I don't own divergent! Veronica Roth Does.

"Marcus has a son at your school, he's not in your year, but you might know him. A boy named Tobias Eaton?" Dad asks, I've never heard of a Tobias or an Eaton at our school, so I doubt I've met him. Besides, the only year above's I know are Four and Zeke.

"No, I don't think I know him, I still don't really know anyone older than me," well that's an obvious lie, Tris isn't it? Mom wanders in with a stern look on her face. Fantastic, I get to get moaned at or shouted at or told off or something like that.

"Beatrice, be back by one, I understand that you're young and it's new year, but one at the latest. " Mom warns. Dad catches on with this.

"And don't go kissing any boys, do you understand?" he warns, if only they knew.

"Of course I do Dad, I won't be off kissing any guys." And if I did, Four will flip.

"The Blacks will be here at seven, apparently they're bringing along Susan and Robert since they're also going to this 'gathering' and Marcus will be here about seven, he says he's bringing his son who's back in town for the holidays, he's also apparently going to this party tonight. " Dad continues. I haven't seen Tobias in so long, I didn't really know him as I said. Inevitably, it will be awkward greeting him, prehaps the boy won't be as willowy as before, he might have filled out into a young man and-

-What am I thinking? I have Four, but I'm not thinking about Tobias that way, I am happy with Four. I shouldn't forget this.

"Oh, " I say, I'm still surprised," Well, I better go and get ready, I would hate to hold everyone up tonight."

I trudge my way upstairs suddenly butterflies are dancing around my stomach, I needn't be; it's just the thought of meeting someone who says the inevitable, 'wow haven't you grown up?' doesn't sound exactly appealing. I've always hated this almost ritual, it's such a routine, there's nothing you can really reply. Also, his father, there's always been something about him I've not trusted, he seems dodgy as if he's got something to hide; it's unsettling.

I try to recall everything Christina taught me at the beginning of the year; the eyeliner, the lipstick all of that. I slip into the skin tight dress she insisted I bought and the torture devices which apparently pass off as shoes these days. Everything's fine until-

-The tattoo. I can't hide it, with the neckline on this dress the birds on my collar are a statement. I yank a jacket overtop of my dress only to realise that the wings of one is still visible. Yet, in the dark, I hope that Mom won't notice or worse; Caleb will see.

I glance down at my outfit, the last time that I was in this room, I never would have pictured myself dressing as such. I feel like I might almost have changed too much, yet this is me now. I'm dauntless, nothing like either of my parents would have wanted me to be, yet I can't change now, these tattoos are permanent.

I hear footsteps crunching along the frosted drive way, possibly the Blacks, possibly the Eatons. I open my curtains to see two looming figures, obviously those of men. The Eatons. By the looks of it, it looks like that Tobias has, as I thought, filled out, his figure is somewhat familiar. Marcus gives Tobias a talking to; a warning possibly. Even by his silhouette, he looks a stern man, a man with something to hide.

There's a knock at the door, I don't want to go downstairs yet, I wish to avoid people as much as possible in this attire. I hear the door swing open and the sound of Marcus' booming voice, no voice from Tobias.

"Beatrice, come be polite, say hello to our guests, " Dad calls, I throw off my shoes and pull on a long mismatching cardigan, trying to look not dauntless, yet still presentable since this is one of Dad's co-workers. I walk down the stairs seeing Marcus, he hasn't changed in the slightest, well, it's only been a few-

-Four.

Four's here; standing in my doorway is my boyfriend. So that means that Four is-

-Marcus' son. Four is Tobias Eaton.

"Well, Beatrice, haven't you grown up? Looking like a proper young lady. " Marcus says, I tear my eyes away from Four- Tobias who still hasn't looked away from his feet.

"Well, thank you, " I blush, I have no other words to say, how should I respond when I'm in such shock.

"Tobias, " I try to sound calm, but I can't be, I really can't," Long time no see." He glances up to me and throws a cheeky grin.

"I could say the same." He's beaming now. I want to run up and hug him. The odds of this whole event happening is almost impossible, I still cannot believe he's here.

"Come upstairs, I'm finishing getting ready." I look at Dad who just nods, he's too busy talking to Marcus to really care about Four and I.

He meets me half way on the stairs. I subtly grab his hand and interlock our fingers. I push the door of my room open, careful to hid Four from Caleb.

"You never told me! Tobias." I can't be mad at him, it's been too long, I just can't.

"I always thought you would judge me Beatrice," Are we going to get into a fight? Here? Now? With my brother nearby?

"This is what you meant, 'don't call me Four' you knew you'd be here, you knew who I was and you never thought you would mention it?"

"Tris, no one in this town likes Marcus Eaton, do you think I want to tell you that I am his son?" he looks panicked, as if I might banish him because of his father.

"You think that I would judge you because of who your father is? Newsflash, both of our fathers are hated! They are politicians that's what they're like!" Please don't get angry Four, please." Of course I'm accepting who you are, what kind of girlfriend would I be if I didn't? I would be a girl who only liked you because you are Four the football player. Do you really think that I would break up with you because-" And I'm not able to Finish my sentence, because he's kissing me. His arms are wrapped around my waist pulling me closer, his lips move hungrily against my own.

"Thank you, " he pulls away," I hate my father, I really do." his stare is intense, almost threatening at the mention of his father.

"I'm sure you're exaggerating, Four," I try to sympathise.

"Don't call me that, you know who I am. One day you'll find out, Tris. One day I'll get enough courage to-" I don't get to hear what he's about to say. Caleb comes in bursting through the door. We jolt apart.

"Beatrice, Mom and Dad say that Tobias is up here, I haven't-" He stops dead in his tracks.

"You- you're here, why are you with my little sister in her bedroom. Why are you standing so close together?"

"You're the Erudite tell me what you think and she isn't your little anything. Remember that." He stands there still with his jaw on the floor.

"You and her, you are..." I shoot a look of panic at Tobias who then stutters out the words,

"No, we're not. Now, do you want to go find Tobias?" he hints. Suddenly he's very open with this, he's never mentioned it, yet within the past few minutes he's told two of us; one of whom he doesn't trust.

"You're him, Tobias Eaton and my sister-"
