A/N: Hello, I'm back with a new chapter and an amazing announcement. We just rounded 5000 views!
Woah.. Thanks guys, it all your guys' doing. I am extremely happy you enjoyed my story.. But we are not done yet!
I feel like I owe you something for reaching that milestone with me.
It was not fair of me to just leave you guys behind. There may have been a million excuses for me to be doing something else, but it does not excuse me for letting down you readers.
I know this is a poor consolation and I can't promise I will be able to keep posting more chapters in the near future, but I do hope you will enjoy this chapter. I do not intend for the story to end here.
IdaAmeanDada: I gave it some thought the first day I read your comment.. and I've been ever since. I guess you're right, I went a little too easy over that. Don't worry, I'll fix that ^^
Samhan: I personally thank you for repeatedly reviewing my story and I'm happy for the many suggestions! The names are taken into consideration, after all you did come up with the names for Naru's parents and thanks for that. But I dunno what my resolve is gonna be yet.
4fireking: I think you misunderstood how I structured this story, but I hope you enjoy it anyway. If I ever get around to it, I will definitely review your story.
abzero001: Thank you for your support, I hope you won't be disappointed!
Disclaimer: I don't own Love Hina or any of the characters, Ken Akamatsu does. Damn you! *Raises fist in the air*
Timeline of Love Hina: Keitaro Urashima has already failed twice in his entry exams to get into Tokyo University. Naru hasn't graduated Highschool yet, so she is spending most her time either at school or in her room, studying with Keitaro. Last month they both passed their center exams, after Keitaro had fled, when he failed the mock exam again. It's the 1st of February 1999 and Valentines Day is coming up...
- In the Urashima's living room -
Keitaro, accompanied by his beautiful fiancée Naru, steadfast sister Kanako and cautious mother Shea, sat in the living room of the house he'd grown up in. There was a great tension in the air that evening. All four sat around the chabudai, the small japanese table dead center in the room with a couple of sitting pillows nicely surrounding it.
Hadn't it been for the vase and small candle holder on the table, they had probably been staring either at the table, each other or skimming the room. They had just finished dinner and the dishes were already done, so they had sat down to relax on Keitaro's mother's request.
Now Keitaro remembered why he never brought anyone home. Not that they didn't have anything to entertain them, they even had a television, but his mother was never the person to be too fond of these things. She liked to sit around silently and slowly take in the peacefulness of the room around her. Sometimes you could almost see an aura of strict demeanor surround her, a characteristic he had heard she apparently inherited from her mother he had heard.
Thankfully Keitaro's father Kyoushiro was a bit easier to persuade into playing some games or watching television. He was sort of his wildcard during the dull days.
Naru shot Keitaro fleeting looks, whenever Mrs. Urashima and Kanako weren't looking her way. Luckily he caught on fairly quickly, but there was not much to be done. It was far too early to retire for the evening, seeing as they did come to visit, it would be unfitting to leave in such a rush before even seeing Keitaro's father. The only solution left would be to strike up a conversation and wait until Mr. Urashima came back later, unless of course they didn't mind the endless silence.
Kanako didn't seem much bothered by it though, apparently being quite familiar with it all. The same didn't really apply to Keitaro, who spent most of his time in his room studying, reading manga or doing what a young teenager does best. Kanako was, in his stead, taken very good care of. And with a mix of their grandmothers teachings, this might explain her calm, somewhat monotone and serious character.
Deciding to take a wild chance, Keitaro decided to take action. "Excuse me, I got to go to the restroom for a minute." He smiled and took off, leaving behind Naru, who sat with her mouth wide open in awe.
"Close your mouth dear, it's not very delicate." Scolded by Shea, Naru quickly closed it again and shot her a glance. If you could read her mind, you would hear a lot of hot-headed outbursts and very improper words targeted at Keitaro. But they soon subsided when she came to a realization. 'Wait a second..'
"I'm very sorry, but I gotta go as well." She said and hurriedly got up, bowed to the two and walked out the room in the same direction Keitaro went. Shea didn't flinch and Kanako just shot her a glare on the way out, wondering what she had planned.
Naru stood in the hallway, looking around. She couldn't see Keitaro anywhere, until she was suddenly dragged into a room just next to her. Before she had a chance to scream, her mouth was covered with a warm hand. She heard the door close softly beside her. The room was dark, but not quite pitch black since the curtains were drawn aside.
The person who got her in this situation, was currently up against her back and slowly moved his head next to hers. "Shh.. We don't want the others to hear us."
Naru made a quick process of removing his hand from her mouth and turning around to face him. "Keitaro, what are you doing? Your mother's just inside the living room. We're gonna get caught!"
Keitaro was true enough her captor. He took himself to the head and looked away in worry. "Oh, man. My mother's gonna disown me!"
"If she hasn't already." Naru flicked his forehead with her middle finger and took a stern tone. "You could've at least told me about this, before you went off and left me in there!"
Keitaro returned his attention to her and moved in really close to her, their chests just inches apart. "I'm sorry." He gave her a peck on the cheek. "Am I forgiven?"
"Not quite" Naru grabbed him by the collar and gave him a quick peck on the lips in return. Before he could anything else, she had thrown him in the bed, just across the room. The bed being his fathers idea. In situations like these, Keitaro was happy he had a bed, since a futon probably wouldn't soften the blow as much.
"Wait Naru.. right here? Right now?" Keitaro looked worriedly at Naru, as she sat down on top of him. "Well.." Naru had a playful tone in her voice and with a sly grin on her face, she slowly moved her hands in a gliding motion up his stomach to his shoulders, giving her a closer look of her pray.
