members per team.

Dumbledore can't be on a team.

Neither can any of the other teachers.

1 and ½ to make the 3 course meal.

2nd year Gryffindors only.

No cheating.

No stealing.

No spying.

No crying.

No spitting in each other's food.

No getting any extra help.

No sabotaging.

Recipe books allowed.

Judged by non-biased people.

No moaning.

No knocking people over so they drop their food.

No potions and no magical herbs/plants.

BE A MUGGLE.

USE MUGGLE EQUIPMENT.

'That's a pretty long list.' Gracie muttered.

'Yes it is.' Sirius said looking pretty proud of himself.

'Fine I pick Alice.'

'Great! Now let's go to the kitchens!'

This wasn't going to end well…

'I'm thinking for started we make a nice soup. For main we make a roast dinner and for dessert, my favourite, chocolate cake.' Sirius said.

'Sounds alright.' James shrugged, still unsure why he had been dragged into this.

'I'll get the recipe books.' Remus said, shaking his head and muttering to himself and he went to get them.

'We have to win this James.'

'Uh why?'

'Bragging rights.'

Sirius was right. If Gracie won, she'd never let them forget about it. They had to win.'

'Everyone needs to put their wands on the Hufflepuff table so no one will be tempted to use magic. No taking them back until after either.' Alice said, taking her wand and putting it on the table.

'Fine.'

Wands now placed on the table, James turned to Lily.

'So, Evans, what you cooking?'

'No of your business.'

'Jeez I was just asking.'

'You're going down.' She said and walked off.

'Why is everyone taking this so seriously?' James mumbled to himself as he made his way back towards Remus and Sirius.

Who was waiting with...

'What is that?' James asked, eyeing the 3 thing in Sirius's hand.

'A hat so we look like proper chefs! Now James put it on were starting soon!' he said giddily.

James put it on and Gracie must have found it hilarious as she was nearly on the floor rolling with laughter.

'Timers on! GO!'

James was pushed towards a recipe books with 'SOUPS' on it and got started to work.

The first hour was pretty peaceful.

Nothing exciting much happened except for when Remus nearly cut his finger off, Gracie tried to steal her wand back and then her crying and when asked why she said 'because I thought it would annoy Sirius because of his stupid rules.' He had heard and Gracie covered and said 'she was cutting onions up so it didn't count'.

Yeah it was pretty uneventful.

The last half hour was when it got messy.

Really messy.

Things started off, as you can probably imagine, with Gracie trying to pour chilli powder in James's chicken soup.

That's when Sirius said, 'Gracie it's already hot with me around. Why would you want to make it even hotter?'

It turned out that Gracie was kind of surprised by that remark and decided to throw flour at him.

It kind of escalated quickly from there.

Sirius threw flour back.

Gracie through an egg e it accidentally hit James.

It didn't take long for everyone to get involved.

Even Lily.

It was fun and James hadn't realised the mess they had made until afterwards.

James kind of felt sorry for the house-elves.

'Our cake mixture is all over the floor!' Sirius yelled eyes wide.

He turned to face Grace with a hard stare.

'Hey, our salads messed up!' Alice shouted.

'What? The tomatoes were really good for throwing.' James shrugged.

At that moment, the timer went off. 1 and a half hours were up.

They all looked at each other.

'20 minutes?' Gracie asked.

'Deal.'

And they rushed back to their food.

'Roast is done.' Remus said, taking it out of the oven and starting to set it out on a plate.

'Soup is to I think. What are we going to do about dessert?' James questioned.

'I bet this was their plan all along. Evans wouldn't have gotten involved otherwise…' Sirius said quietly to himself, pacing back and forth.

Then he stopped and turned around to face Remus and James.

'I have an idea.'

'Well, I simply cannot wait to try these delicious dishes you 6 have made today. We heard of the competition and Professor McGonagall, Professor Slughorn and I decided to try the dishes ourselves and be judges,' Professor Dumbledore said happily. 'Starters first then?'

Alice and James both laid their starters on the table in front of the judges.

'What do we have here?'

'Salad.'

The salad was a typical one with some type of sauce that James couldn't recognise on top of it. He guessed they had found more tomatoes as he could she them peeking out.

'Chicken Soup.'

The soup was presented nicely, with pieces of buttered bread on the plate next to the bowl of soup that smelled delicious.

Each of the judges had a try of the starters.

'Very nice. Shall we have the mains now?'

Gracie and Remus placed the mains on the table in front of the judges.

'Professors, this is classic roast dinner.' The beef was cooked nicely and luckily it wasn't burnt. There were also potatoes along with carrots, peas and Yorkshire pudding all covered in gravy.

'We decided to go with an Italian feel and made spaghetti and meatballs.' There was a huge amount of spaghetti in the bowl with a sauce and the meatballs on top. James had to admit it looked tasty.

The judges once again tried the meals.

'Desserts please?'

Sirius grabbed their dish but it wasn't actually theirs… it was the girls. They had of course planned to make a chocolate cake but after the mix got ruined, they had to dish up some ice-cream which was melting as they waited. The girls had made a trifle that looked delicious and was decorated with chocolate sauce on the plate and that was the plate Sirius had picked up.

So this was Sirius idea.

Lily was glaring so hard James actually thought it was hurting her eyes. She looked like she wanted to protest but she kept her mouth shut. Her face then lit up and James got kind of freaked out. She smirked, picked up the ice cream and put it on the table in front of the judges.

'This is a trifle.' The trifle looked nice and James thought the chocolate sauce was a nice touch.

'Ice cream, Professors.'

It was plain vanilla ice cream and it was nearly all melted. James would've been a bit worried but luckily, the ice cream didn't 'belong' to his group anymore.

The Professors once again tried them.

'Thank you for letting us try your dishes. Would you mind stepping out of the room while we discuss the winner?'

They left and as soon as the door shut, Alice blew up at them.

'You stupid, idiotic, mean,-' Red in the face she shouted.

James, Sirius and Remus took a step back as they were kind of scared of her (not that they'd tell anyone that).

'-arrogant, annoying marauders!'

Marauders?

A/N: ! Sorry I'm so excited. I didn't know where to get the name from and then I was like 'It can happen this chapter!' then I was like 'Who gets to say it?' at first it was Gracie, then it was Lily but as you can see I finally settled on Alice. Bright ray of sunshine isn't she? So who do you thinks going to win? Sorry again for not updating! Thanks for waiting!
