Hello, my lovely readers. Agh, there are only a few more chapters before this story ends and the spin-off/sequel begins. I hope you like this chapter because it's from Rebekah's POV. (I miss her already. :,)) On with the show…

Chapter 32: Surrounded by Bloody Fools

Her boot heels clacked as she walked toward their new home. "Does no one in you little group grasp the meaning of sitting ducks?" Rebekah snarled into Stefan's ear as they walked toward the country estate. Rebekah was determined that they should ditch the car several miles back and head on foot toward their new home. She insisted that it allow them the element of surprise in case Klaus were waiting for them. Personally, Stefan thought that Rebekah had lost her mind before they left Mystic Falls.

They walked up the steps and Rebekah stared up at the house listening closely to the noises inside. It seemed as if there was quite a bit of racket and Kol could be heard yelling some nonsense she could care less about. The door flew open to reveal Elena Salvatore. "You're here," she greeted them more warmly than Rebekah would have expected.

And Stefan seemed to be surprised when Elena reached out and hugged him tightly. "I missed you baby bro," Elena whispered before ushering them inside the house. "Did you want to see your room or would you like to join the party?"

"Party?" Rebekah echoed her confusion, her nose wrinkling and her mouth pursing. "What party?"

"The welcome to your new home party," Bonnie called out as she came over to hug Rebekah and then Stefan. She was wearing one of those little pointy hats. Then Kol appeared with his own pointy hats made to look like horns. "How appropriate," Rebekah mused to herself as she looked around for Elijah.

"Elijah," Rebekah shouted causing Stefan to wince and he was relieved when the Original brother appeared. "How are the hostages?" Rebekah asked her eldest brother.

"Rebekah, they are not hostages," Elijah began when there was a howl of rage from above their heads.

"Time to crank the music," Kol called and disappeared, followed by the sound of loud rock music now pouring throughout the house.

"Kol, can you please find another station?" Elijah yelled over the music his face contorting in pain.

"No, brother," Kol replied and then walked away.

Stefan started to walk away when Rebekah grabbed him by the arm and held him still. "Where are you going?" She demanded and Elena cocked her head to the side as Stefan frowned.

"I was going to get us drinks. It's a party, Bekah. Try relaxing a bit," Stefan replied pulling away and walking out of the room.

"Word of advice, Rebekah," Elena addressed the Original. "Stefan does not like clingy girls. So, just give him space or you will lose him quickly."

Rebekah scoffed and rolled her eyes before turning to her brother. "Elijah what were you thinking, having us all gather here like this?"

"I do not believe that our brother is beyond reason. I thought perhaps we may be able to make a deal with him." Elijah began when Rebekah opened her mouth to interject. Holding up a hand, Elijah smiled. "However, do not worry, Bekah, if peaceful negotiations fail I have made sure that we may leave unharmed."

"I say we hand over Lockwood, Caroline and the doppleganger, cut our losses and leave, Elijah," Rebekah retorted. "Why should we risk our lives to protect these people? They are not our family."

"Would you risk Stefan?" Elijah asked his sister and he saw a dark look appear on her face. "Yes, that is what I thought. Therefore we will not be risking anyone in the group. You do understand that if Niklaus chooses the path of revenge once more that he will come for Elena and then it will be a matter of time before Stefan and you yourself come to be high on his list. We must end it now."

"I do not trust Nik. You know that he is not a man of his word. He will smile to your face and stab you in the back, literally," Rebekah argued as Elena leaned against a wall taking the entire scene in.

"What if he thought that Damon and Caroline were dead?" Elena asked them and the Original siblings turned to stare at her. "We could make him believe that a hunter killed them. Then he would stop looking for them. There's even the possibility that he would just leave the rest of us alone and find some new group of people to torture, right?"

"It doesn't work like that, Elena," Rebekah snapped and Elijah looked thoughtful.

"It could work," Elijah muttered thinking about how to describe the scenario.

"You're a couple of fools. I am leaving before Nik arrives. I hope you both enjoy certain death," Rebekah yelled before she walked upstairs to look for the two vampires her brother wanted. Opening the door to the attic she found that there was a magical barrier keeping Caroline and Damon inside.

"Rebekah," Caroline whispered and then she began to beat at the barrier in rage. "I will get of here and kill you, you bitch." Caroline howled in rage and she flung herself at the barrier.

