A/N: Hello everyone and welcome back. There is not really much to say, except from the fact I've been away, doing a lot of other stuff than writing. I apologize to anyone who's been waiting eagerly for the continuation of the story, I'll see what I can do about later updates. For now, I hope you'll enjoy this latest chapter.
Samhan: My thoughts exactly. Once Naru finds something she really cares for, she won't give it up that easily and she'll usually protect it with all her might. In this case Keitaro.
I love your idea. It seems quite plausible and fun. Maybe even having Keitaro getting jalous over her getting so much attention.. Only to be assaulted from both sides by Kanako and Naru, fighting over him.
darkalex08: I'm glad you're enjoying it so far.
Disclaimer: I don't own Love Hina or any of the characters, Ken Akamatsu does. Damn you! *Raises fist in the air*
Timeline of Love Hina: Keitaro Urashima has already failed twice in his entry exams to get into Tokyo University. Naru hasn't graduated Highschool yet, so she is spending most her time either at school or in her room, studying with Keitaro. Last month they both passed their center exams, after Keitaro had fled, when he failed the mock exam again. It's the 1st of February 1999 and Valentines Day is coming up...
- Where we left of: At the Urashima residence -
Kanako recovered before she hit anything, doing somersaults and landing on edge of the roof with her arms outstretched. She put down her arms, but remaining in her spot, she looked down at the two. Beside her brother stood a fairly beautiful young girl, looking to be around his age. It was fairly obvious that she was the cause for the sudden pain in her side.
Naru was practically emitting an aura of anger. There was no way she was gonna let some unknown girl lay her hands on Keitaro, that was for sure! She regained her posture, looking straight up at Kanako with eyes like daggers.
"Brother, who is this girl?" Kanako asked while looking at Keitaro.
Naru put her hands on her hips and turned to Keitaro as well. "I would very much like to know the same."
But before any further bloodshed, he made a big sigh and just gave in. If he did not follow along willingly, this was doomed to end very badly. Deciding to start with the one who raised the question first, he introduced Naru to Kanako.
"Kanako, this is Naru my-" But before he got any chance to continue, he was cut off by Naru, finishing his sentence.
"Fiancée and very beautiful lover." Naru said with the claws out, like a feline protecting her pray. All the while pressing her upper body against his side and taking a hold of his arm. She made sure to imply, that everything was hers and she definitely wasn't going to share.
Keitaro grew a little red, as he felt her chest rub against his right arm. She might be his fiancée, but it wasn't all the time she let him feel up her.. modest bust.
You could almost see steam rising from Kanako's head, because of the anger building up inside her. It was vile seeing how strongly Naru was seducing her brother. To her anyway.
"Naru." He got her attention, before continuing. "This is my sister, Kanako."
If it wasn't for the seemingly very annoyed reaction from Naru, the large smug grin plastered on Kanako's face wouldn't be there now. Anything to set off little miss seduction-feline and brother-violating-blondie, would bring endless joy to her.
"It seems like you aren't his sole girl." Kanako said, which caused a sudden snarl from Naru. But Naru definitely wasn't going to lose to this goth-girl, so she did what she had been doing pretty much all the time, the last couple of days. She kissed Keitaro, who almost out of reflex, immediately returned her kiss and pulled her in close. Deciding it probably would only piss off Kanako even more, she entered her tongue into his mouth and they began french kissing.
What awaited them when they parted, was no less than a death-glare from Kanako. She looked like she could kill and any moment, without the hint of inhibitions. This definitely wasn't going to end well.
- Moments of silence later -
Kanako looked at the two, having regained her posture and questioned them. "Would you care to explain yourself? Why have you come here?"
"Well, I'm his Fiancée and we both thought we would pay a visit to your parents, so he could introduce me. Isn't that reason enough?" Naru replied simply.
"Hmm.. What is this? Dragging him around and showing him off as some kind of prize? Perhaps you are afraid, because you met a little competition? I didn't know my sole character emitted a vibe strong enough to intimidate you."
Naru seemed lost for words, either way she just stayed silent. Evading the question, she presented another pressing matter.
"So are you gonna let us in or are we gonna stay out here and freeze to death?"
What was she talking about? It was early spring! Winter had long gone and the plants were beginning to blossom. I guess it didn't take long before Naru let Kanako get to her. Never the less, Kanako took the hint and moved aside to motion for them to enter, for which Naru did not waste a second.
Keitaro just held his head and gave off a nervous chuckle, as he followed inside as well with his sister, who closed the door after them.
Once inside no one said a word as Naru and Keitaro removed their shoes and followed Kanako to the living room. She offered to bring them tea, so they just sat down across each other at a small table, which stood pretty much center in the room.
Naru locked her eyes on Keitaro and it kinda looked like she was just staring at him blankly.. Though she might have been seeking some kind of assistance, but didn't know what exactly.
Trying to ignore the awkward situation, Keitaro looked around the room aimlessly. Well he did manage to see that nothing had really changed. It was just the traditional japanese home, with the sliding door, a couple zabutons (sitting pillows) around the room, of course the table they sat at and even some tall and slim pots with long leafed plants. This house was quite opposite from Naru's parents home, which was very westernized. While his parents were actually quite devoted to the japanese traditions and standards, so they tried to keep the house in the same theme. Which kinda explained why he rarely was allowed, to get anything that looked the slightest western while he grew up. Apparently they thought it was cheating on the japanese culture, by changing your house to match the western standards.
That being said, it wasn't true that it didn't have some beauty to it. The very traditional japanese interior felt.. well, like home. You certainly knew where you had your roots, when you lived here.
