Chapter 14

It had been almost a week since the proposal. Rachel started an absent streak and hadn't been at school since Sophia's funeral. Will called an early morning glee club meeting and nobody knew what it was about so Rachel decided it was important to show up. Finn decided to drive Rachel to school that day, even though he already had a car full of glee clubbers in his truck including Quinn, Tina, Kurt, Blaine, and Mercedes. Luckily for Rachel, he picked her up first so she got to sit in the front. They arrived at school after a crowded 13 minute drive with Blaine and Kurt arguing about what song they would sing for their duet in glee club and Mercedes and Rachel fighting about the most famous musical. Quinn sat in silence and tried to follow both arguments and Finn just drove and chuckled every now and then at.

Santana was the first person to see the gang get out of the truck in the McKinley High parking lot and she avoided them when she saw Rachel was there, not wanting a confrontation. She felt horrible, worse than that, probably. She knew how bad she must've hurt Rachel. She hoped more than anything that Quinn would take the fall for everything but she knew it was her responsibility to apologize. She and Rachel would never be the same again.

"So what did she say?" Quinn asked Finn as they walked into the school, managing to get away from the rest of the group. Finn glanced at her, a little confused. "You did propose, didn't you?"

"Oh…right. Yeah she said yes," Finn smiled. He couldn't picture anything other than her beautiful face, lighting up as the ring was revealed. He wondered what would happen, if they really would get married and have their baby and move to New York so Rachel can make her dreams come true. It all seemed like a fantasy now. They were 18; reality was finally settling in with Finn but for some reason, Rachel still seemed optimistic. Most girls who were 18 and pregnant, engaged, lost a close relative, and lost their best friend normally would lose all hope in becoming a star one day. But Rachel kept her head held high and didn't let anyone (besides Finn, of course) see her cry.

They all walked into the auditorium at the same time, finding Will and Shelby working on a mash-up. "Hey, guys," Will smiled, interrupting Shelby's singing. Emma sat in the chair that Finn usually sat in, watching the two rehearse.

"That sounded amazing, Mr. Schue," Rachel smiled as she took a seat next to Emma. "What's it for?"

"It's just an idea we've been throwing around lately," Shelby told Rachel and started walking towards the door to the choir room. "Well I'll see you later, Will."

"Bye," Will grinned as Shelby left the room and disappeared down the hall. "Alright everyone take a seat."

"Why are we here so early?" Puck complained.

Quinn rolled her eyes and turned her full attention to Will. Emma was sitting on the piano bench at that point so Finn could take her seat. "It's really not that early," Rachel shrugged. "School starts in an hour."

"Shut up, Berry," Puck said, winking at Quinn a little when no one was watching. Quinn sighed and sank down in her seat a little.

"As you all know, sectionals is coming up." Will began. "And then after that is regionals and nationals. Rachel, how much dancing can you do?"

"My doctor hasn't restricted me from anything yet," Rachel blushed a little, not wanting to answer.

"Alright, we'll open with a ballad, a duet kind of set up with Finn and Rachel which will lead to later Finn and Quinn and eventually Quinn and Sam. Next we will do a Troubletones number starting with Mercedes and leading to Santana and Brittany. I was thinking that Tina could be in that number as well," Will suggested.

"I'd love to," Tina smiled.

"Great," Will nodded.

"So why is dancing important for me here?" Rachel asked.

"I'm glad you asked," Will smirked, moving to the whiteboard. "Mike and Brittany will start out dancing and then we will switch to Rachel and Puck who will do more of a Dancing with the Stars type of dance. Then Santana and Blaine will also dance but not a couples' dance. We'll finish with the whole club dancing and singing in partners." He wrote the word music on the board.

"Um…Mr. Schue, we all know what music is," Finn pointed out.

"Yeah I know, but I need you to come up with the music we will be singing at sectionals." Will shrugged. "Song suggestions?"

"Way Back Into Love!" Quinn yelled before covering her mouth.

"From Music and Lyrics?" Emma asked Quinn, suddenly excited. Quinn nodded before glancing at the faces of her creeped out friends. Rachel had no idea there was a movie called Music and Lyrics but now she wanted to see it. Finn looked at Quinn, confused. He watched that movie with his mom once when he was 14.

