The Daughter's Diary

Silence Is Hard To Do

Italics means flashback

Lex Luthor entered through the steel doors in his classic uniform suit. His feet led him to his spot on the room. The motioning of his hand tells the lab worker to show the scenes on the screen. The big black screen monitor showed a replay of the sparring fight between Maris and Jeptur. They also caught videos of the other young hero's tactics. Most of the scientists took notes on it and some recorded it in their brains.

Luther nodded his head to a group that were close to the control panels. One of them yelled, "Begin!"

...

Maris sat on the red comfortable chair closely attached to the wall down in the game room. She held her knees up to her chest and hid her face between the crook of her legs. She didn't cry or do anything. She just stopped and did nothing, but she knew what was going to happen next. Well she thinks she knew what was going to happen next.

Zatanna was in the kitchen waiting for Nightwing as she caresses her fingertips on the hard counter. The clock ticks on every second and minute she waits in the glorious house. She tries to ignore the obnoxious clock, but couldn't find herself to do so. The magician's waiting finally paid off when she heard his car coming from the driveway.

Richard came in the house wearily, "Hey."

Zatanna stops and then proceeds towards him, "What happened?"

"Nothing," he scratches his scalp, "nothing, stuff just irritated me today."

"What'd they say?" Zatanna said it ever so slowly because she knew it couldn't have been good.

He looked at her and he really didn't want to tell her, "Zee don't worry about it, okay?"

"I just wanted to know."

The detective stared into her eyes and he sighed. No words were being described because his dejected face already said a lot. They know each other. She started to explain to him the events that had happened earlier in the Cave. She described it like how Red Tornado had told her. They both made their entry down in the gaming room as they passed the kitchen.

...

Lex Luther was in his office as Mercy stood right next to him from his seat. Someone knocked on the office door. Lex didn't even look up from his papers and said, "Come in."

A young man came in with an emotionless face, "Sir, he's here."

"Send Mr. Wilson in the lab to get him ready. I'm still waiting for someone else."

The young man nodded and headed himself out of the door so he could do his assigned duty.

...

Dick and Zatanna were still talking to one another as they descended down the stairs. Once their feet touched the floor, they looked around for Maris. Her shadow that once cascaded on the chair was gone and nothing was seen of her. Zatanna's heart skipped a beat. Both of them ran to find her everywhere as every object jumped away from their hands trying as hard to find their daughter. Again.

The young magician's hands started to shake again, "I can't lose her again! I can't loose her again!"

Richard stopped his foot steps and went to Zatanna. His firm hands held her shoulders tightly, "We didn't loose her Zee. Look at me?"

Her eyes were wet, "Then where is she, Dick?"

His mouth opened and was about to answer her, but he was stopped because of the telephone. The billionaire tried to answer the ringing as fast as he could. Richard's migraine came back all over again when a furious Raquel was through the line yelling about her son's arm. He stopped her mid sentence to explain the current dilemma.

Richard told her to tell the others for help. He turned around to see Zatanna running up the stairs. His instincts told him to go after her, "Zatanna!"

She ran into the closet. Dick saw her put on her coat and and grab her hand bag. She wiped a tear and said, "Come on."

...

Her hands were still tied and she was still crying. The small and young 4 year old Mary Ella was still crying her eyes out. The masked man didn't want to hear her squeal at all, so something was covered around her mouth. She was pretty sure it was duct tape, but confusion and mixed emotions were weighing down on her a lot.

The young ebony haired girl could hear the rumble of the car moving. Her mind is racing to any spell she could think of, "Teeg emmn uothsie!"

She tried to yell her lungs out, but non of her spells worked because of her mouth bounded to the object stuck upon her. Mary wished she could have sneaked more into the batcave and spy on her family's training more because she would've gotten out of this dilemma by now.

Although, being in this predicament for too long would be a disgrace in front of Batman.

The young girl thought more about her family and it made her miss them so much. She tried to cry harder if it was possible. The masked guy looked back and yelled, "Quiet down there."

She looked up only once and saw a sort of brown and black metallic like mask shining in the moonlight.

...

Little small legs were running on the hallways of Lex Enterprise. Doors were being pushed and so were employees. She was very scared and she didn't know why. She saw the exact door to open, but a young man was yelling for her loudly. It didn't make her stop at all.

The doors finally flung open in front of her and her feet ran for a bear hug towards one of the most conniving leaders, Lex Luther.

She hugs him tighter, "You were right Father..."

Okay, I already know that you guys must have thought that I died...I didn't. Although, I'm sorry I haven't posted or did anything for 3 months, but I didn't really know that school would stress me out too much. And I'm sorry this story might not be as long as you guys might have wanted it to be but I did leave a cliffy... so yeah! I have at least 3 tests every single week so please bear with me.