While Keitaro was drifting off thinking about his parents and their patriotism for traditional japanese culture, Naru had given up getting his attention. He seemed as far off as France.. which, unsurprisingly, was quite far.
Anyway, it was then Kanako had decided to return, carrying a tray of three tea cups and a can of tea. She poured a cup for Naru, which she accepted without complaining. It was a green tea and looked to be home brewed, judging from the small tea leaves still floating around in there.
Kanako didn't waste time trying to get Keitaro's attention, so she just poured him a cup as well and put it in front of him. Putting down the tray on the table, she sat down and poured another for herself.
Naru took a couple sips from the tea. It tasted slightly bitter. She guessed lemon grass.
"Do you often make tea, Kanako?" Naru asked out of the blue, trying to strike a conversation. Keitaro was now also sitting quitely drinking his tea.
"Isn't it the standard, that the woman serve the man of the house? It is only normal that I would serve the tea, since I am a woman of this household and we are in the company of a man." Kanako said in a monotone voice and was quite calm.
"Are you perhaps implying I am incapable of servicing men properly?" Naru snarled at Kanako, feeling slightly offended.
"It's not that you are incapable, I'm just insinuating you are not putting in an effort. Not even to please your own man." Kanako replied, looking at Naru with an uncompassionate look. Naru was far from the kind of woman Kanako had expected for her brother and she was lacking even the basic manners. According to the standards she grew up with anyway.
Kanako continued, going head on with Naru. She certainly wasn't going to waste a good oppotunity to piss off Naru. "How can you expect me, or even our parents to approve of you, if you cannot even perform the simplest of tasks for your future husband."
"I'm more than certain they'll give us their blessings, when they see how much he loves me. Right Keitaro?" Naru threw Keitaro into the fire, right from his once peaceful moment. Keitaro snapped out of whatever thoughts he had and turned his attention towards Naru. It was incredible how easy he was distracted. Was he doing it on perpose? Those thoughts ran through Naru's head, as he gave him an angry glare.
Keitaro realising he was getting himself in a bad position, quickly went to Naru's side and kissed her cheek. He sat down on another pillow next to her and grabbed her hand, entwining her fingers with his. He whispered something into her ear, a moment later she turned beet red and looked down into her lap. Kanako had not heard what he had said, but just seeing Naru fidgeting and in discomfort pleased her.
"Really?" Naru asked Keitaro in a low voice, in response to whatever he just said, to which he nodded. Still red as a tomato, she laid down and put her head in his lap, looking straight up at him.
Keitaro thought about how adorable she was right now and gave a small laugh. It wasn't often he could get the upper hand of her, even with such a simple suggestion: Please lie your head in my lap. I promise you it'll calm you.
Kanako put down her cup on the table and exclaimed a subtle growl. She got up and hurried out of the room. She wasn't go to stick around and watch those two lovebirds play right in front of her. Even if it meant waking up her mother, getting those two to wake up from whatever dream they were currently indulged in, then let it be so.
- Break -
A/N: Woah, it's been quite some time. I'm awfully sorry and I apologize to anyone who has been waiting. Fret not, I have not given up on the story yet. - Hence the new chapter! I made sure to make it extra long, so it wouldn't be a total let down for you guys.
This chapter felt odd. Maybe because some of it felt forced and maybe even OC. Though I do try to stick to their true character.
Though I'm happy I got to flung a few verbal punches between Kanako and Naru. Even though they never met before in this story, they just naturally despise each other. No doubt about it. Kanako, a brocon, and Naru, the overconfident girl getting what she desires from Keitaro, simply because he's too kind for his own good.
Anyone who's still out there, I thank you sincerely and again, apologize for the long delay.
On a side note: Lemon grass tea.. weird right? Realisation just struck me after writing it.
My opinion on the Hinata Characters
Naru Narusegawa:
I guess I really couldn't snake my way around her. It was doomed to happen sooner or later. It would seem misplaced, if I took someone else right now.
But Naru. The goddess and angel of Love Hina.. On the outside. Rash, irrational at times even, quite the bookworm and awfully devoted. That's just a couble words to sum up the kind of girl Naru is.
She does not let anything get in the way of her studies. Maybe except for Keitaro, who seems to be the only one, besides Seta, to be able to snake his way into her heart. Even going as far as to dressing in as unrevealing clothes as possible and wearing geeky glasses, whenever she heads out to school or to study. This is definitely the Naru we know and love.
But the true beauty of her doesn't lie just within her. Most would say that the beauty of a person comes from within. Well in this case, Naru is a goddess on the inside and outside. Beautiful, long and silky soft hair and the usual neutral clothes whenever she isn't studying makes her a picture perfect goddess. (Sorry for the excessive use of the word "goddess", but "princess" just doesn't really fit her.)
She is capable of keeping her composure anywhere she goes and even in most hectic situations. The sad thing though, is that she has a hard time finding her smile. She is easily hurt, even if she doesn't show it. Her rash nature makes her presume the worst situations, before even thinking that it might have a logical explation. This kinda explains why Keitaro was doomed to get punished by her, while caught in so many unlucky situations. With his accident-prone nature, he is the perfect victim for her.
All in all, I don't think Love Hina would have come to be without a character like her. She is perfect for many situations and can even have slightly different personalities. Being geeky and studying all day, a diva worshipped by all boys or a lovestruck bird, usually with Keitaro.
Naru Narusegawa, the original creators may have finished your story, but you will live on in our stories. You are loved by many Love Hina fans. Probably by as many as you're hated. But you deserve just as much love, as any of the other girls.
Love you and may you live on forever in our hearts and stories.