"I was thinking something like Everything Has Changed by Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran?" Will asked, mainly looking at Sam. Sam really liked Taylor Swift.

"I love that song!" Sam cheered. "And Quinn's voice sounds awesome to Taylor Swift songs!"

"So does Rachel's," Finn smiled.

"Oh God no more Taylor Swift," Santana rolled her eyes. "If we're doing top 40 then why don't we make Royals by Lorde or Roar by Katy Perry into a duet? And why can't Britt and I sing in the ballad, too? My voice sounds awesome with Blaine's."

"Well I guess Royals wouldn't be too bad," Will contemplated. "And you're right; you sound really great with Blaine."

Santana nodded and looked at Rachel who was suddenly talking. "I hate how my voice sounds in that song," She sighed.

"All about Rachel Berry again?" Santana mumbled so only Brittany could hear her.

"What about an Avril Lavigne song? We all really like her," Mercedes asked, looking mainly at Rachel.

"Yeah, Here's to Never Growing Up is my ringtone," Rachel agreed. "That's why I make Finn call me all of the time; I just like to hear my phone ring."

"Loner," Santana rolled her eyes.

"We should do all Avril songs! How about for our ballad we do When You're Gone, Innocence, Wish You Were Here, or Slipped Away?" Quinn suggested. She loved Avril Lavigne and she knew that Rachel, Santana, Brittany, and Mercedes did, as well. Finn tried to pretend he wasn't excited about doing her songs but he couldn't contain his excitement and smiled at Rachel.

"Slipped Away or Wish You Were Here," Rachel nodded.

"Alright, all in favor of doing Avril for sectionals raise your hand," Will asked the class. A little over half of them raised their hands. Will couldn't count because they kept switching so eventually Quinn nudged Sam to make his raise his as well.

"Alright, Avril Lavigne it is!" Will smiled and erased 'music' from the board and wrote 'Avril'.

Rachel squealed and smiled from ear to ear at Finn. Finn kissed her cheek and glanced at her shining finger, brushing his hand over the ring a little. "Who have you told?" Rachel whispered.

"Only your dads, my mom and Burt, Kurt, Quinn, Puck, Tina, Santana, and Blaine," Finn answered quietly.

"Then why is Mr. Schue acting so weird? Are you sure your mom didn't tell him or Miss Pillsbury? I don't want him to know yet," Rachel admitted.

"No, she promised she wouldn't," Finn sighed. "He doesn't know, I swear. I think I heard him and Miss Pillsbury talking about you in the hall though. She said something about how you're innocent and you shouldn't be punished for your mistakes. I don't know what that means but I'm assuming Mr. Schue wasn't going to let you sing the lead at sectionals." He sighed and tried to talk slowly and ease into it but she wasn't going to freak out and he knew it. Everyone saw it coming.

Rachel just turned her attention back to Will who was talking to Santana about the upcoming competition. "I'm just saying that What the Hell would be a great Troubletones number," Santana shrugged. "Enough said."

"Alright, fine," Will finally gave in and wrote three bullet points under 'Avril'. The first said 'Slipped Away', the second one said 'What the Hell', and the third one said 'Girlfriend'. Rachel smiled; she loved Girlfriend! It was the perfect song for sophomore year Finn, Quinn, and Rachel. "Okay time to practice!"

I know this chapter is really short and it took me a really long time to update but I've been working on the sequels to this story and stuff like that. In case any of you realized, the proposal scene and the scene where Rachel tells Finn she's pregnant is identical to the scenes from How to Mend a Broken Heart in chapter 1 when Finn is remembering high school. So I highly recommend you read that story as well. It's completed now but I'm working on a huge story called The Glee Reunion which is like my finale to all of these mini stories that are a part of the whole idea. This story is the first in my collection of stories leading up to The Glee Reunion. If anyone ships Quam I'm in the process of working on a story about them in the series and the fight scene Finn and Rachel have before Finn leaves her for like 3 weeks…this all only makes sense if you read How to Mend a Broken Heart. Sorry for the long authors note but as you know, I only write it if it's important. Review or PM please :) Probably about halfway done with this story, by the way.
