Mass Effect Shepard Rises.
Shepard watched as Benezia ignored Liara and stood looking at whatever was in the large tank from what he could see she wore a long black dress with a black hat that formed a pattern around her head and covered most of her head like her nose and ears, he and his team carefully and slowly walk into the room he is constantly looking around for any hidden threats but he can only see Benezia, as he gets closer he notices one hand on the glass and the other holding some sort of device that emits a beeping sound.
He watches as she lowers her hand from the glass and places the device in her dress pocket, he looks to Liara as she pushes past him.
"Mother." He notices her voice is wavering and her eyes full of unshed tears, he turns from Liara and looks at Benezia as she slowly turns around her dress is cut over her cleavage showing off her ample breasts but covering the important parts he looks her in the eyes and finds himself looking into a pit of hate, her face is a dark blue colour and her eyes look to have sunk into her face leaving dark circles around her eyes her lips seemed to have lost their colour. He watches as Benezia looks from him to Liara and a sneer forms on her face making her face darker.
"You do not know the power of being a mother. There is power in creation. To shape a life turn it to happiness or despair. Her children were to be ours. To slay Saren's enemies." Her voice is full of hate and passion.
He watches as Benezia takes a few steps forward "I see you brought my daughter. I won't be moved by sympathy, no matter who you bring."
Shepard looks from Benezia to Liara who is looking wide eyed at Benezia he looks back to Benezia "Liara isn't here by force, she wanted to come and try to talk to you." He watches as Benezia ponders his words then looks up and snarls.
"What have you told him about me Liara, have you told him how to kill me." Benezia says through gritted teeth.
He watches as Liara takes a small step back "no mother I would never do that please tell me what has Saren done to you?" he looks away as Liara wipes tears from her eyes and focus on Benezia.
"He has done nothing excepted filled my mind with light, at first I resisted but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't resist and now I'm glad I finally see the universe for what it is." She says as she paces back and forth.
"What do you mean?" he asks as he carefully places himself between Benezia and Liara he hears the shuffle of feet behind him and smiles knowing his team were moving to protect the weaker people of the team mainly Tali. He watches as Benezia looks from Liara to him the hairs on his neck stand on end and his instincts scream at him to move time seemed to slow as he watches as Benezia throws her arms out and before he can move he is frozen in place.
"No more talking, commandos to me." Benezia screams as her body glows blue with biotic power.
He watches in horror as Asari commando pour into the room from side rooms and his team dodge incoming fire and try to find cover "Shepard fight it you can break through if you push hard." He tries to nod his head at Liara but he can't so instead powers up his own biotic's and pushes against the blue glow around his body, gritting his teeth he pushes harder as his vision starts to go blurry with a cry of rage he feels as his legs start to loosen black spots start to appear and he feels as blood starts to drip from both his nostrils, he suddenly feels himself drop to his knees he struggles to push himself into cover.
"Shepard don't get involved in this fight." He vaguely looks to the voice and nods his head at Kaidan, as he's sitting there against the wall as overhead he can just hear the sounds of gunfire and Wrex shouting "I AM KROGAN." Shaking his head he pulls out his rifle and rises to his knees ahead of him an Asari commando is throwing biotic fields at a charging Wrex trying to slow the 800 pound juggernaut down taking a deep breath he squeezes the trigger and watches with a smile as the Asari commando's brains splatter across Wrex's armour, who looks up at him and smiles. He looks across the battle to see Tali dodging attacks from Benezia he watches as Benezia biotic barrier absorbs Tali's shotgun blasts and closes the distance between her and Tali, he watches in horror as Benezia lifts Tali up and throws her across the room hitting Liara on the way and both end up in a heap on the floor.
He screams in rage and fires his rifle at Benezia "Over here you blue bitch" he screams he watches as Benezia looks up at him and smiles she raises her leg and slams it down on Tali's ribs he hears Tali scream as Benezia cracks one of her ribs, he roars in anger and ignoring his dizziness he races across the room his biotic's flaring brightly around his body almost like his rage is fuelling it he raises his hands and forms fists and throws a quick jab at Benezia who fails to dodge in time and leans forward as his fist connects to her stomach he steps to the left and raises his elbow and slams it against Benezia's head he watches as Benezia falls to the floor and tries to push herself up, he kicks her in the stomach and watches as she rolls forward he stands there panting blood running down his face mixing with sweat he takes a step forward and reaches out for Benezia and grips her around the throat he easily picks her up and throws punch after punch with his right hand until he hears her ribs break under the strain of his cybernetics he throws her across the room using his Biotic's and watches as she slams against the glass tank and falls to the floor.
