Look who's back guys! I don't own divergent remember?
This is the second time I've walked into Erudite dorms, it's still as terrifying as I remember, yet holding Four's hand I have a slight newfound confidence. Sitting in the foyer of the building is Caleb and some of his presumably new friends, possibly discussing something only Erudite's talk about. I have to drop Four's hand, if Caleb saw this he would inevitably lecture me on boys, the year above us and how this will only end in break up, bearing in mind that he's an Erudite now, I can guarantee that he would through in some statistics on relationships.
"Tris, are you okay? You've gone pale," I hear Four say, but in the style where you don't comprehend the words, they go through one ear and out the other, "Tris, are you okay?" If Caleb sees me with him, then God knows how he'll react. There isn't a person in the school who doesn't know who Four is. Despite being dauntless, I'm not brave, I'm not like them. I would say that I might be able to belong here, in Erudite, yet their intellectual level, even though I am unable to hear them, intimidates me.
"Yes, yeah, I'm... fine, just," I breathe, Four and I only got together today, dare I tell him I feel scared? Scared isn't dauntless; the dauntless are brave, dare I tell him that I shouldn't be dauntless? " Scared, the Erudite are rather intimidating don't you think?" I can see my breath in the air, it's stopped snowing now, the flakes lay on the floor no longer piling up.
"Tris, you could take them down with slightest action, you're built of muscle, their brains are no match for you. Why be scared because they know obscure facts that no one cares about?" He has a point, yet I think that he's exaggerating, I'm not built of muscle, since I joined the school and they put me into the sporty faction, I've done less sport than ever. I feel the blood rushing to my cheeks, I'm most likely fuchsia. "You're cute when you blush, you always seem to shy away. Let's talk to them before they notice us first. " He kisses the top of my head and I pray that they aren't looking over at us.
I approach the group with caution. Four remains at the door waiting for me to finish the conversation. "Caleb?" I ask weakly, they take no notice in me, so I clear my throat," Caleb? May I talk with you, you came looking for me earlier didn't you?" His 'friends' just glare at me, creating a hole, I'm not dauntless, I may dress like one yet I do not act like one in the slightest.
"Oh yes, I did, yet I was greeted by some lovely young fellas. " I wouldn't exactly say 'young fellas' is the correct word to be using in this circumstance, especially since Zeke is older than him.
"Yeah, I think you met Zeke and Uriah, Four's over there," I gesture towards the door," we're the only ones left from dauntless. Why did you want to talk? "
"Oh yeah, come over here, I need to talk to you about getting home tomorrow. " he grabs my arms gently and pulls me away from his group, I can feel their eyes following me around the room.
"So, tomorrow then? What time?" I can't help but hope that we'll be leaving at the same time as the guys.
"Yeah, tomorrow meet me at the front at midday, we'll get a cab to the airport and our flight is at about two. "
"That sounds fine, the guys are also going to the airport tomorrow, why don't we share a cab there with them? Well... you know, if they're leaving at the same time as us." I try to act nonchalant about the idea, but in my head I am unable to do so.
"If they're at the same time, but I really don't want to wait around for your little boyfriends. We've already been delayed enough. " he sighs. Yesterday I would have said that I was as eager to get home as Caleb was, but since this morning, I've not wanted to leave. Finally being with Four in a relationship is incredible and I want to take as much advantage of this as possible.
"Fine, yes I agree. I want to go home now, I'm sick of being here, " a complete lie, " I'll see you then, Caleb. Night." I would hug him, but I can feel the eyes of his companions burning through me. I turn around and walk towards Four, it feels like we've been together for such a long time, not this morning. He leans against the door in a typical dauntless bad-boy pose, I doubt that's how he really is, Four is such a softie.
"Everything okay?" Four asks, he wraps his arm around me and pulls me close. The feeling of warmth floods through every area he touches.
"Yes, he was just telling me about the plans for traveling home tomorrow, we're leaving at midday." Outside is still cold, the snow is still on hiatus.
"We'll probably be leaving at the same time as you guys, want to split a cab?" he suggests.
"I've already discussed this idea with him, as long as he doesn't have to wait, he's all up for it. "
"Such a stuck up-"
"-leave it Four, I may not overly like him, yet he's still my brother, I can't lose that. "
"If you insist." he grins. We stand outside the dauntless block, once we step foot in there, we'll be in a strict 'platonic' relationship. Four's eyes catch mine as if to ask permission. I nod and so he leans in and presses his lips to my own. Our mouths fight together savouring the last moments together for possibly a long time. Eventually we break away, regretting so immediately.
"You're so cute in that jacket," he whispers, I look down at my jacket, my oversized, ugly jacket. I wanted to stay warm, I can't help it. I giggle into his shoulder before we enter our dorms once more.