"I see Damon could not keep his mouth shut," Rebekah sighed, shaking her head as she looked at Damon.

"What do you want, Rebekah?" Damon demanded.

"Nik is coming." Rebekah announced and the two younger vampires could only stare at Rebekah uncomprehendingly.

"What?" That was the only response that Damon could come up with as he stared at Rebekah. "Are you crazy? Or do you just have a death wish that you wanted to share with your nearest and not dearest?"

"Who's Nik?" Caroline asked looking from Damon to Rebekah.

Rebekah chose to ignore the baby vampire for the moment and kept her attention on Damon. Flipping her hair over her shoulder she sneered. "This was not my idea, Damon. If you want someone to blame than I suggest that you blame my brother, Elijah. Or you could blame yourself for causing that witch to curse you and turning our lives into this nonsense."

"Oh, what are you complaining about?" Damon yelled in his frustration. "It looks to me like you're getting the better part of the deal than any of us. You were reunited with your former lover, you're out of your box and you're surrounded by people who have to listen to your insistent whining."

"Whining?" Rebekah fumed. "I've been whining? How would you like to live for a thousand years as little more than a creature who your brother treats like a sometimes beloved pet and sometimes pure annoyance? When's the last time someone put a dagger in your chest and killed anyone you loved? Tell me, Damon! Tell me what it's like to have your life shattered time and time again by the brother you adore."

Damon closed his mouth as Rebekah began to cry and Caroline stood by the barrier and placed a palm to it. "I'm sorry," she whispered.

Rebekah began to laugh. "What are you sorry about?"

"I'm sorry that he hurt you because he's scared to be alone." Caroline told Rebekah pressing her palm flat against the barrier.

"Why would you think he does it because he's lonely?" Rebekah snapped, wiping her cheek with the back of her hand in an angry stroke.

"Because I'm lonely too. Because you are. Because Damon is. Because we all are. We're scared that no one will love us. That no one will ever see us for who and what we are, of what we're capable of being. But it's okay to be scared and it's okay to show you're hurt and it's okay to admit that you don't want to be alone, Rebekah," Caroline whispered, staring at the older vampire as Damon placed his hand on Caroline's shoulder. Sometimes Caroline shocked him.

"I can see what he sees in you now," Rebekah informed Caroline. "You're a fool just like he is." Sighing, Rebekah smiled. "I've lived for a thousand years to find out that my heartless brother could find someone who makes him feel something and I take it away from him because I fear he might be himself and destroy it." Peering at Caroline Rebekah softened her gaze. "You know I think he does care for you. The question is will it be enough. Are you enough to keep him from killing all of us?"

Shaking her head, Rebekah stared at Caroline. "Caroline, you can remember Klaus now," she whispered and Caroline stared at the floor. Then she sat down on the floor and hugged her knees to her chest lost in her memories.

Walking away Rebekah called over her shoulder. "I'll see what I can do about getting the two of you out of that chamber there."

Passing through the hallways Rebekah was well aware of everything that was at stake in case their mission failed and Klaus inevitably showed his true colors. Then it would be every vampire, witch and human for him herself. Coming to a stop in front of her room when she visited this home Rebekah became of aware of Stefan. "Hello."

"Hello, Rebekah. Lost in thought again," Stefan called casually. She may still be crazy but there were still many things that Stefan did not know about Rebekah such as the times that she would sit and think. He had not known Rebekah was a heavy thinker during their time together. Heavy drinker, yes.

Slipping his arms around her waist Stefan stood behind Rebekah as they gazed out the window of her room. "That bed looks awfully lonely to me. You think that we should give it company until your other brother shows up?" Pressing a light kiss to Rebekah's neck Stefan picked her up and sped them over to the bed.

"He's going to kill us, you know," Rebekah whispered as they rid each other of clothing.

"Maybe," Stefan replied nodding along as he pulled her shirt off. "But until then I say we eat, drink and be merry…"

"For tomorrow we shall die," Rebekah finished smiling in spite of her fear. "But Stefan, that means one thing for me and something else for you. When he kills you, you won't come back. That means you must promise me that you will leave before he comes."

"I won't leave your side, Bekah," Stefan swore.

"You won't have a choice," Rebekah snapped.