But she froze in her tracks, once she heard a door open. A switch was flipped and light filled the room. Kyoushiro, Keitaro's father, stood by the door with a surprised look on his face. The air quickly became awkward, with the two just lying still on the bed. "I'm sorry for intruding, do continue." His father said with a smile and grabbed the door handle again, about to close the door.
"No wait! We weren't doing anything." Naru jumped up from her position and sat upright beside Keitaro on the bed.
"Oh don't be modest, I know how the youth can be these days." This just made Naru turn a crimson red and look down in embarrassment. Deciding it was probably time he said something, Keitaro too sat up and looked at Kyoushiro. "Welcome home dad. Meet Naru, my f-fiancée." He took her one hand in his and used his other to scratch the back of his head.
- In the hallway just outside Keitaro's room -
Naru bowed to Keitaro's father. "I am deeply sorry you got such an indecent first impression."
"It's all fine, let's start over. I'm Kyoushiro Urashima, father of your redheaded fiancée over there." Kyoushiro told her with a smirk, making Keitaro stifle a nervous laugh.
Naru giggled while looking at Keitaro, which only caused the poor guy that much more embarrassment. Collecting himself, he straightened himself up and looked at his father with a determined look. "I love this woman and I hope you will bless our marriage."
This just made Naru thrust her elbow into his side and his father chuckle. "This woman?" Naru protested and made a 'humph' noise.
Keitaro put his arms around her and pulled her in for a kiss. "This very special woman, whom I cannot live without." Naru didn't resist. She laid her head on his chest once he was done. "Baka.."
"Well you better keep a good grasp on her, she seems like a lovely girl. So I definitely give you all my support, but I know you know I'm not the one to persuade Keitaro." Kyoushiro obviously was referring to the iron-willed woman of the family.
"Hehe, I know.. I know.." Keitaro had affirmed his suspicion. It was his mother who would be the hard nut to crack. "Well then, let's go seek for her approval as well, shall we?" to which Keitaro and Naru agreed and followed Kyoushiro to the living room.
But before they entered, he turned around and stopped them. "Oh by the way, are you gonna stay the night?"
Keitaro reacted surprisingly quickly and fastened his grip on Naru hand, causing her to gasp out of surprise. "Well we plan to." "Keitaro you've been a real tease today!" She scolded him and sighed heavily, but smiled none the less. He had better step up soon, being this rash about everything was beginning to annoy her..
"Then on my request, don't hold back. We're in the other end of the house, so don't worry being loud." Kyoushiro said with wink and continued on into the living room, leaving behind the very flustered couple. They had almost be caught red handed, and now Keitaro's father actually suggested they did 'IT' tonight. Obviously neither of their families were the definition of normal. But at least it would seem Keitaro's father could make a great friend of Naru's parents.
When they entered, they realized Kanako had gone and only Shea remained. Kyoushiro had gone ahead of them and greeted his wife with a kiss. "I'm home." "Welcome home." She could actually manage to smile a bit, when she saw him, her son and his fiancée enter. It was a funny sight to see two youngsters so nervous. "I see you two are back. Do you have something to discuss with me?" Shea asked them, as they had stopped a few feet from her.
"Yes, actually we have a request." Keitaro stepped forward and bowed deeply. "Please bless our marriage!"
Instead of answering, she got up and walked up to them, namely Naru. "Can you keep him in place and will u make a future with my son?" Naru bowed her head. "I will. If I didn't, I'm afraid he would never get into Tokyo U."
"Then I have no objections. If you bring me grand children and straighten up my son, like I never could.." Shea shot Keitaro a look, but continued. "..you shall gain my respect." She put her right hand on her head. When she removed it, Naru returned to an upright position and smiled sweetly.
"Well then, run off with you. I'm sure you have better things to do, than stand around listening to an old woman. And do stay tonight. Don't worry, it won't be a bother."
Keitaro's spirits got lifted a great deal and his happy face showed a sign of relief. They both thanked her and announced that they would be in Keitaro's room, if they were needed.
On the way back, Keitaro turned to Naru. "How can it be that the one thing you both can agree on, is about my education?"
"Oh.. I don't know Mr. 2nd time-ronin." Naru answered him teasingly and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
- Break -
A/N: Alright.. I know. I kinda just blamed Kanako's character on her mother. But if you think about it.. wouldn't it make a lot of sense? And with an influence from their grandmother, I'd say we got a possible cause.
They can't even remain proper when under the surveillance of Keitaro's mother.. Hehe. But hey, we can't blame them. When those two open their eyes to one another, they're practically like rabbits in mating season. And I have so much fun, picturing Naru taking the leading role.
I was kinda lost for words for the last part, so I'm sorry if some of it seem somewhat off :/ In general I'm not overly happy with the chapter, but I do hope you enjoy it.
Thank you for now!
I thank you for all your support. Please review and share any thoughts with me you like! I'll be sure to read and possibly respond to all of them.
My opinion on the Hinata Characters
Mr. and Mrs. Narusegawa:
"They seem like a bunch of down to earth people. At least that's how I thought about depicting them in the story.
You know that definition of a fully happy and hard working family? A perfect family? Well I do not believe it exists and neither do I here. The family has gotten it scratches, namely with the relationship between Mei and Naru since they moved together. But they are very heartwarming parents and I couldn't imagine better parents to grow up with. Though letting the trouble of your girls, remain to be solved in between themselves seem kinda wrong. Meaning, I think they should've tried another kind of approach, if what they did, didn't make a notable difference.
They are what I'd imagine, a family with open arms to important people around them, would be like. You'll probably see this in how I made them react during their first meeting with Naru and the news of their engagement.
For now let's see how things develop.
The reason why I do the parents as single reviews, is because we haven't gotten a direct insight into who they are from the original works, so all I can do I base them off the past of their children.
If you have a request for who I should review next time or if I should change anything about the OCs, leave it in a review to this story!"