He stands there panting for a moment before dropping to his knees he quickly pulls away his helmet and throws up on the floor, he is dimly aware of Kaidan rushing towards him and turning him over through his blurry vision he can make out Kaidan talking but he can't hear him, he spits blood from his mouth and whispers a name "Tali" he watches as Kaidan nods, he feels himself being picked up and supported by Kaidan who walks him towards the glass tank what's inside takes his breath away it is the largest Rachni he has ever seen blue glowing eye's seem to stare into his a gasp behind him takes his eyes away from the huge Rachni to Benezia who is leaning against the tank with blue blood dripping from her mouth her arm outstretched to Liara her voice soft and full of love.
"Little wing." He watches as Liara runs past him and drops to her knees in front of Benezia.
"I'm here mother." She grips her mother hand.
"I'm sorry little wing I-I tried to stop Saren but I could his thoughts seem to become yours." Benezia leans forward to spit blood from her mouth and then leans back against the glass "I was sent to find the location of the MU relay it was lost thousands of years ago, in a sector of space the Rachni inhabited I took the information from this queens mind I was not gentle."
He watches as blood spills out from her mouth and her eyes shift between hatred and sorrow.
"Please little wing take the device there I has the position of the relay on it, you must hurry I sent it to Saren, now please while my mind is still my own kill me."
He watches with sorrow as Liara shakes her head "no mother please fight it." He knows she can't so he steps forward and places a hand on Liara's shoulder.
"Hey listen this might be a chance to say goodbye"
He watches as Liara looks at him with tears streaming out her eyes but with a determination burning behind them as she nods, he lowers his hand and watches as Liara bends down and her eyes go black.
"Embrace eternity"
For a few seconds nothing happens then Liara stands on shaky feet and looks away, he bends down and slowly pulls out his gun "Ready?" he asks.
"Yes and Thank you please look after her."
He nods and before Benezia can blink pulls the trigger, behind him he hears a scream ashamed he looks to the floor and feels as Kaidan picks him up.
"What are we going to do about the queen?"
He looks from Tali to the queen and thinks before saying "i'm not sure." before anyone can reply or answer him Benezia's head rises and she speaks in a rough voice.
"I am the mother but I can no longer hear my children, we cannot sing in these closed spaces."
He cocks his eyebrow and scratches the back off his neck "erm singing." he turns and looks over at his companions who all shrug.
"We sing to our children but these people took them away before we could start our song."
He looks away from his team and struggles to his knees and looks at Benezia's body "How are you using this body." he watches as Benezia's blank eyes look to him before she spoke again in her rough voice.
"We heard her ending song it was bitter sweet, so before it could end we took control of it."
He stands and walks towards the tank and looks eye to eye with the queen "what do you want from me?" he watches as the Rachni queen opens it huge mouth and a small sound comes out.
"We want what we always wanted freedom, we are the last of our kind."
before he can rely Wrex walks toward him "Shepard you cannot release her, my kind was the only thing that stopped them the last time before the Turians gave us our reward the genophage."
He sighs and places his head on the glass and closes his eyes his body is battered and bruised and he feels like he could sleep at any moment when he speaks it in a quiet voice "I know Wrex, what the Turians did is horrible..."
"No Shepard you don't understand you have never seen the piles and piles of babys that never lived,"
He turns and looks Wrex in the eyes something flashes in them that he cant understand or place "Wrex tell me if you were the last of your kind and had the chance to bring back the Krogan would you?" the question hangs in the air before Wrex nods.
"Fine Release her I might have helped destroying Saren's cure for my people but don't expect me to agree with this."
He watches as Wrex turns on his heel and pushes through the team he watches as Wrex stops briefly in front of Garrus and growls before he pushes past him and leaves the room. He turns to the queen "What will you do if I release you?"
"We will find a planet away from people and rebuild, we will teach our children that war is not the way."
He nods and motions Tali to release the queen as the glass rises into the air and opens up to a side entrance the queen stops and turns it huge head to look at him.
"We will sing of your compassion."
He nods and turns back to watch as Benezia head slumps again and doesn't move, he looks to his team "Did I do the right thing." he asks hoping they agree with him.
"For me I regret what the Turians did to the Krogan, so I agree with you Shepard."
He nods at Garrus and watches as the rest of his team nod, he smiles and takes a few steps forward before the world spins and he drops to the floor as blackness wraps it hands around him.