Stefan sat back and stared at her. "So, what? Are you going to compel me like you compelled Caroline? Or like Klaus compelled me to forget you?" Getting off the bed Stefan shook his head. "You've got to be kidding me. Rebekah, given your history, I cannot believe that you would do something like that."

Rebekah got up and forced him to turn and look at her. "I do not have a choice, Stefan. I know you. You will attempt to save me and you will die in the process. I cannot lose you twice. Please, Stefan, it is for the best."

"No, it's not, Rebekah," Stefan argued. "Once you strip someone of their free will you're taking their ability to choose away. And how do you know that you'll be able to stop. We have an argument and you decided to compel me to forget. You want me to do something I do not believe is right and you compel me to do it. The list goes on and on. We can't be together if that's the life you want."

Without another word Stefan grabbed his clothes and left the room to the sounds of whistling from Kol. "Dear sister, you are back to your cavorting with the commoners again?" Grinning from ear to ear Kol came in and flopped down on the bed. Then he realized that his sister was naked and squeezed his eyes shut. "And you need to find your clothing because I now need therapy. Do you think that Nik would have a number for someone in that profession?"

"KOL," Rebekah shouted and Kol began to laugh as he began to place his hands outward, reaching for garments for his sister. "Just get out of my room."

"I cannot," Kol replied with his eyes still closed. Elijah has banished me from the party because I said I wanted to paint the walls red. He thought I meant with blood. Well, it was his idea…"

"Oh, God, Kol, what is wrong with you?" Rebekah snapped at him as she pulled her clothes on. "I'm dressed."

"Lovely," Kol replied as he snapped his lids to stare at his sister in a more appealing state to his tastes. "Alright then. What shall our course of action be when it concerns Nik? I'm sure you want to make a plan to get the hell out of here without ending up in a pair of boxes once more. So, sister, what shall we do?"

"Well, I am done with running in spite of what I would like to do. Apparently the other fools plan on fighting Nik if it comes to it," Rebekah informed her brother, glaring at the ceiling.

"Yes, but that won't work because Nik is always has a card up his sleeve and he has more sleeves than the ordinary gentleman. Not that Nik is a gentleman. He's more of a scoundrel. But then again, who would want to be a gentleman? I like to eat gentlemen. Except your little Stefan. I suspect he tastes odd," Kol continued to ramble on as Rebekah left the room and he got up to follow her through the house.

"Bonnie," Rebekah shouted peering around the house for the little witch.

"Yes, Rebekah?" Bonnie called appearing in the hallway downstairs.

"Please, take this off my hands," Rebekah ordered and then she pointed at Kol. Then she remembered something. "Actually, never mind. You're needed upstairs."

"For what?" Bonnie asked, looking from Rebekah to Kol who shrugged.

"You know I have to think about this. Who tastes better: gentleman, sailors, actresses, witches, dopplgangers or…"

"KOL," Rebekah shouted causing Kol to gaze at her with his face blank.

"Yes, Bekah," Kol called as if she were far away and then he smirked. "You make it too easy."

"Get daggered," Rebekah snarled.

"As you wish." Kol bowed before disappearing probably to find something else to drive Elijah insane with.

"What do you want me to do?" Bonnie asked again and Rebekah ignored her. She walked back toward the attic. When they were standing in front of the invisible barrier Bonnie gasped as she tried to walk into the attic.

"I need you to break the spell that was cast of this attic," Rebekah announced hoping that Kol was doing a good job at keeping Elijah distracted so she could work on plan B.

"Why are they in there?" Bonnie asked as she stared at Caroline and Damon.

"Because the spell prevents them from being able get out. If a vampire goes in they're stuck. It's a way of trying to keep them safe from Klaus," Rebekah informed Bonnie feeling irritated.

"And you want me to take the spell down why?" Bonnie stared at Rebekah her eyebrows rising high.

"Because if Nik comes here and he finds these two and they cannot leave they will be unable to protect themselves," Rebekah replied. "If you change the spell so that they come and go at their own will then that changes the rules of the game. Do you understand my logic now?"

"Yeah, I guess so," Bonnie nodded.
"Is there anything else you want?" Bonnie called as Rebekah started to walk away.

"Yes, a slight adjustment to the spell would suffice," Rebekah called over her shoulder.

"And what would that be?" Bonnie called back.

"You'll know when I tell you," Rebekah muttered as she sped downstairs.
