I don't own divergent! Veroinca Roth does!
After beating our way through the traffic and the ice we make it to the airport with only ten minutes before Caleb and I's check in closes.
"Tris! We would have been on time had we not have to wait for your boyfriends." Caleb groans as we jog to the counter. I look over at Four to see if he has a reaction to the statement.
"Caleb, they're not my 'boyfriends'. God. Caleb, they're just friends. " Am I making this too obvious? Crap, this isn't good, just act casual, don't give anymore away. Please, Tris, don't give anymore away.
"Methinks the lady doth protest too much," Uriah jokes. He jams his finger into my chest and laughs. I throw Four a look of panic and try to force a laugh.
"Hamlet reference there Uri? I'm surprised you listened in English this year. " Act Calm Tris, don't make it too obvious.
"Well, occasionally I do, " he smirks. Caleb's handed over the tickets from the lady at the desk.
"Enjoy your flight. " she says. Caleb decides to go sit down on one of the nearby benches while Zeke and Uriah check in. Four and I are left alone together, we're not exactly in private meaning that we are unable to truly do what we want, yet we stand that bit closer, we look at each other for that bit longer. We do nothing too noticeable.
"I'll miss you over the next too weeks, I don't want to go back home, it's boring as hell there." I moan. The thought of leaving here is horrible. I would much rather stay here, the four of us staying together. Two of my best friends and my boyfriend? I'd rather here than home with no friends, unless you count the possibility of Susan and or Robert.
"Well, at least I won't have to worry about any other guy stealing you, no ex's I should be panicked about?" Robert doesn't count. There might have been something, yet we'll never know.
"Well, no ex's. Caleb's friend, Robert, might have liked me. Yet, his curly, blonde hair isn't my type is it?" I look up and down at Four. His short dark hair is different, it's literally the opposite. Cautiously, I look around. I see Caleb's far too busy reading his book, the boys are debating something with the check-in lady. I raise one hand and brush it through his hair, pulling it slightly and twiddling it around my fingers.
"Careful, Tris. I don't want them to know. " Sometimes I forget that they're around, it's just us. To me, it's always just us.
"I'm sorry. Don't forget about me? We'll call, text, email, video call, I don't care, just remember to talk. " I plead, I don't want this to end so soon; it's been a day.
"Of course I won't, we'll talk everyday. Just don't go leaving me for Robert, huh?" I laugh and move my hand back to my side before the boys notice, " I really want to kiss you now." he whispers.
"You can't, I don't want to tell them just yet, and here? In front of all these people, in front of my brother? He hates you enough already." We're so close, if he tilted his head down a few centimetres we'd be kissing. I attempt to stand taller, tilting my neck, but then I remember. We're here, we're in the middle of the airport, I'm about to travel home. What am I thinking?
"Well, we better be going. Our gate's about to close. " I complain. I don't want to leave. I prefer this place as it is, just the four of us. I don't feel like returning here with the likes of Molly and Peter.
"I'll miss you, Tris, " Uriah comes into to hug me. Then Zeke follows doing the same.
"Have fun with Four for the whole holiday, " I laugh.
"Oh, he won't be with us for the whole thing." Zeke butts in.
"No, actually, Tris. I'm going back home for a few days, just at the end. " He seems upset, I can't imagine why though. I don't know his family, sure I know he doesn't like them, but I don't know anymore.
"Oh, interesting. I'll miss you, Four. " I lean into hug him, in my ear he whispers,
"Don't call me that."
"What do I call you?" I keep my voice as low as I can.
"Nothing, not just yet," he pulls away. And with that, Caleb's pulling me away through the gate away from the mysterious comment which I just received.
We rush through and eventually end up on the plane. Side by side we'll have to sit for the duration of the flight.
"I don't really like those friends of yours." Caleb says. I would dislike to have this conversation now, we still have a couple of hours to go.
"Why not?" I ask, knowing already that I'll regret this answer.
"Well, that Uriah, he seems like he's that kind of guy who's funny, but I don't know over protective. Zeke, I don't really know him, he doesn't say much and that Four guy. He's always looking at you, whenever I've seen you within the past day you've been together. I don't know, I just think that he likes you. " No. No, he didn't just say that. Please no. Caleb doesn't suspect that please. If he thinks that, then what about Uri or Zeke? Oh dear.
Thank you all for reading! I love you so much, I'm sorry this is kinda a filler chapter.
I read My Life Next Door on Sunday, it was fab, but the ending was a bit rushed. I don't know what to read next! Argh!
